I'm not sure we'd really want to use ports of songs from existing games, considering the current rendition of YIAddmusic can't really add more songs to the game than there already are. I'd rather see some custom-made tracks that can still capture the feeling of original Yoshi's Island.
I think it'd be appropriate to make a new fortress song, something to use on those x-4 levels.

Y'know, it almost feels like it'd be a great map theme, too... It makes me think, wouldn't it be cool if we could let players set any theme in the game as the map theme? Would be an interesting reward for beating the game, a sound test of sorts...

It's a really great theme. I've already offered comments on the original MP3 on IRC, so I don't have much to add in regards to the port - well done.

Yeah, possibly. It would only really work after beating the game though, as you suggested (namely because the original map tracks "evolve" and this could cause problems if you changed tracks on the fly).

Eh, this song isn't really good. IMO, Jimmy kinda butchered it. In the midi, it had these background strings that made the song calming and majestic, but without them, it sounds kinda weird, and how some instruments are kinda louder than in the midi. If it was a bit more like the midi version, i'd be happy.

The point was to make it sound like something out of YI, which is my reasoning for replacing the smooth string chords with something more rhythmic and articulated. SNN seemed to like the changes when I presented them to him, so I stuck with it. (Also this is the first negative comment I've received about any of the changes--I'm curious to hear what others think of them now.)

I kind of agree about some parts being too loud though; I'll probably go back and adjust some of the volumes.
I'll weigh in.

It still doesn't sound like it would fit in a cave. I kinda think it lost a lot of the depth it had with the cymbals (which YI has, in the final boss battle) which kinda helped with distinguishing the sections of it. And yeah, the pianos are ever so slightly too loud.

I'm not entirely sure if it should be rebranded into a cave theme either - it would be too much changing around.

I think this would make a great Castle theme, actually! The original theme was shorter and more ominous-sounding, but this is more march-y. I really like it!

EDIT: It also sounds a bit like Ganon's theme!

I like this theme, and it might fit some intense themes like maybe 1-E: Attack on Tap-Tap. I would agree how it would fit some castle themes, but let's not make this the final castle theme.

Oh, and some custom themes that we would probably use since we can add music with SPASM or something like that on IRC.

We might compose a(n):

-Grassland theme (SNN wanted another theme alternate to the Flower Garden theme.)
-Ice theme
-Haunted theme
-Fortress theme
-Final Castle theme
-Space theme (Already composed, yet it's marked as cave for some reason.)
-Extra theme? (It could be used in a few x-E levels like 2-E or 3-E. Just my idea, though it might be bad.)

Very fitting. My only complaint is that the chord at 0:28 sounds a bit off, but the rest of it is great. I especially like the occasional use of 7ths and suspended chords.
Maybe something like this could work as the "Final Castle" theme?

It's pretty intense, but it's not ambient at all. Fitting for YI, as it has no ambience.

I'm up for doing another one. Don't really mind which one. If I'm reading SNN correctly, then I guess lava. Is that ok?
When you use anti-perspirant it clogs up your pores. If you clog up your pores, you're going to sweat elsewhere: on your tongue, under your ears, on your forehead. And if you block all those areas up with anti-perspirant you're going to get a breath problem. That's just fact, that's scientific fact. And if you block up everything you're going to sweat inside. And get cancer.
Take whatever you guys would like. I'm going to try and fit whatever I can into the base ROM in terms of music, but these additional themes would be a good start. If we end up with doubles (eg. two ice themes), I'll do my best to squeeze them both in.
