TSRP2R! [v2.2 released]

Link Thread Closed

Standard

I got to admit, I'm enjoying this hack more so than the original TSRP2. 8>
I noticed that you made some tricky spots a bit easier for everyone (if the switches are active), and that the level order is very different than the original and are in their respective worlds.
Heck, unlike the original, you can re-enter switch areas the same way you enter cleared fortresses/castles. I liked it. #lm{ow16xsel} #lm{owdestlv}
I liked your previous hacks, especially the prequel (TSRPR). Keep it up, and I look forward to TSRP3. I'm proud of you, with all the work you did. #smw{:TUP:}

@SLBros.: As for the submap-palette that is no glitch. All map-palettes change at one point.

What level triggers the special colored submaps and which one is special (green or pink) ? I never saw Catgoom Kingdom in Green.

You have to beat "Battle of the Mages" for the special palette to take effect. Also, the pink Catgoom Kingdom is part of the special palette.

While I got to Construction Site(part 6 of my LP), I did notice that when I made a certain jump, I died, becuase a certain blended too good with the BG. Not a big issue, but still.
Parts 4, 5 and 6 are available.
Also, please tell if I missed a secret exit in my LP.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

I claimed this hack shortly after you posted it (plus Counterfeit and Mirann took all of the shorter submissions) and... well, I'll just say that nostalgia can be a pretty deadly device, and when I get finished with this game that to not expect any special treatment from me.

Stop using this thread to advertise your own material. If people want to see your stuff, they will on their own. Otherwise, them's the brakes. This isn't the first time you've used another thread to shamelessly plug your own material, and I doubt it will be the last.

This will be the only warning I give you.

I found a certain glitch in Treetop Atletics. If Mario stands on an entrance in the tree, he dies. I couldn't believe it.

In the eight videos you've posted at the time I write this, you haven't missed anything besides the first two Top Secret Areas. Unlike Marty Mole, I'll be more direct in telling you where they are:

"By pressing the yellow switch, you made it possible to access the first two Top Secret Areas. The first isn't hidden very well, though. It's in a cave. Ignore the obvious bonus pipe." Marty is referring to Goomba Cave in the first world.

"The second is guarded by Hedgehogs and Caterkillers..." Two levels fit this criteria, but the level you really need to go to is High Hill Thrill in the second world.

I was wondering. Can someone post up the pictures for the non-standard game over screens? From what I learned and played about this game, I never did get to see the two bad endings when I beat it. lol

Probably you haven't gone through the secret level - Battle of the Mages. In this level you can get the two bad endings.
Both of them are just one screen: in one of them, mario is petrified, and in the other, he is caught in a jail.

Bye.
Okay, here are the pictures of the Game Overs:

Give Thirlox' power device to Thirlox.

Give Thirlox' power device to Kamek.

Try to fight Zycloboo without help from the Catgoom Kingdom. (This is actually part of a longer sequence.)

As a bonus, I'll post all three different ending screens:

Beat the game without clearing "Battle of the Mages".

Clear "Battle of the Mages" and beat the game without all the remaining goals.

Beat the game with all 112 goals found.

I did come across Battle of the Mages, and I finished it. The one level I have yet to legitimately complete is Hotel Horror. That one I had to cheat my way through. x.x Bleh. But it is good to see the multiple endings. This is probably the only Super Mario World game I've ever seen to have multiple endings. Not sure if there are others out there though.
Hotel Horror is imo the easiest level of the Catgoom Kingdom, it just seemed really obvious to me, maybe it's because I play a lot of puzzle games ? Dunno.
I never realized that completing the Top Secret Areas would count as exits of their own. :P #lm{owev2}
I never really was one for puzzles and such. lol Now I absolutely love the music. I got a penchant for really liking dark music. My two most favorite of them all is Magic Mechanics and Dark Side of Light. The latter feels like it would fit for what it implies, an action/puzzle level set at night. Magic Mechanics is my most favorite out of the two. It really drives it home when it's combined with the slow-moving background with Maniac Manor in the far distance. It gives that sense and feel of a foreboding presence that resides within it. And the theme also befits an evil character who uses technology to empower his magic tricks. xD
FPI, is there still time for another suggestion? Because I'd like to suggest a better background for Starshine Top.

You've used a background from Kirby's Avalanche (or Kirby's Ghost Trap), during the pre-battle dialogue for Heavy Mole, Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright, Kracko, and Meta Knight:

However, there's a version of that same background during King Dedede's scenes.

I think this one is more appropriate for Starshine Top, since according to the backstory, Starshine Valley was an eternally dark valley filled with ghosts until Thirlox sucked up all the darkness into a special gateway he built, leaving behind a beautiful valley that's never dark, not even at night. However, it's possible that Thirlox sucked up the local darkness too, even though the map for Starshine Mountain doesn't suggest it:

Also, about TSRPR v1.2, will you apply Mattrizzle's Iggy Hair Fix patch? I'm asking because Iggy has different hair between his battle and his appearance during the photo album:

Also, Wendy needs her bow fixed badly:

SMWiki has information on how to fix this (yes, it's still useful even when the SMWC staff is planning to shut it down):

Originally posted by the editors at SMWiki
There is also an issue where Wendy's bow's graphics are jumbled in an animation where she looks side to side. To fix this, replace the strings at these addresses with the following:
• 0x1D1AF: 08
• 0x1D1B5: 08
• 0x1D3D7: 1F 1E
• 0x1D3DD: 1E 1F

Finally, I have a fix that restores a missing animation for Morton, Roy, and Ludwig when they get stomped. It also changes the pose they make when Morton and Roy fall from the ceiling and when Ludwig uncurls from his shell. They're just simple string replacements like for Wendy's bow:

Morton:
0x1DC4A: 3A 3C 3D 3B

Roy:
0x1DCDA: 3A 3C 3D 3B

Ludwig:
0x1DD6A: 3A 3C 3D 3B

PS: Yoshi's head is two pixels out of alignment in Bowser's Starship:

Oh, wait... and I thought I just beat the game. I didn't realise it has alternate endings, lol. That's why I thought the ending looks quite weird for the end. Gonna check if I missed something.
guys what should I do to complete the battle of mages because all paths are blocked by the magic Kammek I already completed the game with the good ending and even that the paths are still blocked.
Talk to Kamek.
I'm loving this hack so far. I reached World 5 now. There is a little glitch with the score.
saske:
Talk to the Fire Brother at the beginning of the level WHEN you have this so-called power device.

Maruhai: If you give this power device to Kamek, your game will be over. Same with giving it to Thirlox. |-O
Given that TSRP2 was the first hack I ever completed I couldn't just ignore this, I had to sit down and play the entire thing in one go asap. And I am in no way at all let down even in the slightest bit. The levels still have the same feeling they did before keeping a heavy nostalgia factor. The story was so much more expansive, there wasn't much to show for in the original in this aspect but it is extremely in-depth and the addition of the Powercats taking a role as well is wicked, along with all the new characters in it. The graphics are lovely regardless that most of the FG and BG graphics weren't really changed that much. And of course, the music is killer. I loved pretty well every track in this and the four of you really brought a whole new world of life to this with the sound.

I'm awestruck. This was incredible and even though TSRPR was an absolutely amazing hack I can still say this one blows that right out of the water. Kudos to you FPI.
