12 Days Before Christmas Level Design Contest - Rules and Submissions (new deadline: January 13th)

Link Thread Closed
Welcome to this year's winter event. The goal of this contest is to create a short SMW hack containing levels that match the themes listed in this thread. Every day before Christmas, at 00:00 CST one level theme will be revealed, however, unlike the 24 hour contest, the themes won't be very restrictive and you don't actually need to complete a level per day. The rules are as following:

  1. Every theme listed in this thread must be present in your hack.
  2. The themes don't need to appear in the same order as listed in this thread.
  3. You can use various themes in one level, but you must use different sublevels for each one.
  4. Each level (or area, if you are using various themes in one level) must be between 8 and F screens long. You can use various sublevels for one theme as long as you don't go above the screen limit. I suggest you make them short so you have time to finish everything before the deadline.
  5. You are allowed to use any resources hosted in the site for your levels.
  6. You are allowed to team up with one person (no more) to make your submission.
  7. Submission shall be posted here between December 25th 00:00 CST and January 13th 23:59 CST. You can however, post IPS patches of what you have in the discussion thread before the submission period to ask for feedback.

The hacks will be judged based on level design and usage of the themes; the method for judging will be the same one as in the previous contests (each hack will be given a rating ranging from 1 to 5 and the judges will reunite to decide the top 3 winners). You can edit the overworld and the title screen; however, they won't affect your results. For the overworld, I suggest, you take the special world submap and add some level tiles so you don't spend much time on that.

List of themes:

December 13th: Grassland
December 14th: A cave with water
December 15th: Outdoors with lava
December 16th: Sky level at night
December 17th: A city
December 18th: Outer space
December 19th: A stormy graveyard
December 20th: A level based on one of the NES SMB games
December 21st: A dimensional vortex/Alternate dimension
December 22nd: Gold mine
December 23rd: Choose two of the following themes and combine them into one area: desert, factory, sea, forest and beach.
December 24th: Castle with an cold-themed Gimmick.
Looks like I'm first. So, here's my entry:

Right here.

Probably wont win, but it's worth a shot.
That's my entry. I'm glad I made it in time:
*Boom*
Note: the Wall-Jump SFX may get weird because of the use of AddmusicK.
Finally finished with my entry after working on it all day today and yesterday.

Submission

There may be some inconsistency when it comes to the midpoint palettes because midpoints were literally a last minute decision.

Well, here's my entry.

Please note that, once you beat the final boss, you'll just restart that level at its checkpoint. I installed the No Overworld patch without considering the fact that beating the final level takes you to SMW's default credits sequence, which would break in snes9x/bsnes because I used AddMusic 4.05.
Quintesson Judge: Silence, or you will be held in contempt of this court!
Hot Rod: I have nothing but contempt for this court!

I updated my entry so that the stormy graveyard is actually stormy.

clicky
Hooray!

Some of these levels are fairly tricky, but hopefully that is balanced out by the fact that they are also very short.

Bill The Bob-omb's Adventure

Just BARELY made it. If I still have time, I'll bring an update to add a couple things.

How to get the Secret Exit in
"VS. Evil Jinker"
:
In the Space Themed section (aka the area with the HUGE ships), once you get to the second ship that us under you, an orange Koopa will give you a hint to go to the hole. Go in there to get to the Super Mario Bros themed level.

Here you go. Put quite a lot of time and effort in this one, but it was all worth it.
fsdfsdfsdf important update

Fixed a few things. Most importantly, the other six levels should now be accessible, and the low gravity in Space Jump should still be present at the midway point if you take it and die later in the level.

Update

Fixed a few things that shouldn't have been revealed, and made
VS. Evil Jinker
doable when you grab a midway.
