While I do find pillowshading in Rykon-V73's arrow lift replacement graphics, they are nicely made, especially with the second one.

As for Wuthering's ledge tiles, its simplistic and good for a first try. Though I am not sure that the SMW-styled graphics go very well with SMB3 (SMAS-SMB3) Mario.

And for Zildjian, those are some nicely-colored backgrounds, but the second one needs to have the yellow colored slightly darker, as it hurts the eyes slightly. I still like the vibrancy of the second one nonetheless.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Projects I support:

Spinjumper's FG that was posted a few pages ago also looked awesome, but I'd suggest dithering the magic with transparent pixels to make it look more like magic and less like goo.
Kinda in hibernation for a while. I hope to be back in full swing soon.

I drew some custom ledge tiles. It's not much, but I thought I did a pretty good job considering this is the first time I actually drew my own tiles in a very long time.

That looks really cool. I like the way you did those patterns.
My layout has removed you.
Thanks for the comments everyone!

Though the edges might look better if they were a bit more rounded. Maybe just use one more pixel to make the transition from horizontal to vertical smoother and see if you like it better that way.

I personally like it better the way it is right now, but I'll take what you said into consideration. Actually, scratch that out. I think they would look better rounded off some more.

@Zildjian - Really nice palettes! The "vanilla" gradient in the backgrounds looks very smooth and natural, which is a difficult thing to pull off.

@Spinjumper - Not bad at all for your first time drawing a background. It looks a tad boring to me, but a fresh, new palette should do the trick.

In other news, I expanded a bit on those ledge graphics I posted not too long ago and came up with this:

I'm quite pleased with the final result, and also quite surprised because I'm a lot better graphics artist than I thought myself to be.
This foreground tileset looks really great! Loving the palettes, but mainly the style of these ledges, they're pretty colorful, but maybe you could even use more colors for those ledges? Just like the rectangular ledges from SMB3 has a variated choice of colors, I think it'd fit nicely in your hack.

Looking foward for your good use of this tileset!
8 pixel tall BGs are getting kinda tiresome so I tried something else:

Don't you mean eight-tile tall BGs? Eight pixels isn't even one tile.
I really need a layout. :<
Wuthering: Those graphics look great! I really like the style of them and the latest expansion of it shows that it is really good.

Magiluigi: Really interesting transition you have there. Hmm, I could see some uses for it.
Wow, Magiluigi, that is really nice! I can definitely see it being rather popular among other hackers.
yo, showing a level from a super secret collab project. A screenshot is really hard to judge fully so I decided I'll just show a video! I tried to stay away from the usual level design standard that people have here and tried something else.

Video

This is for final world.
Nice level you got there! I especially love the song because it just adds even more excitement on the stage.
Looking pretty cool and hectic there, KY. Nice work, looks very fun to play.

Concept stuff for a ghost house.

It's uh.. something.
Nice work Lynnes! I like how you have to use a fireball sphere to make the blocks open/disappear. I just love your hackinng style! :fanboy:

e: Nice platte animation Grav/Harumi.

O crap I meant 8 pixels tall BG gradient transitions... although that wouldn't make much sense either, well, I was in a rush when I posted that so :P what I actually meant though is that fake BG gradients made out of 8 pixels tall lines are getting tiresome.

Well now you made me curious.

>it becomes as trendy as crazy geometric landmasses once were or as dead colors are right now

Anyways, thanks guys.

I love how the text SFX perfectly syncs up with the music. <3
(not that i don't like the rest though)

That's a very good-looking implementation of the automatic light switch gimmick. I like how the starting point doesn't fade and gives players a chance to study their surroundings.

I was bored, so I started working on this mountain/forest tileset. It's lacking in decoration (especially the dirt!) but I don't really know what else to add, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ledge bushes (like in the standard grass in SMW) would be the hard to draw answer. Maybe trees and things like that? Good work, by the way. Reminds me of the giant tilesets out there.
@Xinn-wow, nice tileset! the pointy mountains may look better with less sharp edges, but that may be just me. awesome work!

anyways, here is my overworld. i spent quite a while working on it.

My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.

Your OW looks pretty blocky... And also, there is a perspective error on the left bottom of the image you provided.
