I think the whole idea of advocating for gay "marriage" is pretty dumb to begin with, since most of the debate is over the semantics of marriage more than anything. I really have no idea what alternatives would exist, however. Civil Unions or something like that I guess? I really don't understand the whole system myself, but I really see no problem with allowing those if the state is truly secular. It's a bit ridiculous to not let people engage in a harmless partnership.

This is my main reasoning for my beliefs. Marriage in government is pretty much just a technical term to edit your taxes, and homosexuals might as well get those benefits.

Only true Christians are not homophobic, or discriminate in any way. Egadd, if you want to follow Jesus, then treat everyone the same. That's all he wants you to do.

EDIT: You know what Egadd, since you love music, I'm going to show you a song. Listen to this. Listen to every word. Listen, and be saved.

First, I didn't listen to the song, because frankly I don't need religious advice from the people who made "Thrift Shop".

Second, Christianity isn't as simple as that. Jesus wants us to try to advance his kingdom, spread the good word, and help people with their sins. Dumbing down Christianity to that point is totally missing the point.

I don't want to shower the thread with disapproval toward the evil folk who are wanting religious laws implemented into government. Instead, I'd prefer to ignore them and celebrate.

Yeah, I can agree with this. I think, thinking about my post since then, that I was feeling very unsettled with the fact that so many homophobes are out there and we were ignoring the fact that they exist, but I suppose we don't need to see everything from all the angles all the time.

Go ahead and forget I derailed the thread and keep on celebrating :D
Apology accepted Egadd.

And just for the record though, the song is nothing like their other ones, for one it's A) ACTUALLY GOOD and 2) it does have a message. You don't have to listen to it though.
