Looks like there's going to be more dimension-hopping fun to be had in the final version!

Hopefully the IDSAS won't be sending Mario to any really strange and disturbing places... (Anyone who's played Fourth Sector knows what I'm talking about)
I apologize in advance for making a double-post.

Anyways, I've been playing through the unofficially-released chapter of the Devious Four Chronicles, The Crater. And I must say I'm amazed at how good this hack is so far. It is a shame it can't be released on the grounds of being incompatible with accurate emulators, because I'm already having a lot of fun playing it.

In case you're interested in my feedback on the hack, I am still doing that. You can find some of it in the link below:
Review of Worlds 1 through 3
(Visitors to this thread, be warned that there could be spoilers in there if you haven't played The Crater yet)

Due to the need to get cracking on my VLDC entry and make progress on my own hack, I probably won't be blitzing through this hack like I had done with The Fourth Sector, so don't expect too many of these reviews like before.

About those spelling errors, they can't be fixed. Scorpion lost a bunch of progress on The Crater due to a hard-drive failure, so what you're playing right now is unfortunately going to be the final version.

And yes, that Hunter fight being different with some answers was intentional. You're not supposed to make him angry when answering his questions, or else you'll have a harder time beating him.

To be honest, he can still point out any spelling and grammatical errors as he wishes. Reviews do also serve a purpose to make sure that the authors strive to prevent repeating past mistakes, not just bringing mistakes made to be fixed currently. Though I do wish that the hack authors have not given up on such a great piece of work they created.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Thanks very much for your feed back, GeminiRage, I'll attempt to introduce your level suggestions into the current ROM I have unless I decide not to use something. Your feedback has also given me a neat idea, so thank you.
Your layout has been removed.
Everybody, Fourth Sector submission link has been updated with new screenshots, new fixes and even a couple of new levels! If you haven't checked out The Devious Four Chronicles #6 : The Fourth Sector, now is a really good time to, especially now that it is a nominee for being Featured! Here's a fast link to help you out:
The Devious Four Chronicles #6 : The Fourth Sector
Used to have 1500 downloads!

Not only that, for those of you fans that have been wanting to play "The Devious Four Chronicles #3 : The Crater", but have put it off because it is ZSNES only; don't fret no further because I'm hard at work at porting this over to a new rom which will support all emulators!
So, more progress is being done on porting over the Crater to a new rom with full emulator compatibility. In order to do that though, all the cutscenes need to be recreated. Since I have the opportunity, why not take full advantage of it and add new stuff to the Crater whilest keeping the originality of it. As a plus, better written and shorter cutscenes are funner to read than the long, drawn out ones.

Also, I got Imamelia's Multiple Midway Points working on this. Fully compatible with LM's latest updates. As a plus, they're not buggy like the previous one!

Also, at some point in this level, you gain lava immunity; so explore all you can. You might find some secret passages, treasures, or even just a big secret in general!

Yeah, I'm actually doing this. (It's an HRRV reference I'm adding in so things will make more sense in the long run.) IDSAS is just... I don't know the word actually.
hey

where is the download link for this mod

thanks
These hacks (HRRV; Crater) are works in progress. There is no download link at the time.
hey

where can i find

TD4C#1 and TD4C#2 for download

thanks
They haven't been made yet. The numbering is more of a timeline than a release order at this point, and the authors will work on it whenever they feel like developing that part of the story.

Also, I recall there being a lava-swimming level in the 4th Sector as well. Well, not really, as it was only part of a level I was never meant to find in the first place that I came across due to completely unrelated circumstances. Isn't it just fun to break all known sense of logic once in a while?
If you're talking about having
re-entered a certain level to find a destroyed version of it
, then that was completely intentional. It counts towards your exit count too. XD

While that level you needed a star to swim in lava, the one on Crater, you don't really need a star; instead you have a plot item for that specific level.

Yes, I'm finally at this point in the hack. Hunter's Focur is what I would like to call my second favorite world in the Crater, and reviewing it and its level design is a joy. Recreating the cutscenes here won't be too hard, considering they're all mostly simple. I do have plans in mind for changes in the final levels of this area; what they are I will not tell.

The music here is just so nostalgic, and I love every second I spend in this world. I don't know if others that have played previous releases of The Crater share the same love for this world that I do, but every second to me is precious.

Just doing some work on the Crystal Mountain now. I definitely need to see about a background for the place, for sure.

How about just making crystals just jutting out from a void (as in, making the crystals have a fade-in effect) as a fitting background rather than having none at all.

Also a question. Will there be 1 new level for Crystal Mountain? I find it to be one of those worlds that could use an expansion of its theme.

Just showing off some more of the work done on Hunter's Revenge ReVised. With this, the main path is complete! (Save for the ending)

Now all that's left to do is to make the ending for the normal route. Make the "Star World" levels, and then make the secret ending which can only be obtained via certain requirements.

For those wondering, that last screen shot is of the Yellow Switch Palace. All Switch Palaces except for Blue have been created. Blue switch palace is actually pretty special in regards to the fact that its blocks will only appear once or twice through out the hack. There's reason behind his. Just to give a hint: IDSAS.
WOW!!!!!!!!!! You made SO much screen shots. And about your hack their is 2 characters to play as?
