Something else obligatory C3 post

It's been a long time, let's use this C3 opportunity to post updates on my hack.
As you may or may not know, Something else is the hack I'm currently working on. It is sort of like a sequel to Something. This hack is similar to Something in that each levels are unique and have different graphics/sprites/gimmicks. This hack have also new features like a new powerup, the athletic peach that allow you to walljump and double-jump.

To see more about the game, I made a video trailer.
C3 VIDEO TRAILER

While like year I posted a demo, this time it's only a trailer. And most of the levels show were already shown before, because there is some levels I don't want to spoiler. if I worked harder on my hack it would have been finished by now so I apologize.

About the progress of the hack, it is near the end. Basically all I have to do are:
-3 levels
-the cutscenes and plot related things
-some bosses
-beta-test it
-translate it in english / french
And that's it. As I said in the video, the hack will be released on the last quarter of 2013. I don't know exactly when, but I'm sure I will finish it before 2014.

Don't really have more to say. Enjoy the trailer and wait for the upcoming release.
This is one of the hacks I am waiting for to play,I loved 'Sometging'' I will love this one too I played the demo eaaaarly and enjoyed it cant wait the full thing!
The first "Something" was a good hack, and from what I recall from your contest levels, you have a very unique and interesting design style. I like the gimmicks you've used in that video (eg. the ball and chain pieces which constantly scroll to the left in the tree level). Some of your palette choices seem pretty bad though, such as the temple level at :48 which comes off as a bit eye-searing.

I don't really have anything to complain about besides a couple of minor nitpicks, so good work.
I have to disagree with SNN, I didn't have a problem with any of the palettes. I mean maybe the one at 0:54 could of been a little less green, but that's really nit-picky. Then again what do I know, heheh.

This hack looks like it will be a real treat to play. I didn't play the original Something but I watched raocow play it and I remember really liking it (I'll play it eventually).

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I love how from the trailer it looks like the chocolate-y things are blended together very nicely. It'll be fun to play a hack in which I don't know what half the things are/do!
Do you freeze your lard!?
Thanks for your comments.

The original palette of this temple tileset is blue and I kept it for the underwater part and for the normal part I inversed it to the opposite color (yellow). I think it looks fine to me.

Yeah there is lot of things I didn't show to make it a surprise when you play. My video could have been better if I showed more of the cool stuffs, but heh. For example, the beach level at 2:18 have a specific gimmick that I like and I made the video at a part when you don't see it. #ab{^^;;;}

This hack is looking very good right now! Can't wait until it's finished so that I can try it out. Cheers!#smw{:TUP:}

Well, damn. I guess we have to now. The trailer seems to promise a solid game anyway, even if it has that mishmash of various ex-graphics that I never really had a taste for. I do like how much mileage you get out of the cape/peach powerup, but I hope that the levels seemingly based around it aren't too tricky or difficult without it. Also, is wall-jumping part of the powerup, or can Luigi do it without any items?

Other Submissions of mine!
@Deeke: The peach powerup allow you to double-jump and walljump. You can't walljump if you don't have it (I even applied a patch to disable the walljump glitch).
In some levels the peach can help you a lot but the levels can be completed without it. There is only a small amount of levels that have obstacles you can only clear with the powerup but these levels give you the powerup at the start and some of them have no enemies and it's all about using the walljump/double-jump correctly.
The trailer has its ups and downs for me- some clips look a little bland, while others look like they have creative ideas. It's definitely something different either way, so the hack is aptly named :b

I wouldn't mind giving this a try (:

My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
Ty guys.

For some levels maybe I didn't chose the right place to make the video (sometimes on purpose to not spoil the gimmick). If some part looked really bad please tell me where. #ab{^^;;;}
Oh, I didn't mean that some parts were really bad. It's just that some clips look more like "standard" gameplay while others have twists to them, like the screen wrapping ball n' chains and the cherry blossom motif (which is awesome). Now that I think on it a bit more, a mix of familiar and strange is probably a good thing anyway, so pay me no mind :b

When I started watching the trailer, "how is this supposed to be different?, it looks very empty and repetitive", but then I saw that part with the spiked balls moving horizontally with all the action involved, and I quickly changed my mind. Then I saw the rest of the trailer and I thought it was quite good.

All in all, this seems to be a promising, project, keep up the good work.
