My SMW Hack - SMW in Another Switch Quest! (Update 1.05)

Standard

(Update 1.05: Included the videos of the level 1-4!)

This is a hack that I'm working on. This hack inspired a lot by "The Switch Quest" by Lugmillord. In process of making this hack, I will need a lot of help. Hope everyone enjoy this!

- Story: Mario, Luigi & Yoshi is living in a forest. One day, a strange star road appear near Yoshi's house. Without knowing where it leads, Mario & Yoshi jump into that star road. But they sent into a very strange place call "Switches Land" - The land of the 4 Legendary Switches. They must to press all the 4 switches in order to get home. Can they do it? Or they will stuck forever in that strange land?
- Difficult: Medium - Very Hard (Compared to original SMW)
- Length: Around 50 exits.
- World: About 7 Worlds (4 Main World & 3 Bonus World)
- Featuring:
+ Custom Overworld
+ Custom Palette for some level.
+ A lot of puzzle (but not a puzzle hack)
- Progress: 10% (Very little finished)
+ Level Finished: 6
+ Overworld: Not Yet
+ Intro Screen: Finished
+ Title Screen: Finished

- Video:

- Demo:

I figured I'd take a look at this since it can be interesting to see what new users bring to the SMW hacking scene.

First off, you should probably highlight that link and wrap it in URL tags. To do that, click the icon with the letter A above the text entry field.

Now, onto the screens...

Screenshot #1:
The OW looks pretty blocky, and there is also some cutoff on the corners where the water meets the land. You should also remove that bit of mist on Layer 1 as it creates more cutoff and appears to serve no purpose.

Screenshot #2:
That logo looks like it could be cut off by the file select menu. Try moving the SUPER MARIO WORLD IN part of the logo up a bit. You may also have to remove the border around ANOTHER SWITCH QUEST V 1.0.

Screenshot #3:
This map doesn't look too bad, although it does look like there are remnants of the original Yoshi's Island map on Layer 2. You should also remove the smoke puff sprite since it looks kinda pointless.

Screenshot #4:
Another blocky map, although I do like the symmetry you have going on. There's more cutoff in the corners where the water meets the land though.

Screenshot #5:
This map looks very similar to the original Forest of Illusion, but that may just be because it uses the same graphics and palette.

Screenshot #6:
There are a few grammar errors in the message box here. It should say:

Quintesson Judge: Silence, or you will be held in contempt of this court!

- Transformers the Movie (1986)
Thanks for pointing that out! I'll fix it!
PS: About the hyperlink, for some reason, when I do that, the hyperlink didn't show on the thread...

You have to put text in between the url and the /url tag.

Anyway, the concept seems solid on this one, so I'll be checking back for levels.
The hyperling till not work...
PS: I'm learning for an important contest, so I will not always online.
You have to write it like this (minus the space at the end):

Code
[url=website address]Place text here[/url ]
Still not working...

yczedit: removed some really broken BBCode stretching the tables
Xinn put a " " in the [/url] by accident (?) -- remove it and then it'll work.

E: Silly me, I just noticed now Xinn already mentioned the " " so it's kinda your fault.
Oops! My fault! Thanks for pointing that out!
0:00: "Iceberg", not "Iceberb". And yet you spelled this right in the video title…

0:09: "What a huge iceberg! I wonder what's inside it…"

0:39: Lower the Power-Up block by one, so that Mario can get the power-up if he's already big.

Also, maybe raise the water path leading to the pipe by at least two tiles, to make swimming to the pipe easier. And maybe put an enemy or two in this room. Other than that, I like the shape of the landmass.

0:54: Koopa-hopping shouldn't be a requirement in an early level. Make this dragon coin easier to get.

0:54-1:05: Only one 1-Up should suffice. Also, try to make the landmass that the 1-Ups are on smoother, without the "gaps" in between each piece. I know this is an optional area, but there still shouldn't be Koopa hopping this early in the game.

1:09: Raise the turn-block arrow up by one, so that Mario doesn't have to duck under it or jump over it.

1:14: Four 1-Ups in a level is three too many. Get rid of this 1-Up.

1:14-1:20: Flat and boring. Try adding some land masses or something to create alternate paths. Maybe raise the water too, so that Mario can actually swim through it instead of just skipping across it.

1:43: Glitched goal sphere.

1:45: Extend the pathway so that Mario doesn't walk into the wall during the victory scene.

There are some good ideas here, but IMO this needs a little more polish. I highly recommend finding ways to make levels that aren't totally linear. The first room did a good job of offering two different paths, and the "detour" with the 1-Ups added some variety, but the last area (the stretch of water leading to the P-switch, then the ? block run) was very flat and boring.
This is my signature and stuff.
After I played pipe labyrinth again yesterday, I just found that item-babysitting is extremely boring. So, I will delete that level and make it a non item-babysitting level.
