Read this if you used custom music in your level.

Are we going to be forced to switch sampled soundtracks into unsampled soundtracks, if not, are there going to be negative consequences? I have two custom musics I'm using for my level and... I really don't want to remove it. The soundtrack for my level 10E, 17E, 17F, 181, and 182, I NEED. The level wouldn't have that same feeling if I didn't have that soundtrack. The custom music on level 183, I also need, although if we are forced to switch to unsampled... I would give up the soundtrack in level 183... #smw{-_-2}

The problem with your request Chineesmw is what I stated in my earlier post: There a lot of people that want to use sampled tracks, please understand this. I am one of those people.

We want this whole thing to fit in one ROM correct? If that's the case, please put forth the effort to find something that is unsampled.

"If you get your sampled port in the master rom, then mine had better be in there as well."

See the quote above. That's the way everybody who's used a sampled port is going to feel. Stop being selfish, I'm sure you can find an unsampled port that will fit. It's not an epic story filled hack with uber plot twists and stuff. This is a level showoff hack, and it's already been stated multiple times that music will not be judged.

As far as negative consequences go, I'd say said port being replaced by an unsampled port selected by another member of the community who would or would not give two shits. AND when that happens, you'll remember you had the opportunity to change it to something of your choice in regards to said limitation; an opportunity you did not take. I really do hope you go out and search for something.

Wow, I really do hate being rude like this, but some people just can't read.
There are a lot of ports that would fit your level just fine Chinee.

For my level, I wanted to find a song that would fit ice and fire, but I couldn't find anything and just used the default cave song and it didn't even sound that bad.

Your level is just water/castle/etc, you can definitely make do without sampled ports, especially if you don't have multiple 'themes' per sublevel like I do.

I decided to play your level. "Final Fantasy 3 - Searching for Friends" is fine, and it isn't sampled. But, "CUSTOM - The Final Phase - Total Rocked Out Edition" just doesn't fit the situation - is it really that needed to use long sampled track for very simple boss battle? I propose you to use SMW Boss theme here instead, it just fits here.

Don't tell me that removing sampled boss track is so difficult. It doesn't fit here anyway.

I can't agree enough, the only two solutions are either fitting every sampled tracks, or none, there is sadly no middle ground that wouldn't cause drama.

And that's why this thread exists - to track down people willing to switch to an unsampled track. A few people have already volunteered, which is great, but surely there are a couple of others who wouldn't mind using the default samples as well.
But there's also sampled remix tracks! Eh?

I totally don't get why people wouldn't want to use the remix tracks though. Having the same songs for an area will settle the hack's theming much better, making everything feel more connected.
Unsampled ports will fit much better in a Mario hack when done right in my opinion.
I absolutely agree with Torchkas on this. Unsampled ports are just great for an excellent collaborate hack like this one; but they must be done right.

When playing through my level, if you feel the track I selected doesn't fit the area, do let me know and I'll gladly change. I all about presentation you know.

I also agree with Torchkas and S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N.. I usually find it odd when a hack uses samples, and in each level it's something totally different.

It might be a long shot but if some people really insist on using sampled ports, how reasonable would it be to post all sampled tracks who popped up in this contest here? It might be that there's a track which could fit into several of your levels. For example if a couple of people have a cave level, each of them with a different sampled port, it might be a possibility to decide on one of them? Not sure if there's a way that would work out for people but it seems some sort of compromise to me, at least. And yeah, like Torchkas said, everything would feel more connected.

^ I can do that once I've dealt with ROM 2 (which will take much longer than ROM 1). Definitely a good idea.
If this is a Vanilla Level Design, why not have vanilla music (the originals) and give people who would play this hack on a Wii a break with all this complicated sampled track stuff that breaks there, or at least agree on a "here we go" theme "piano" an so on..........

If any song breaks on more accurate emulation (or on the SNES) the newest Addmusic will recognize that and refuse to insert it, so either way the final game will be crash-free.
