Custom pc build?

  • Pages:

I was thinking of building a custom gaming pc, I have a max $500 budget, I mostly play osu! but I also like to play left 4 dead 2, amnesia, mw2, cod 4 etc on a pretty high setting. I have a part list and am wondering if I should not use it, or add or change it.

List 1

Please leave me your opinions on the matter.

It's a bit silly to get both an APU and dedicated graphics, especially if they can't work in tandem (AMD obviously won't cooperate with Nvidia). I'd advise switching to a better value CPU, such as an Athlon 860k (which will fit that mobo) if you can find one. The 750Ti is a good choice, though. If you still have money left from getting a cheaper CPU I'd also recommend paying a little more to upgrade to a 270X or something, which comparatively destroys the 750Ti.
Don't try to understand anything, just execute orders!!

I didn't build the list, I edited it lol okay so I will take that to heart.

Edit, do I need to add an optical drive?

If you intend to install an OS or play games from a disk, yes

If not then nah not really, but it doesn't hurt to have one just in case, and you can get a basic one for under $19 or so

Tell me again why your wanting apu for your gaming ?

Is the machine going to be strictly geared at gaming only and nothing ?

Not even to do anything else like graphic editing, music productivity, school/oficce work and other etc ?
Even though you have a 500 budget build I was lucky enough to build you something better.

Look at the parts side by side 4 main parts I chose would eat that apu alive and still do so much more.

If you can find slash-man ask him how he likes his AM3+ setup.

If you had 600.00 bucks we could swing you for a intel 1155 2500k build.

Only problem is if you want that for under 500.00 bucks you would have to hold off on the vga card for about a month.

I suggest you look over it and think about it, hell find a good youtube channel reviewing both am3+ 1150 1150 intel quadcore hexacore and nvidia card.
Get some advice and make your purchases.

Thanks for all your effort but my parents went and bought the pc without me knowing and bought an hp :(

Ask then to cancel the order or return the pc if what they ordered isn;t to your liking, not worth dealing with a pc that isn't up to expectation for years until you can purchase a new one.

Well I did, but they said no, sorry for wasting everyones time, the bad part about it, is the only reason they didn't build it is because they didn't want to buy the operating system...

That aggravates me, I mean if you already have what you want in mind it's really not there place to screw over all your plans to save like 60 dollars.

If I would have known that sooner you could have told your parents you can download windows 7 iso and use it for 30 days.
If they don't want to come out of pocket you would need to generate atleast 80.00 bucks during the next 30 days.

Either selling off somethings you don't need or finding some sort of work withik your neighborhood or city.

Show your parents this thread if you want, also tell them a compurer technician showed you this for reference.
If the computer is returnable by the store and you want to build it go ahead and do so.
However you will need to be responsible and learn to seek online technical help if you have build issues.

Toms hardware forums and tech-forms is good for support if you listen to them.

If they still say no enjoy the computer build up your own funds throughout the year and do it yourself.

Lesson learned, both parents and kids win in the long run.

e: okay, if you say so, leod.

But that doesn't explain why he's posting that here. None of us know anything about that.

A budget is how much money they have at their disposal, not how much the thing costs.

Set your budget price if you want to go with amd I suggest a minimum of 600 dollars.
The parts I linked that would be enough to build you a very nice computer system.
Including a choice of windows or download a linux distro if your familiar.
I prefer suse over anything else, if your going for intel..

You can get this one, oh sure its about a 45 bump up for a six core.
However it'll be on par or higher with amd am3+ quadcores and hexacores.

159.99 <--- used not new.
Choose a gigabyte mobo from newegg.com between 39.00 to 69.99.
That will be a complete system for under 700 bucks total.

You got choices but its up to you, I personally suggest the amd hexacore.
It does very well on gaming and desktop productivity, you won't even see it hiccup at all.

Have fun building if you do need help while building it or trouble shooting.
Toms Hardware forum is good for that.

Yes you're correct, I however do not know how much money I will have at my disposal. I am building this for my grandma (she actually told me to add the peripherals and shit XD ) she said she would let me know after she has some surgery.

Mini-Tech: alright will look into it. I will get back to you when I am done looking over these parts XD

Alright so I finally have a some free time. I built the parts list the way you told me too mini-tech, but I changed the graphics card. Pc part list I think this is correct.
blunted
That list isn't bad at all. In fact, that's excellent.

I would've added for 12GB RAM, but that's perfect where it is at that price range.

Parts don't look to bad at all but to save a bit of money on a mouse here's what I use and I've never had any issues with it at all.

Good just one thing that still doesn't make sense.
Are you sure your grandma needs that machine ? :/
If you still have that computer your parents gave you.
I ask your grandma which one she really wants for her to have the intel.
It would go to waste since she really wouldn't put it to good use.
The amd FM2+ HP machine would benefit her in the long run.

Eitherway least you know how to build machines.
Your next problem is maintening them and doing your own support.
If it breaks down during the next 3 years or so.
