Huh, how cute... I love Alessio's bipedsaur player graphic and never thought I'd see it used in a hack outside of his own.

The title screen is badly messed up with corrupt graphics. I'm afraid already that I cannot accept this.

The intro suffers graphical glitches as well.

The overworld is unedited but the border, again, has bad graphics.

Vanilla Secret 2 starts with a new HDMA effect to fade out of the overworld and into the level. Cherry blossom leaves blow across the level. It's graphically polished. In the status bar, there's a ? block but it looks like it's part of the level and it's really distracting and disruptive. The level is really ASM-heavy and unpredictable - touching steam blows you really far back, and the sprites are relentlessly hurling stuff at you. Goombas jump really high. There are blank "letter" text boxes in the level. The on/off blocks are used well. All-in-all, for the difficulty of this level and the length of it, there is not enough time to finish the level. I died literally in the goal room at the steps.

Vanilla Secret 3 reveals layer priority problems with the status bar. The level design utilizes a lot of the same sprites and tricks as the first level. It's completely unclear how to beat this level.

So, not enough gameplay here, and horribly glitched.

Difficulty: Hard like Four Loko before the legal controversy.

Oh, and one more thing... the policy regarding SMWCP2's content is no use without Lightvayne's authorization. Currently, you are not permitted to use anything made for SMWCP2, including the graphics in the first level. Your hack will not be accepted as long as they are using these resources unless authority is granted to you to use them.
+1:
Wakana-chan
mario and luigi

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Nice C3 entry. Yeah, entry, not a hack. No offense but due to the lenght and how this is, it seemed an entry for a contest of some sort...and not an actual hack. It seems that you spent lots of work and love in your 2 levels but left the rest (Title screen, Overworld) unedited and glitchy.

Design-wise your levels are kinda complicated. Since they're only two of them, I'll analyze them in the detail. Vanilla Secret 2 is indeed complicated and confusing. I'd blame the graphics usage maybe, but at a certain point I had no idea of where to go. I took ages to realize that small pipes act as scrolling pipes too, and you need to be small to go through them. Useless to say that I didn't make in time: your time setting isn't enough to allow the player figure out and make him/her complete the level. Generally, to set a proper time in a level you should add the time you need to complete it without rushing + 100 SMW seconds. This is the proper, best way to use the SMW timer as far as I know. Vanilla Secret 3 is complicated as well, not like the previous one, but I wasn't able to complete it. I ended up to a death end in the cave, where the two bullet bill shooters were. Overall, it's not a great level design here: most of the hacks tend to be flat nowadays...yours is the exact opposite; too complicated. You must be able to find a good balance between flat and complex design.

Graphic-wise, the hack is split in two: the gfx used in the levels and the ones for the rest. The levels' ones were pretty appealing, I haven't appreciated them here though, maybe because of the excessive complicated design; I felt like they were too much for the player to handle. As for the GFX used for the rest (OW and Title screen) I believe they talk on their own, isn't it?

As misc issues, I'd like to point out that each message you inserted was blank; I also noticed the screen being a bit messed up while showing one (like black lines of some sort showing when displayed).

Difficulty is hard, next to Kaizo.

Due to the hack's lenght and its excessive glitchyness, I'd reject it. While you're at it, consider making your levels more clear, since, from my point of view, they're kinda messy and confusing.
my first adventure - by Finder:

title-screen: the title-screen shows very bad graphics. at first, i thought you submitted the wrong file, but after playing through this short hack, i've realized you didn't notice the corrupted graphics (you forgot to or incorrectly inserted graphics), or you didn't test your hack at all.

intro-screen: this introduction-screen had an unchanged message from super mario world left in it. i recommend changing the message, even for a demo. the berries are glitched up, and the numbers have funky palettes.

overworld: what strikes me more is the overworld's border. it is very strange with all those "x"s there, and its border looks unfinished. speaking of "unfinished", the overworld is completely unchanged, except it having a bit brighter palette than the original's. the overworld level namess are completely unchanged; it's also recommended to change them, even though this is a demo.

your levels need tons, and i mean tons of work. in the first level, vanilla secret 2, there was some sort of graphics for a letter and an empty message box appeared for it. again, test your hack for that. in that same level, there appeared to be custom blocks (or map16 blocks) that i did not know their purpose of: i did not know that the first block i saw flew me up in the air, and i also did not know that the letter was an item needed to be collected. in fact, there were so many custom blocks that did random things to my character that made this level seem "kaizo-ish" with all the enemies and blocks. the music used in vanilla secret 2 also seemed unfitting. it seems you intended to use custom music, but forgot to. also, like Wakana had already said, it's recommended that you give the player a bit more of time in this level, like around an extra 50-100 seconds on the timer. also, at the end of vanilla secret 2, the background graphics and the goal flag does not fade out properly. not sure if the fade-fix patch would help with that, but it's worth a try!

yellow switch palace is unedited, which has a glitched out and bad background that could easily induce seizures to sensitive people. if the level is not edited, do not let access to that level.

vanilla secret 3 started out great, but the cave also has unfitting music; please use cave music. i seemed to get random message boxes that were empty. i also got stuck at this level: it seemed to be unfinished, or there was some secret path that i somehow missed.

your graphics (in the levels) were great, and i really like your level design. just tone down the difficulty, and let the player know if there is some custom block that they are unfamiliar with.

my verdict is rejection.

your main goals here are to fix the corrupted graphics; those are your main concerns here; tone down the difficulty; and let players know when there is an unfamiliar custom block that they need to know about.

difficulty: normal to hard, but i'll go with hard.
My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
