Does anyone like trying to find all secret exits and special worlds?

I just would like to know to determine should I put them in my hack. If I find a hack fun to play and its not to hard to find them than I would.
Too many people wonder what other people think when they should really just be doing what they think is best.

Personally, I liked the non-linear style of SMW's overworld compared to SMB3 (sometimes) and YI's linear overworlds. Go for it.
That's up to you. So long as nothing secret or well-hidden is actually required to get to the credits screen of your hack, it's fine.

Though it is recommended that your secrets are fun and/or worthwhile to look for if you want players to actually look for them.
The non-linear overworld was one of the best aspects of the original SMW. Go for it. Though, as the previous poster mentioned, make sure finding your secrets actually worth the effort. Some grand reward for getting all the exits / unlocking all the secrets / getting all the dragon coins would be neat too.
Usually when moderating hacks I try to find everything and test every level/section of the hack, obviously. Other than that, I only bother to do it if I actually like the hack.

By the way, I agree on doing it. Even if it's just an alternate path, it's aways nice to have more to explore on the world map. I recommend using them for hidden levels/any kind of secret, by the way, and not only shortcuts.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Depends on the hack. If I like it (enough), I'll try to find all of the exits after completing the main game. Otherwise I won't bother.

When moderating, I have to do find all of the exits whether or not I like the hack.

Like others said, it actually depends on the hack. I like to explore around levels to look for secret exits that might be there if there are any, especially when there is some sort of "Special World" thingy somewhere. To answer your question, as long as the secrets are well hidden, I don't see why not to place them.

If I find a hack interesting, I may try to find all exits in the game. I think a special world is fine, people like to find secret worlds as they may be rewarded with something. So the answer is yes, but try to make the challenge worth it (a secret, hidden level, shorcuts, all exits).
Well that depends on two things. One being if I find the hack interesting enough to want to continue playing and two being how the secret exits are hidden. Though I'm not really that great at searching for secret exits myself I still find them fun to find but if there anything like how the New Super Mario Bros games hide secret exits (Especially New Super Mario Bros 2) then yeah I won't even bother. Also I don't really like when secret exits are required to beat the game normally.

I'll always try to 100% a hack. If I don't like it, I'll just stop playing altogether.

I think secret worlds and the likes add "the" spice to a hack. The ability of exploring the map and being able to take alternate paths was the thing that really caught me up back when I started playing SMW. I believe this should always be taken benefit of.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
As long as you don't force yourself to make levels. Bad padding is a very common issue in hacks. Only make a level if you think it adds something to the experience.
Scope creep is a very dangerous thing.
Secrets are fun and great to throw in a hack, of course, don't make them required for the credits. Like what I did for example, I actually had/have two sets of credits for one of my hacks submitted here: Fourth Sector. One credits screen is gotten by playing the game normally, little or no secrets found, the other is only found when ALL the secrets are uncovered. While such a technique is possible, keep in mind that I only learned how to do it this year... and I've been hacking for 6+ years now.
It's depend on the hack itself.
If I am very interested in a hack, I may try to search it.
It really depends on two factors for me. One of them is whether the hack itself is good enough to make me want to find secrets. The other is the difficulty in finding them. I would not go looking for the kind of secret exits that are near impossible to find unless the hack is good enough to make me want to find them. I relate to two factors and come to my own judgement. Sometimes though I will just look for secret exits when I feel like it.

When reviewing hacks however, I do attempt to find secret exits and whatever little bonuses they might contain.
I always try to find all the secrets in a hack. I don't know why, probably because I like how a 100% over world looks like, with all the paths connected.
I try and find secrets in games more often than not. In the case of hacks, those where I don't try to find them are those that I don't find worth playing anyway.
I have very fond memories of finding all the secrets in Buried Treasure (oh man, that hack.) To this day I still don't know if I've found them all.

Just make what you find most fun to make.

Pretty much the same as Koopster; I always try to find secrets and just go play another hack if I don't like it much.
I really like finding secrets even if they don't lead to a reward. If I get something, that's great but if the journey was fun, I'd be satisfied.
I absolutely love it, as long as it doesn't make the over world too complicated with many different paths. I really enjoy it when you finish the "final level" and then discover a secret world or level! It makes you feel like you've accomplished something and unlocked something super secret! I say go for it!

It's all up to you and how you feel about it. Personally I like it because I can add a little extra for other people to enjoy.
