I was expecting your 2000th post to be more epic.

Anyway, try using the * command to set a loop up at a certain point on a channel, and then reuse the loop later in the channel. There are a few other places you missed while looping also (more towards the last few channels)

I've actually never heard about this command before. Would have been helpful for some of my ports... Are there any other important commands not in the tutorial?
I Just Converted A Midi Into A .mml File. What Do I do Next?

Alright, i need a Addmusic god.

My rom name is bob.smc, its a CLEAN rom and i can open it in lunar magic.

I first INIT it, then i LEVEL it, all is SUCESSFULL.

But when i try to open it again in lunar magic, it says :
This ROM does not have 0x200 byte header !

But i could open it before inducing music in it, whats the problem ?

Maby try a.m.m.e (ADD MUSIC MADE EASY.) it is a lot easier and it has better gui than addmusic. Also, anybody know what to do after a midi is converted into a .mml file?

err, now it seems A.m.m.e dosen't get the songs in my rom. It says thats it is sucessfull, but i see nothing.

Well, i moved a a sprite in level 105, then saved it. Now i got it, but the music won't show up anywhere.

Just one tiny note about the echo command. Some of the tracks in the music section uses this command which adds echo to the level (like cave music and such). So, sometimes it happens that you might want to use two different custom music tracks in the same level, for example you start at a grass land type level (without echo) and go into a pipe in a cave part (with echo enabled). Now you go back to the main area and the echo is still there. Of course it's not a major glitch or something but I think it's annoying. Here's the way to fix it: Put $F0 somewhere in the songs without echo. If you now go from an echo-area to a no-echo-area, the echo will be gone.

So, for all the ones who might submit music here, it might be nice to add that command to your "no-echo"-tracks to help the people who are downloading and using the songs. Just a suggestion.


Just one more thing, how many songs can i add with addmusic?

I got like 15 songs and it says the data is too large, it is talking about my songs total or the current song its adding?

11-18 are available for the overworld, so you get eight new songs there, and because there are seven maps and one title screen, that's really all you need anyways. 20-3F are available for levels, so you get up to thirty-two new songs there. For levels, you should not have more than 6,436 bytes worth of music per four slots, and songs 20-23 have a smaller total space than that, but you're not getting errors there.

Level music groups: 20-23, 24-27, 28-2B, 2C-2F, 30-33, 34-37, 38-3B, 3C-3F.

Make a note of how big each song is when it inserts - not the text size. If you find four songs together exceed 6,436 bytes, you should space them out by moving the biggest song to a more empty group, and maybe moving a very small song into its place, so keep swapping songs around until you get a combination that inserts.

One thing, if you can't seem to remember, would be to do this at the top of the text:
;Inserts at # bytes.

Yeah, the semicolon is required so that you can have it in the text without AddMusic thinking it's really part of the song.

Because you got the error, as you may already know, you should try again on a 1MB ROM, then move your palette, levels, Map16, overworld, sprites, and blocks to that ROM if you're successful.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
