Backside Aperture (savestateless Kaizo hack)

Kaizo

This is a simple side project that I had been working on alongside MMD2
If you're wondering about the name, it's another way of saying
asshole
. The original name for it was Mario's Gosh Foresaken Heck Hole but I decided it was a mouthful and didn't roll off the tongue quite so easily. Making extremely difficult levels, while fun, is kinda mentally draining sometimes. I am aiming for a difficulty about that of the original Kaizo 1-3. Little to no glitch abuse is required.
It's vanilla except for a handful of patches to fix some glitches and maybe at least one hex edit, and some tileset mixing (no actual graphics editing, except MAYBE in one part).
Level 1: Mole-y Shiz

I was thinking about a modern version as well as a classic version. They would be both identical except modern uses marked invisible coin blocks while classic leaves them unmarked, so it's like easy mode, hard mode. I don't think they will be absolutely everywhere.

Even tho I called it savestateless, I don't think I'm going to play through it all at once savestateless. Just maybe individual sections. No inhuman reflexes required.

When Chucks can be helpful.

Jump at the right time so the Mole doesn't turn around.
Level 2: Powder Puff

For the love of God, Mario, JUMP!

Those pipes lead to death.
Also, that balloon is a trap. Remember earlier when I talked about a handful of patches? P-Balloon fix is one of them.

Not sure how many levels it will have. It depends on how many ideas I can think of.

This hack definitely looks better than any hack I could make. Keep working on it!
Although it seems you didn't change the palates of this hack's levels so far...*dodges shoe*

This is something I've noticed with I think all of my hacks. The first level or first few levels use original SMW palettes (but not necessarily in the same combination as SMW) and the levels afterward use at least one custom palette. I think this hack will probably follow suit.
I forgot to mention this but one reason I am making this is because I remembered how much fun I had making Hertz Donut. It was my most fun to work on hack, even more fun to make than Mario Must Die. It was also originally going to be a savestateless hack but I failed that big time. Not that I'm complaining.
I was also in the mood for nostalgia as well as a self imposed challenge. Making a decent hack that has stuff in common with circa 2007-2008 Kaizo hacks and have it live up to today's standards seems kinda tricky.

So when do you think you're going to post a demo?
It kind of reminds me of something that JackTheSpades would do. (Worse than Kaizo)
Looks good so far. Some parts look like they're not supposed to be done savestateless, like that Chuck jumping photo with the Mega Mole, but eh (I like how you use it in the first level BTW).

It appears that there is a fluncher to fix here above the baseball chuck. Still, looks great!

Might be kinda hard to see but I put either a cloud or a rope under it. I probably took the screen at the wrong time.

I'm glad you knew which one I was talking about, I quoted the wrong photo! I fixed it though. Also, it was most likely a rope.
Looks great Soko, i just hope it doesn't get cancelled like your other savestaless kaizo hack, and it dose look possible without savestaes.
