[Tool] STEAR: Remap ALL the sprites!

STEAR is a tool that lets you remap virtually any sprite in Super Mario World, including score sprites, bounce sprites, and other minor things that are usually overlooked.

I'd say more, but...I think it's probably kind of self-explanatory :P

You may download it here.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
where's amk

Looks really good, will sure be handy for people who like GUI heavy programs or can't figure out tweakers. I'm sure this will be for good use.
Out of the dead #w{=)}.

This will certainly come in handy. The features can be useful for people who would like certain sprites to be together. Thank you.

This was actually a project I finished in I think March or something, so it's had nothing to do with the development (or, uh, lackthereof, sorry...) of AMK, more or less.

You are a beautiful person. This is so helpful for vanilla hackers that want certain combinations of sprites, I can't thank you enough. I've always wanted something like this.

it looks great anyways
You have no idea how much trouble I had remapping some sprites for the Secret Santa event; ever since that I wanted a tool for this and now you come and make it! Ca't thank you enough :D

to hear birds and see none.
Making useful stuff like always! I can already imagine how much sprite tileset mixing just became less limited. Thanks a lot! :D
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
This looks really impressive and handy. I've wanted this for ages. Anyone can do hex edits but why do that when there is something like this. Thanks for working on nonstandard sprite tile maps, too. I see this handily displays the relevant addresses being modified; any chance of making it output a log of changes?

[?] Miscellaneous Helpful Hints
If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

If this tool can save your edits to a separate (ASM) file for easy porting, I would be all over it. Well if it didn't also give me the same error as Ladida.

I think I solved the problem (the program wanted to use .NET 4.5 because that's what it defaults to and I never remembered to change it to something lower). Can't say for sure, though, since I wasn't getting that error. Try redowloading it now.

It does (sort of) in the form of spriteremap.asm, which is how changes are made to the ROM. This should make porting from ROM to ROM easier.

See both quotes above. :P

Kip you just made me love you forever#fim{<3} (nimono don't be jealous >:T).

This is gonna help me a bunch, as I have to remap sprites a lot because of the sprite status bar. That was quite tedious to do, but with this it's gonna be way easier and faster.
Well then this certainly looks useful. If I ever actually get back to working on a hack of my own, I'll definitely remember this tool for my remapping needs.

Out of curiosity, what does the STEAR acronym stand for?

At first, I thought "Well, I can just remap them myself...", but now that I think about it, this could be pretty handy for some of the more complex sprites like the Chucks and Sumo Brother, especially since it outputs an ASM file with the changes. (Does it label them as well?) Good work. Let's see...does STEAR maybe stand for Sprite Tilemap Extraction And Remapping?

----------------

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
Quick update: Fixed an oversight where spriteremap.asm was saved into the program's directory instead of the ROM's directory. Wasn't really a bug, but since spriteramap.asm is important if you want to port ROMs, it should probably be saved with your ROM.

Sprite Tilemap Editor And Remapper. A bit redundant, but it's hard to come up with good acronyms...

Actually, this originally came about from a patch that I was making that contained remapping information for every sprite tile in the game, but I quickly realized that it was getting unweildly fast (just look at spriteremap.asm when it generates--it's absolutely massive), and thought a full-blown tool would work better.

Yes it does.

Fanatical like a Demon
I just wanted to point out that sprite B5 isn't Bowser's fireball, from what I've heard it's sprite 33 but in a special state. I don't know if you purposely made it show Bowser's Fireball tiles for easy remapping in the Bowser fight, but I was kinda eager to remap Sprite B5's tilemap because I've never known the tile numbers for it's weird animations and I've always wanted to use it in a regular level.
Major thanks to Suika Ibuki for layout!

Ah dang it, I was about to ask "Am I right in assuming that STEAR stands for Sprite Tile Editor And Remapper?" Welp, nice to know I was mostly right I suppose.

As far as the tool itself goes... without having downloaded it, I can already tell how much effort you've put into this. I like the way you designed the interface, not to mention the functionality.

lol, didnt even realize it updated

yes, works now. much thanks #lm{MARIO69}

@sokoban: tool says editing the plant might not work correctly if the patch is already applied; not sure on a vanilla rom.
