Problem with SketchUP: Can't open "Maxsize.skp"

Link Thread Closed
If I understand it correctly in the tutorial, this file is for seeing how big Mario, etc. is.

But for SketchUP it doesn't seem to work, it treats it as a file which it can't open...

Could someone tell me why?

What SketchUp version do you have? Do you still have the old "Google" SketchUp or do you have the newest version? You cannot simply post here: "HELP" without giving any exact details about your current version, etc.

It's possible that newer (or older) versions of SketchUp aren't working well with .skp files.

That's what happens if concerns like Google gives not a crap to their program, but simply leaving it untouched and sell it to other idiots. And then of course, they do their own crapload to it, making older saves incompatible.
Your layout has been removed.
Thanks for the answer.

I have the newest version, which might explain why I can't use it. Would you be so kind telling me your version of Sketch? That would be nice :)
...I don't mean to be captain obvious here, but did you go to File > Open in the program? Or did you simply try clicking on the file itself? Just making sure #ab{:P}

I'm also pretty sure that .skp's work for all versions of Sketchup (it gives you a popup, and that's about it)
No it really doesn't open it in anyway. To give you an example: Imagine opening a for example... .jpg File in it. That's nearly the same error

Furthermore, couldn't you tell me your version number with your reply next time ^^' This should fix all problems with it i guess.
Just to let you know, we prefer it if users keep questions to the sticky'd question thread at the top of the forum. I'm a little late to this thread so I'll let it slide this once but remember to use the question thread for all future questions. #ab{;)}

Anyway try saving a blank Sketchup file and let me know what format it's in and go "Help" > "About Sketchup" and let me know what version of the program you are using. Perhaps newer version's of Sketchup might be incompatible. It works like a charm on my version 8.0 Sketchup.
It seems like newer Version (mine was 13.x ...wow) doesn't seem to work (congratz silly google)

I gonna install Version 8 now and see if it works :)

Side note: Sorry for making this thread in the wrong place. I will edit this post if it worked or not. If it worked it can be easily moved to the trash bin or something.
@Shog: at which tutorial are you referring to? could you send me a link?

Here is the tutorial

And wow, the template gives the same error to version number 13... I mean why? I don't get it: "It seems not to be a .skp file for sketchup"(note: I have a german version of google sketchup so translation might be off)

Ugh, i don't get it, really. But I have an idea: Could someone here, load ths file, save it and name it something different and than giving it to me? Because if it works for some reason, than I think somethings off with the file in the tutorial.
The objects in the file are not scaled properly (assuming you use a scale factor of 500 in the importer) so I resized it and saved with SketchUp 8.

New MaxFile.skp
Okay now I'm certain somethings really fucked up: I tried to open your file, and it gives the same error !!! "It seems not to be a .skp file for sketchup"

...

So I deinstalled everything, removed every Sketchup folder in Drive C and I cleaned up the .reg stuff or however you call that in english.

Anyways, i don't care if my sketchup is german english or anything else: Which is the exakt version where you got your from AND could maybe provide a download file? If it THAN doesn't work, than I try Blender or something i guess.

IMPORTANT EDIT:

So I tried an English version of SketchUP 8 and more stuff and it all gives me the same error with this .skp file: "It doesn't seem to be one"... and because of that, it doesn't open it all in anyway (drag drop, directly clicking it, using "open..." etc.)

So I have a proposal: I just downloaded blender and thanks to google I've seen that you can import SketchUP files IF and only if they are converted beforehand
