That's Romi's Mario Fantasy, I don't remember any links of it unfortunately.
Guys, I feel it obligatory to mention this: I've discovered what may be the very worst Japanese hack of all time.

It's called Holly in Lolita World, and it's based around the character Holly from SuperSkye -- other than that, it doesn't have very much to do with the series. From what I know, it was created by a team in Japan, then given to a friend who spoke minimal English to translate; thus, though it's in English, the quality of translation is horrendous.

The hackers apparently actually sent in to the RunninRiiz team. My friend PIKY36, who worked on SuperSkye before the scrapping, had a copy, which he got permission to send for special purposes (i.e. my crapsack hack review.)

So I have the hack, but I don't know whether I can distribute it. It's simply horrible, though, and I don't know much about it besides what I've said here.

So does anyone else know ANYTHING about this hack?

I don't know about it, but I'm interested in seeing how bad this really is. If you can provide a link, that would be great.

On that note though... how bad is it? Because while you say it's the worst ever... I have to wonder how accurate that is with Super Mario Superstar 1 and the other works by its development team, all of which would fit perfectly under the title 'worst hacks of all time'.

So yeah, I'd like to see it.

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
@cheat-master30: Not the hack itself, but this should give you an idea of how that hack is.
So a bunch of Japanese guys on acid stuck SMW, some game I don't know, and two shitty games that AVGN reviewed into a blender, and sprinkled horrible Engrish on top.....

MY BRAIN JUST COMMITTED SUICIDE.
Believe it or not, I still exist in some fashion.
Does anyone know where I can find SMW Yeah! sprites? The other links are broken, and I'm doubting if anyone has them. Can they be re-uploaded or something, so everyone can use them?
Hmm. I've seen many people that aren't Japanese in Kaizo Mario Uploader, but I can't seem to register or do anything I want. Can someone help me?

They seem to block non Japanese IPs now. You can probably get round it by finding a Japanese internet proxy or VPN service.

Bump.
Can some mod update the first post with the new Kaizou Mario Uploader link? (http://www7.atpages.jp/smw/view.cgi is now http://smwx.s602.xrea.com/view.cgi)
Does anyone have the hack "^o^"? It's really cool, you can see it here.

I remember playing it, but unfortunately, I think the only place it was uploaded was the old VIP 5 file uploader, which has now long shut down.

If there's a longer description of it, I guess I can search Google and see if some ROM site somewhere has automatically reuploaded it...

I found a hack called "Super Factory World" today. It's short; just two levels, but it's level design is awesome! It doesn't really have anything original; all ASM and graphics are from SMWC, but it's got really good level design. I had lotsa fun. Does anyone else know about this?

Found another ASM showcase hack called "12 Star Pack (Teisyutu SMW)". Some levels are good, some are not, but the ASM was pretty impressive in my opinion.

So erm... Mario LD is being continued?

I have no idea who 'Redit Mario 999' is (he doesn't seem to be a member here, nor on any other ROM hacking sites), but it seems he's trying to continue the game. Not sure if it's with or without EXTRA's permission/backing, but it's interesting.

On another note, I haven't heard of Super Factory World, so if SRH can send it to me, that'd be awesome.

i just tried some of the new levels out of sheer boredom and i think this is the peep that hacked carol's account and made the fake demos

@cheat-master30: I knew you would say this. I just did. I was going to PM you about this (since you LOVE Super Mario LD) but I then remembered you %99 knew about it.
Also.. I have a hack that YOU don't have?! I have a JAPANESE HACK that CHEAT-MASTER30 DOESN'T HAVE? WHAT THE FUCK.
PM'd.

Also, what Leomon said actually seems likely. Though, I'm starting to think that that guy actually has a decent amount of ASM knowledge, because I've tried to unlock Super Mario LD too, and most stuff was glitched up. (not just graphics, that's easy to fix. everyone can do that.)
Let's see what happens.

That's very possible. However, the design similarities are a bit less of a sure fire thing this time around, because EXTRA's own level design is very close to that of the carol hoaxer.

Or in other words, the levels the two of them make are often extremely difficult, and in some ways similar in level design style. So it's not so easy to tell them apart...

If the hoaxer is who I think it is... yeah, they do seem to have a decent amount of ASM knowledge. Especially if they really did code that awesome piranha plant boss from the fake VIP 6 level 'Astronomical Disaster'. That thing is almost endboss material.

But it does make me think... why?

Why does this person, who obviously has a decent level of technical skills... decide to try and work on other people's projects without their permission instead of creating something original for themself?

Competing with Brutal Mario and Mario LD is not beyond the realm of possibility, either on a technical level or a game design one. Works like The Second Reality Project Reloaded and its sequel are better in almost every way. Works like A SMWC Production 2, Mario's Exodus to Death and my own Mario's Nightmare Quest are more technically impressive in every way (bar the ASM).

We've got people making clearly unofficial sequels, like those from the Brutal Mario wiki. That's understandable, they're die hard fans trying to basically complete their favourite game, and they're not pretending to be carol/affiliated with him/connected to some other major ROM hacker. We've got people trying to rip off Brutal Mario altogether, like Blackout77 and Mario Kollision 1/2 and Hammer Brother Demo 3. That's not really fine, but... I guess he at least has a motivation (of wanting to be admired as much as carol on a blatant carbon copy of his work).

But this person? What do they have to gain from all this stuff? Why are they wasting their talents on pretending to be someone else and continuing their work with no real 'credit'?

On another note... that Super Factory World game was quite interesting. Seems like it's almost a cross between Japanese and Western ROM hack design/aesthetics. It's especially odd to see all the SMWCP 2 stuff, given how your average Japanese Mario hacker seems to be almost isolationist in their attitudes and often tries to do everything themself. Are we finally seeing the Japanese ROM hacking world make use of SMW Central's resources? After all, Hyper Mario World 6 and 7 and Luigi of Shadow made heavy use of them recently as well...
