First Video Game You've Ever Played?

For me my first video game was Super Mario 64. I played it for the first time when I was 3 years old, which would've been in 2000.

Some of my fondest memories from early childhood are that of Super Mario 64. It was just fantastic.

How about you guys? What were your first video games?

Ah, how can I forget that amazing moment? For me it was Castlevania Symphony of the Night. My uncle wanted me to play it with him when he bought his PS1 back in 1999, if my memory doesn't fail me.

Even these days, it's still my favorite Castlevania game, and heck, even the best game I've ever played because of the good memories I had with it and my uncle (who was like my brother).

Good times.
For me, it was the original Super Mario Bros. back in 1990 or so. I'll never forget the first time I beat it, either, with sweaty palms and bloodshot eyes wide open at 2 AM on a Saturday morning! Memories!
Super Mario All Stars + World

Thanks to that game I totally hate how all the NES mario games look, and NES games in general.
The first game I ever played totally beats all yalls' games no questions asked: Cap'n Crunch's Crunchling Adventure. Best thing that ever came out of a cereal box.

Okay, sentences that don't physically hurt to type aside, probably Super Mario Advance on a friend's GameBoy? That sounds right, anyway. I remember being berated for not knowing about and skipping the hidden 1-UP in world 1-1, so that must be it. Didn't actually get to play it much, though. My father hated video games so I never had a GameBoy of my own (or any other console for that matter), and I didn't ever see that friend for a long enough period of time to get far on his copy.

Might have been Super Mario World, though, coincidentally enough. I seem to recall the same friend saying that the middle block in the Top Secret Area only had a limited supply of 1-UPs, which seemed to be confirmed when we went back without Yoshi and no 1-UP came out. We thought we had permanently exhausted it.

Doing the math I think this happened when I was 8 or so. Or around the year 2000. Or somewhere in between.

And actually, being fair, that CD probably was the best prize I ever got out of a cereal box. A lot more entertaining than anything else I've ever seen then or now, at least.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.

OBJECTION: I win with Frogger '97. In case you've never heard of it, it's basic Frogger gameplay put into the third dimension. It got a PlayStation release and two PC releases (I have PC rev. 0, so the BGM breaks whenever I play it).
I really need a layout. :<

oh my god I remember that game it was the best thing ever

Anyway, the first game I played was almost certainly Pokémon Stadium sometime around 2000. Either that or Hey You, Pikachu!, but considering that was released late in the year I'm pretty doubtful. I mostly didn't know what I was doing and my only strategy, taught to me by my older sister, was to select the Pokémon lower down on the list (i.e. the legendaries, although more often than not I selected Dragonite as well) because they were more powerful. I considered my cousin (who also happened to own a copy) to be a god at that game just because he could hold his own in NPC battles with just three Pokémon!
Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES, at the age of 2, holding the controller upside down and still beating the first world. True story.

Also, I remember the front-loader NES falling on my head, along with tons of game cartridges, and me at 2 buried under a pile of games saying "Aw fuck."
Muh
Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Land, I can't remember which. I was like 3 too, so I don't really recall anything interesting about the play session itself, just that it was one of those two games.

It's maybe some Mario game in internet.named super Mario bros.fun game first time I,jump in ? Block and there come mushroom I,think:What's that UFO? I,don,t wanna touch it I,think I,die on it! Then I,take it and get power up! I,cleared game just 3-4 times
Only 5. Levels. second is monoliths Mario world 1,then comes 2 and 3 .
3was hardiest.That's all!
Me too kid.
The first video game I have memories of playing was The Legend of Zelda. Actually, the only memory I have of that game was the first screen. I also have fond memories of Game Boy games, such as Pokémon Crystal (I distinctly remember seeing that game's title screen, but my brother later denied that we ever had that game), a Spider Man game (not sure which one), and Donkey Kong (the Hurry Up theme from that last one scared the crap out of me.)

Pokemon Stadium was my second game, playing it right around the same age as I had first played Super Mario 64.

It was either Pokemon Stadium on the N64 or Crash Bandicoot 2 on the Playstation.

Both great games. I remember stadium well, my favourite Pokemon of the time was Starmie, and it's still high on my list. I'll never know why. Maybe it's just that awesome cry!

I remember Crash 2 well too. It was so fun, I still have it, and I'm tempted to play it now. The characters all had funny pun names like N Cortex, N Brio, N Gin and so forth, the level design was awesome too.
Ah.. well..
I guess it was Tengen Tetris or SMB 1 on my atari :) I had much fun on it. Good times..
Mine was Portal, in 2011. I hate that I started that late with gaming (I'm now 12...)

It's weird because I'm completely the other way around. Because I started with the NES first I prefer NES Mario Bros. to the Mario All Stars version. I guess it's whatever you were introduced to first since with games in general I still prefer the way 8-bit looks and sounds to 16-bit.

My first game wasnt even a full game. It was a demo disc that came with the Ps1.

Crash 3 was included, so i guess that counts as my first game ever.

First game I remember playing was super mario 64. I always got killed by that chain chomp in bomb-omb battlefield. Good times.
