2-4 fort of the whisp =Need Testers!=

This is my 2-4. While the level has the big Boo as the boss, it mainly involves the fiery enemy's (Dont know the name) it has two main sections, the outdoors area and the fort area, which is also outside :D

They're called Piro Dangles.
There's gonna be a section around them in 6-E as well #wario{B)}, hope you can come up with some good puzzles/obstacles with them!

Also like how the outdoor looks so far, very spoopy.

Yeah, they're quite interesting enemy's considering they where used once in a bonus room of some castle (well then again probably half the sprites in YI where only used once) which is good for the hacker to make levels unique. I believe there is a sprite where the bouncy ghost guy is holding a dangle? Wanna try find it.

The ghost guys are called Boo Blahs, and the ones holding Piro Dangles are named exactly what you'd expect them to be named. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
Also, may I suggest u adding more kinds of ghosts to make the level not dull but interesting. Like blind boos, balloon boos, paper ghost, lantern ghost, maybe also some ghosts that can be found in sewers.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but that was kind of my idea. I used Blind Boos, Boo Blahs(the ghosts that make you jump really high, and they come w/ the fireballs too.) The fireballs are called Sparkys, and I used other concepts as well.

xxxxxz: The trees look good in the background of the castle w/the bricks, but it's hard to judge from the screenshots. It seems like you should have a greater variety of enemies, but maybe the ghosts from the sewers (like the ghost that reverses your direction) might make it too difficult. It depends how you do it, I guess.
Also, maybe add some coins and things.

The level looks like it's coming out pretty good, the only criticism I can come up with is that the pine tree background. I've seen quite a few other levels use it, along with that exact same palette, and it's getting to be a bit boring just seeing it everywhere. I know this is a fort of ghosts, but I think there are other backgrounds you could use as well. Like maybe the forest mountains with the palette from the original game's 6-6? Just an idea...

Agreed. I've found quite a few that featured this bluish pine trees background and its getting a bit too repetitive. Also, the brown fort, for whatever reason to me, does not really fit the background, but u can always decide on that of course.
I've played around with other BGs but it just seems that the by I'm using ATM just suits it well.

Unrelated but making them castle walls at first is a bit trickery but there's a knack to doing them

Theres a secret in the lava, but how do you get it?
(I know this is Lespana1's idea (i think?) but even though hes not a very good designer, I thought the gimmick was genius and had to use it.)

Copycat. Just playing, and it's Lespna1. Maybe, show a few more screenshots w/more enemies, and maybe don't just say there's a secret, but like I put a message block saying that eggs can go through the lava. That was just an example, but I will play it when you have a demo.

That post seems to be just to show off the mechanic. I don't think he needs to show off much more.

It's pretty obvious that there is a secret there even without the text.
I also don't see the point in having a message block there. The lava seems like it's integrated into the level fairly well, and the mechanic should be intuitive enough that the player will be able to figure it out on his own.
I'll be interested in seeing what you can do with the lava gimmick. I'm kind of hoping you do something akin to having the player shoot and egg through a really long stretch of lava, and then have them run along a bridge above it to "chase" it and prevent it from despawning. There seems to be a lot of potential here.
Have few ideas for the lava, unfortunately I won't be able to work on this for a week or so, Christmas coming up and all.

Maybe, you could have baseball players hit eggs off the wall and into the lava to get certain items and things, but that was just a suggestion.
I know its been a loooong ass while but I'll have an update on This very soon.

Great level, very long and labyrinthian.

Some issues:


This was a screen exit into another area but looks closed-off to me.


This area, if you happen to destroy the blocks as I have here, is a bit unintuitive how to figure out how to spawn the trampoline again. You have to like, go way right or left and approach it with the camera raised up high, then it finally spawns back in. Was this intended? Are you supposed to just leave and reenter the area? Seems kinda unclear I guess.


I was able to spawn the "you solved the puzzle!" music & red coin event again here as I was on the way out...yes, all the way down here where it should not be playing, lol. Try not getting both red coins the first time (I think that was the problem). Sweet li'l puzzle here but yeah, should be fixed.



SUUUUUUUUUPER LAGGY, Those flame guys unfortunately are like lag machines, and with a spinning wheel this is like 1-2 FPS, lol.


lol, that ghost guy up there is glitched to heck, even when I got all the way up there he's no better.


I felt there should've been a reward/secret for getting all the way up here.


Glitched sprite here, assuming you knew about this?

BTW I am not sure what your plans are for the boss arena but I did hack the Boo boss and I'd like to use it here. You can change the arena around however you want but let me know if you'd like the ASM patch so you can see how he will be.

Just found out I got an extra sublevel to play around with, yippee! Anyway, this is a bonus room where you can obtain your last (or second to last) flower.



right off the bat you got one of these mothers coming at you. No there not regular large Mildes they are the huge Milde, not used in any other level of any released hack, as far as Im aware.
