The ADSR Thread (For AddmusicK)

Link Thread Closed
Note: This thread has been archived, and is thus outdated. Please refer to the new thread in the Custom Music subforum! - https://smwc.me/1510174

There was an older thread for this, but the OP is now gone and this is its replacement. Anyone can contribute ADSR to the thread as long as it sounds okay. Remember, all of the ADSR here only works with AddmusicK, using the #instruments command.

That's a pretty shitty ADSR, if you ask me.

These are the ones I normally use:

Strings: @1 $fa $e0 $00 $03 $00. With some soft vibrato and echo, it does its job pretty well. Can also use $f9 instead, by the way.

Harp: @0 $be $6c $00 $06 $00. Sounds better if the notes are split into two channels, as seen here (0:22).

Bass Section: @4 $ac $88 $00 $03 $00. Same spc as above, at 1:09. Can also be used as a trumpet, I think?

Percusive Organ: @6 $cf $60 $00 $03 $00. No sample spc for this one.

Celesta: @3 $fd $f0 $00 $03 $00. Sample.

I have more somewhere, but I can't seem to find them.

Edit: Oh wait, here's another one:

Toms: @10 $ff $f7 $00 $08 $00
I'm going to sticky this thread, unless another moderator/staff member deems un-necessary, because I feel this thread can help out quite a lot of porters who are looking for new cool effects. (Providing if people do submit them)

Why hasn't something like this been done before? It can be useful for both new and veteran porters, well, it has the potential to be.
Wait wait wait I'm confused.

I thought ADSR was $ED $DA $SR, but these are completely different; am I missing something?
This is AMK ADSR that you put in #instruments. For example:

#instruments
{
@0 $BE $6C $B8 $06 $00
@6 $FF $E0 $B8 $03 $00
}
Also don't forget the syntax for AMK ADSR is as followed,

Originally posted by AMK Readme

{
"sample1.brr" $aa $bb $cc $dd $ee
"sample2.brr" $aa $bb $cc $dd $ee
@0 $aa $bb $cc $dd $ee
n1F $aa $bb $cc $dd $ee
}

Where "sample1.brr" (etc.) is the name of the sample to use for this instrument (it must match up with a sample loaded by the #samples command). Alternatively, it may be @ followed by a non-custom instrument, which will load the sample that that instrument uses, or n and a hex value from 0 - 1F, which will play noise with the specified clock (pitch).

aa is the first ADSR value (to use ADSR, make sure that it is >= $80. Otherwise GAIN is used.).
bb is the second ADSR value.
cc is the GAIN value.
dd is the tuning multiplier.
ee is the tuning submultiplier (so dd and ee together are something like "dd.ee"; ee is the decimal/fractional portion).
All of those values are in hex.

If you're using custom samples for your instruments, then this command must always be preceded by the #samples command.

Hey y'all, Scott here!

This thread is for ADSR for vanilla instruments. I'm pretty sure that most porters should know about AMK's #instruments syntax anyways.
My main point was to try to explain the hex values for each instrument.

@3 $AF $AD $B8 $03 $00 - Vibraphone, use with $E5 $00 $06 $24 for the full effect.

@13 $8A $AA $B8 $03 $00 - Voice of some sort.

@6 $88 $86 $B8 $03 $00 - Harmonica.

@0 $87 $A9 $B8 $03 $00 - Recorder.

@1 $82 $A1 $B8 $03 $00 - Slow Strings.

@1 $88 $E8 $B8 $03 $00 - Synth Lead.

@9 $8F $F4 $B8 $05 $5F - Alternate piano.

@6 $8E $F7 $B8 $03 $00 - Fast trumpet.

@8 $8E $D2 $B8 $1E $00 - Strong Bass.

Will post more once I find stuff.

Doesn't this count? It's for old AddMusics but they're still relevant.

Also I was gonna re-do that thread but HOTL you beat me to it damn you.
Alright, I got some more ADSR to potentially add to the thread, but first I'd like some porters to tell me if they're worth adding (I have no porting stuff on my laptop, so I can't test them out myself):

@13 - $F3 $E6 $B8 $03 $00 (choir thing)
@0 - $FA $E0 $B8 $03 $00 (flute)
@0 - $9C $A0 $00 $06 $00 (I forgot what this was but it sounds decent IIRC)

Is there a decent ADSR value for a timpani? Also a crash cymbal since SMW's cymbal is VERY short...

Timpani: @29 $FF $E0 $7F $03 $05

I got nothing for the crash cymbal, sorry.

Edit: Forgot to say what instrument the ADSR was intended for, my bad.

@29 would sound better, as it's a longer and louder sample. Be careful though, it doesn't like octaves higher than o2.
I have some more ADSR:

Pizzicato strings: @5 $FF $F4 $B8 $04 $00
Flute: @0 $9C $A0 $B8 $06 $00
Brass thing: @4 $FD $E0 $B8 $03 $00

Reposting again.
Alternative Kick Drum: @10 $FF $1F $7F $03 $00
Use it at octave 3 note g. :P

Here's how it sounds
Does anyone have a asdr for the French horn ?
I'm working on a port that uses the french horn instrument.
@6 @4 or even @8 isn't enough for it.
