Computer is black screening.

I'm typing this from my shitty 2005 laptop. But anyways, I need some help. The last time I used my main computer, it froze and said, Windows is not responding. Or something along those lines. Whenever I tried turning it back on, it would do the loading screen, then go black for hours on end. I even left it on for a day and was still black. The monitor wasn't turned off, it was still emitting light, just there was nothing on the screen. I tried turning it off and on multiple times, unplugging the system, and still nothing. I don't have the Windows 8 recovery disk or anything. I even tried to attempt system refresh, but I couldn't even get to the option to, since it stayed on the black screen. pls help
Do you hear any clicking or any other weird noises coming from the computer? I have a feeling I know what it is, although I could be wrong.

At what point does the screen turn black? After the splash screen? Also yeah, is it clicking? Do you hear any motherboard beeps?

Nope, no noises at all. And yes, the blackscreen does appear after the splash screen.
Maybe it's the monitor (though I doubt it) try hooking up a different monitor to it, or, if available, hook up this monitor to a different PC.

If the splash screen appears, it isn't the monitor. Boot the computer in safe mode and then try reinstalling the graphics drivers.

Once logged in in safe mode, go to control panel -> device manager -> display adapters

If you see a (!) in a triangle on the icon, something is wrong for sure, but if not, then just do it anyways to be safe. Right click the drivers and click uninstall, then restart, or try click update, try downloading the driver from the website itself, etc. It took me a while to get everything fixed for my computer because Windows 8 update to 8.1 is buggy with dell laptops.
Welp, my dad just got it back from the computer repair place he sent it to. They said it was fucked up beyond belief, and would probably be less expensive to buy a new one. Apparently, the memory was completely wiped, and it would not boot windows. (maybe it's the universe telling me Windows 8 is shit) My dad still brought it home though. Anything you guys could think of? Maybe it needs a new motherboard? I have no ideas. I could probably try asking my Computer Tech teacher at school.
Did you try doing what I said in my post? I've had a similar problem, like I said before. I'm not saying that all computer repair places are bad, but sometimes they just lie in order to get more money out of you.

Anyways if you did try what I said, try and take it to your teacher, yes, it's worth a shot. If that doesn't work out, try see if you still have warranty on the laptop and send it in to repair. They'll tell you the expected price before they repair it, and if you don't like it, they'll send the laptop back, without being repaired.
The situation may not be as severe as the pc shop said, they tend to over exaggerate. Is everything internally in the pc hooked up? No loose wires? Any suspicious downloads recently? I'm guessing something corrupted your windows installation....figures you don't have a repair disk.

If you could actually go to another pc like a friends or something and download ubuntu to a flash drive and boot into it with your pc. You can check to see if your files and such still exist even if windows is corrupted. (I'm not 100% sure how to actually setup ubuntu on a flash drive i've never needed to myself, but it has helped alot for people with similar issues) Try looking up ow to online on the actually working device :P

How are your issues coming along? Did you end up buying a whole new PC?

Not yet. Still using shitty laptop. Though, by doing some cleaning, it is running a lot faster then before. I still do have the computer though. I do want to try to find a way to get all my files back from the hard drive and find some old files lying around on it.
