I'm currently making this hack and I'm only finished the first overworld but I need ideas for the second overworld, I have a little bit

That submap is FAR from finished, it barely has any decorations and there's no land structure whatsoever. Raise and lower some land, add water and don't use trees in a cave... If it is a cave atleast. I don't know what kind of area this is, but I guess it's a cave or ice area.

curve the paths

add small cliffs and stuff if it's a relatively flat cave, or large cliffs if its cavernous

undeground lake/river might look nice near the center

remove all the sparkles, they look gross

dont listen to anyone who tells you to remove the trees; they look fine and unique, just add a couple more in a group so its consistent. same goes for general decoration.
Hmm, I have some ideas to improve your OW:

- Use event for your paths, which will be revealed after finishing a level.
- Don't leave it flat like this. Build some rivers, lakes, mountains, etc.
- It's too bland so far. You have to put some more decoration. Mountains and trees is a good idea though.
- Maybe try some perspective? Some mountains, waterfalls, etc. Just take specific care about the perspective, to avoid making perspective errors.
- I think those sparkles don't fit on the top of these mountains, but putting them on the cliff edges may look more fancy, like SMW used them in Vanilla Dome.

Think a little creative. Imagine yourself travelling through the world and passing through various obstacles. It may look nice on the OW. Also you can draw the OW on paper, it also sometimes gives people ideas.
You can go here for more information.
It's looks really boring....
I'm going to separate this into The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. That should make it a bit more clear what exactly needs fixing.

The Good
+The palette which you used is very clean. I like that bluish hue, and overall, I think it works rather well.
+Assuming it's an icy cavern, I think the trees are a lovely, creative touch, which can be used for some excellent level design opportunities. I strongly recommend you keep those trees, or at least the idea thereof around.

The Bad
+Those sparkles are basically pointless. They are very distracting when you look at the design of the area.
+The palette of unlocked paths and the pipe. This clashes against the subdued blues that you used everywhere else, and it just feels messy to me.

The Ugly
+Nothing is happening. Look at Vanilla Dome from the original SMW. What you'll find is that there's a lot going on. Mario walks on multiple levels of elevation, there is a small lake, the sparkles feel well-placed rather than just sprinkled all over the map and Mario's path has obstacles which actually make sense. Whereas your submap looks... bland. It's all flat, Mario's path feels like it could go anywhere, and really, there's nothing interesting.
+It looks like you hardly put any effort into this at all, being honest, save for good palette use.
Thanks for all your feedback! I'm redesigning the overworld, and I will post screenshots! :P

looks more than a shiny cave to me. if it was an ice cave, it would have more of a light-blueish tint.
My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
Add different heights to it. a place where the player climbs up a bit, and onto a high spot. Also add small stuff, like rocks, icebergs (or boulders if you change the palette) and small fences.

Hello everyone,
I gathered all of your suggestions and here's my new overworld:
Please give feedback to it!

It's good. Only repair some minor cutoff and try to make different land forms.
Can you tell me where are the cutoffs and how to fix it?

WOW, what a difference! But... where are your cave trees? :P

The cutoff is just below the tops of your ladders (or... whatever those things that Mario climbs are called) one tile has a black edge and one doesn't...

I hope this helps!

It's still really square. Try to make the ledges less straight and make the plateus differently sized.
Looks much better, but it still needs some work. I'd suggest you to make some shape for it. Take a look at some OW's from other hacks or even at SMW's OW. Try to make them like these.

Also, I suggest to put a bit more decoration. It makes an OW more fancy and less "empty".
Let me post a picture of my overworld to help you out. Your land masses are very blocky, which makes them boring to look at. Add variety to make them look more like this:

Not saying that your overworld has to look just like that, but do you see how the land masses have lots of different shapes on them? Try doing stuff like this and your overworld will look spectacular.

Also, your cutoff problems have to do with your ladder areas.
