Ending Graphics Messed Up!

  • Pages:

During the credits, I checked the BG, and they turned into steel squares, and when I revealed the Yoshi scene, the graphics are all messed up! My hack cannot be complete until I get some help on this. If it is not enough help, I'll have to mark this as a Demo.#w{=(}

Have you directly modified any of the backgrounds?

Have you modified Level 104? Depending on what type of modifications you did, it can mess up the graphics.
Everest, do you know the level codes for the backgrounds? I found 1C.

If by "level code", you mean the GFX file number, than you can just use #lm{gfxby}
In the first box, with the Change FG/BG GFX title, you can select any tileset. The text than tells you whitch number the different graphics have.
Like"
1: FG1=14, FG2=17, BG=1B, FG=18 T:1 (Castle 1)
In this case, the background file is in GFX1B.bin

I'm sorry I don't get it. I know I used the right patterns, but when I revealed the Graphics of GFX1B in YY-Char, I don't seem to get it. I've finally resolved the Yoshi scene problem, but I cannot rename "Blurps" into "Spiny Cheep-Cheeps". If I can get some help on how to change the steel squares into normal, original BG back to normal, I'll give credit.

Sorry but I don't fully understand what you want?

If you want to change the name of sprites in the end credid scene you can use Terra Stripe.

If you still have problems with your BG, you need to check for all the original BG files, if you modified any of those.

As I said, you can use #lm{gfxby} to figure out which GFX file they are stored in.
If you want them back, you could extract the GFX of an unmodified ROM (using #lm{extgfx}) copy all the neccessary .bin files and paste them into tha graphics folder of the ROM your working on and than reinsert them with #lm{extexgfx}

EDIT: Obviously, you use #lm{insgfx} not, #lm{extexgfx}. My bad

Be carefull though, overwriting them will erease all changes you've done to them.
In genereall, it's always wise to just use ExGFX instead of modifing the original GFX (unless you want to edit all sprites instead of just a few selected level)

Thanks for the help on the renaming. But what should I do? Use the Poison Mushroom, or the Red and Blue Mushrooms? I couldn't understand what you are trying to say because I am that stupid.

He is just telling you what to do in order. First you click #lm{gfxby} to check which of the backgrounds have their GFX file. Second, you click #lm{extgfx} on a clean ROM and replace them. You click #lm{insgfx} (not #lm{extexgfx}) to reinsert all original GFX after.
Ups...
got the wrong symbol there

Okay. At Step two I clicked on #lm{extgfx}, then I clicked on #lm{insgfx}, and then I put all of my back up sprites back on the .bin. But what is the point about the #lm{gfxby} anyway? I'm so confused. Oh and by the way, when I changed the name from "Blurps" to "Spiny Cheep-Cheeps" after revealing the names at the end of the game, the black boarders are gone. How do I get them back?#w{=|}

It is to check which original background goes with which file. If you already know, you can ignore this.

As for your new problem, did you modify anything else?
Ok. on step after another

1. Open an unedited ROM
2. click #lm{extgfx}
3. Go to the GFX folder of the unedited ROM
4. Copy GFX19.bin,
GFX1B.bin,
GFX.bin0C,
GFX0D.bin
5. Insert them into the GFX folder of your ROM (not the unedited one)
6. When asked if you want to replace already existing files, say yes.
7. Open your ROM with LM and click #lm{insgfx}

DONE.

Did you by some chance remove the border when editing the name?

I only modified BGs on all levels. Except Yoshi's House for sure.

Directly in the GFX file or just used the background editor? If it is the former, this is most likely the source of the problem. The latter shouldn't mess anything up. Still I would suggest grabbing the original grpahics from a clean ROM and replace them to see if anything changes.
what do you mean "on all levels" ?
Did you just selecte a different BG or did change the GFX files?

If you don't know how to use Terra Stripe, it's best to make a backup copy before using it.

In fact, alsways make a backup copy before using ANY tool on your ROM.

Anyway, what border do you mean?

I wish I could show you a picture, but I can't submit them if they are only from an URL. They where supposed to be in frames in a black BG. Oh and I followed the steps and the steel squares are still there.#w{x(}
