NES Homebrew game: Sliding Blaster

This is an overhead shooter game based on an old shareware Multimedia Fusion game named Ballmaster2 and it's named because you're always sliding, and all you can do is boost towards a new direction or shoot in a direction. There's SNES mouse support if you use real hardware and an adapter or use the latest Nintendulator. Player 2 can join in to help out and there's a simple level editor.

The plot is that you're an Oxiclean detergent ball and the Big City Slider was stolen and it's being used by an evil Billy Mays to make Big City Slider enemies.

It was written for the second NES compo where a very incomplete version took 5th place.

Wow. This C3 sure had many cool and interesting stuff, but this is the most surprising one. I really weren't excepting a NES homebrew game. It even looks very well made! You just won my "Honorary Mention" vote. Great job!

Edit: Level down! Yeeeeaaaah!
I fixed a problem where level 3 and others could freeze upon winning, so redownload if you downloaded it already especially if you encountered this issue.
This game's actually really good, like Asteroids but more complex. Doesn't change the fact that I'm terrible at it.
The fact that this is based on a game that uses a mouse and I had to do my best to adapt it to an NES controller is probably one reason it's difficult. Try it in Nintendulator and set it up to use a SNES mouse and Sliding Blaster will let you use it. I did put in an easy mode, too, which mostly makes enemies drop health powerups a lot more often.
