You seem to think that criticism is a bad thing. I don't dislike Greenthunder's work, I don't dislike him. I'm not forcing him to do anything, I offered an idea to him, he can take it or leave it.

If he doesn't want it, he doesn't have to listen, I'm not going to push it on him again. You do not have to get yourself involved in this nor does anyone else.

And that is all there is to it.

Edit: Just so I don't have to clutter the place with more comments, I just wanted to say to Flame: I'm glad we could come to an agreement and stay reasonable. I do appreciate it, glad we could conclude the conversation.

Bad topology is a root to plenty of problems. The fact that he's going to have a bloated poly count is just one of the nasty side affects. And while we are talking about SM64, we're talking about 3D modeling as a skill which is applicable everywhere. Good habits should always be striven for. If he keeps up poor topology, he's going to have that problem, sure, but nasty shading problems in the future, poor edge flow, which will really bite him if he ever plans on making more organic objects, especially ones that require animation.

Further, the less control he has over his own mesh just means he's going to have more trouble editing it in the future. Good topology and clean modeling are overall beneficial things.

But ignoring all that, you say that these are small details that might not affect him too much in the current situation. This may be valid, but I'm talking about his skill as a modeler, and so were they. I'm saying his modeling has issues that can be worked on that would improve his work in ANY THING he models in the future.

They say his modeling is great, I say it's not particularly amazing. Does that mean the work is bad? No. But if he can get advice on how to improve he should be given it.

Yeah. When you put it that way, I guess you have a point. Even I can get meticulous when modeling at times. Any form of advice is for the better I suppose.
As much as I love all of the spicy remarks toward criticism, you guys should really calm down. As much as the creators love to hear that others appreciate their work, criticism is useful in which the creator can consider tips and improve their work even more.
Anyhow, I see how faces could be wasted in this situation. As others state, it's not a big problem as we can have 20,000 polygons now, but it's just a pet peeve of mine to be wasting polygons when it could be avoided. Not to mention that we could be saving some GPU/CPU power with the methods that take nothing out of the in-game visual. Who doesn't want some extra CPU/GPU space to keep your background programs running like a charm? :)
But nevertheless, I like most of GreenThunder's models. His texture choice is usually what I like, although I'm looking forward to seeing more in SM64 and outside of Sketchup :P Keep it up, and remember, there's always room for improvement for everyone.
Megaman511again, could you please stop supporting any negative thing directed to Mr. G? I've observed some of your recent posts and that is just what it seems like, and to UnknownToaster, can you post one of your models here, so we see who is better because I highly doubt you know about modeling, I've watched Kinopio's tutorial and you HAVE to triangulate in order to texture map as you can see what he did with that roof and curve, it's made of triangles and not squares? And you say you don't have anything against Mr. G, Yes, I believe you. This seems extra friendly, He has been ignoring since all along and ignoring a bully doesn't get a problem solved. Either ways, I don't see any problem with the model, it looks kind of good like others said, looking forward :D

You don't need to be skilled at modeling to critique someone's model. That's like saying you need to be skilled at music to critique someone's song, I could go on.

So.. because people wanted to nominate me means I automatically hate him or something? Wow.
Can this argument please stop? Thanks.
ugh enough arguing we are here to talk about a great romhack and its progress. People should be allowed to judge the model, helps yhe creator know how to improve on their design, but on the other side it shouldnt be downplayed as less than it is.

Great model btw mr.g , looks detailed :)

To clarify, that comment was taken out of context.
"Fuck your bad vibes bro!" was just a joke playing on the idea that he was saying that no one needed to vote anymore, and that regardlss I was going to vote anyways, even if it wouldn't count anyways, since public voting is more for fun than it is for a serious contest.

It wasn't a hate or spite filled comment. Had I wanted to say something hateful towards someone it would have much more substance. You went and picked the ONLY comment I have made to Mr. Greenthunder outside of here and it was intended to be light hearted. Again, I have nothing against him, if he took offense to it then I am sorry, but there's nothing to the words.

As for the the rest of what you said, I have nothing more to say on the subject. If you want to argue with me, just message me, I'd be happy to talk with you, but I refuse to talk about this subject on here anymore. I did however find it necessarily to respond to the rest as clearly there was a misunderstanding.
Anyone else who continues this argument about whether or not UnknownToaster or Megaman511again hate Mr. Greenthunder and whoever is trying to force UT to post his own modeling work to "validate" his criticism is getting banned.

pie and Megaman are right: you do NOT need to be a good modeler to be able to critique models and every bit of criticism is helpful. I'd say you're doing more harm to the hack with blind praise than anything else. "Good" does not mean "can not be improved further."

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Alright, time for some update. Been working on JRI for some while  now and decided to show some progress. The music I'm going to use will be songs of storm as it will be based off Great Sea from Wind Waker or SSBB and little of Crash Bandicoot. I plan on making it rain and adding a fake animated thunder some where in the sky(I drew the texture) like how I animated the muncher I posted sometime ago with some little behaviour scripting and F3D. Anyways, time to see some screen shots.

Look, I added a waterfall! And you can actually FEEL it flowing on the mesh.

Mario on the top of the mast. From the mast you can get to another area, I'm still gonna give my ship a makeover.

A building! What more can I say? And don't worry about the little overshading, I'll fix it.

Some little platforms that aid you on getting to the building.

In the building's mouth, I plan on adding some fire to make a torch, Also found a really easy way to vertex color which is talking the particular face I want to color and exporting only it, importing it to the and looking at the vertex data and copying it then CTRL+F ing it in the whole level data, anyways, I'll color that part of it to a little orange to show some fire light.

A view of the yet incomplete Jolly Rodger Island(JRI) from the top.

An unreachable area with a house and a bridge and some trees, I think making stuffs at unreachable adds some life and detail.

That's all for now, can I get some feedback and constructive criticism so I improve more?

Overall, the level looks very smooth. The vector magnitude of the shading looks appealing to my eyes, and the texture choice is always my favourite aspect of yours. The only tip I guess I can give is that the completely solid water could be avoided by setting up a custom object at position (00,00,00), which loads the vertices of all the water with an 0xFB applied and having it run on an alpha geo layout. Then just null out the 0xBF's after the 0x04s of the water in the level's display list. Doesn't really need to be done, but might look a wee bit nicer.
Anyhow liking the progress and look forward to more
I like this! I can't really see anything to criticise except some little stretched texture on the 3rd screenshots, I'm looking forward too!
Cancelled, nothing to say again #ab{;_;}

okay now start modelling for me.
wait does that mean its not cancelled anymore?
because that would be AWESOME!
#hopeitsback
Cancelled then re-up again? Darn Cacky, you're so full of jokes! #w{:>}

Nice modelling, I like it!
SUPER CRASH TIME YEAH!

He did legitimately cancel the hack for a bit, then brought it back.
Do you believe in magic? Everyone should now.....it lives :D

Beautiful work Cackletta Mr. G. As always it looks absolutely stunning! Better than anything I could ever do......#w{>=(} haha.

But yeah, I can't wait to see more of your courses! A snow course would look beautiful with this high quality of modelling....
