Concept idea. I think this should be possible.

I've been hacking on and off for the past few years now. I thought of this idea and worked on it for a few days, but it'd be way beyond my capabilities. I was wondering what you guys thought of it and if it was even possible.

The idea is to make a Pokemon game using the Super Mario 64 engine. Impossible, you say? Well, yeah. That's why we're going to take some shortcuts.

First of all, the stars will be replaced by Poke Balls. There will be 151 in all, each representing a different species of Pokemon. (Unfortunately, evolution will be impossible.) The only way Pokemon "battles" would be able to occur is using the Fire Mario patch, like the one used in the final battle of Missing Stars. Separate models would need to be made for those levels in order to preserve the spirit of Pokemon battles.

Most of the "types" can be conquered pretty easily by recoloring the "fire" - purple for poison, yellow for electricity, etc. We'd have to get more creative for, say, rock type. The other problem would be forcing a specific star to be collected

The map layout isn't a challenge. The cities/towns would all be connected by warps just as many other hacks have already done.

I wonder how possible this would be. A lot of the game's core can stay the same (that is, you wouldn't need to write a crap-ton of custom behavior, especially for the player's character). The biggest need, it seems, would be to figure out how to work in the different character models.
This gonna be MUCH hard but good lucky on it. #tb{:]}

Some hack things why i are feedbacking on.

MY HACK what I are working on.

I don't think it would be possible, I think all the stars used in the SM64 is simply the same sprite.

So you would have to add 119 sprite to the game, sounds a lot!

mario 64 used 3d models as stars...
3d model then. :o)

Almost anything is possible in sm64 hacking, but you would need to rewrite ALOT of stuff, and its time consuming...

We would need two times the Kaze knowledge to probably achieve that.
Don't you mean Skelux? He knew x2 of what Kaze knew.

idk about that. kaze is pretty smart. and he was only 18 21 while skelux is older.
Skelux is 14, Some of you may think he is 67.
