I have no idea who 'Redit Mario 999' is (he doesn't seem to be a member here, nor on any other ROM hacking sites), but it seems he's trying to continue the game. Not sure if it's with or without EXTRA's permission/backing, but it's interesting.
i just tried some of the new levels out of sheer boredom and i think this is the peep that hacked carol's account and made the fake demos
That's very possible. However, the design similarities are a bit less of a sure fire thing this time around, because EXTRA's own level design is very close to that of the carol hoaxer.
Or in other words, the levels the two of them make are often extremely difficult, and in some ways similar in level design style. So it's not so easy to tell them apart...

Also.. I have a hack that YOU don't have?! I have a JAPANESE HACK that CHEAT-MASTER30 DOESN'T HAVE? WHAT THE FUCK.
PM'd.
Also, what Leomon said actually seems likely. Though, I'm starting to think that that guy actually has a decent amount of ASM knowledge, because I've tried to unlock Super Mario LD too, and most stuff was glitched up. (not just graphics, that's easy to fix. everyone can do that.)
Let's see what happens.
If the hoaxer is who I think it is... yeah, they do seem to have a decent amount of ASM knowledge. Especially if they really did code that awesome piranha plant boss from the fake VIP 6 level 'Astronomical Disaster'. That thing is almost endboss material.
But it does make me think... why?
Why does this person, who obviously has a decent level of technical skills... decide to try and work on other people's projects without their permission instead of creating something original for themself?
Competing with Brutal Mario and Mario LD is not beyond the realm of possibility, either on a technical level or a game design one. Works like The Second Reality Project Reloaded and its sequel are better in almost every way. Works like A SMWC Production 2, Mario's Exodus to Death and my own Mario's Nightmare Quest are more technically impressive in every way (bar the ASM).
We've got people making clearly unofficial sequels, like those from the Brutal Mario wiki. That's understandable, they're die hard fans trying to basically complete their favourite game, and they're not pretending to be carol/affiliated with him/connected to some other major ROM hacker. We've got people trying to rip off Brutal Mario altogether, like Blackout77 and Mario Kollision 1/2 and Hammer Brother Demo 3. That's not really fine, but... I guess he at least has a motivation (of wanting to be admired as much as carol on a blatant carbon copy of his work).
But this person? What do they have to gain from all this stuff? Why are they wasting their talents on pretending to be someone else and continuing their work with no real 'credit'?
On another note... that Super Factory World game was quite interesting. Seems like it's almost a cross between Japanese and Western ROM hack design/aesthetics. It's especially odd to see all the SMWCP 2 stuff, given how your average Japanese Mario hacker seems to be almost isolationist in their attitudes and often tries to do everything themself. Are we finally seeing the Japanese ROM hacking world make use of SMW Central's resources? After all, Hyper Mario World 6 and 7 and Luigi of Shadow made heavy use of them recently as well...

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
