Games you gave up on

Basically games where you went "fuck this" and never bothered finishing it.

I've not bothered finishing death mode in Sound Shapes, because it's turned from "Challenging" to "Masochistic".

I also bought Driver Renegade but never finished it, because it was shit.

I also tried to play Black Ops 2 on Veteran, but gave up after played for half a hour and made about 2 minutes of progress.
I'm actually still (slowly) going for death mode in Sound Shapes, as it can be a fun repetitive challenge once in awhile. I guess that's more fun if you have a Vita and can play it whenever you want :P

The only other game I can recall right now is Braid. I gave up after about 1/5 of the game when I figured out that it's not fun to play. After that I heard of how incredibly stupid some of the challenges are designed (I mean it must be fun to wait multiple hours just to get an apparently very important collective).

I will edit this post if I figure out any other interesting games that I simply couldn't be bothered to finish (unless someone else mentions them). I'm also won't be counting not 100% a game as not finishing them because when the story ends the game ends (unless getting the collectibles / achievements is actually fun).
Demon shaft in "Dark Cloud" 100 floors!?! My weapons barely make any effect on the enemies! I may continue to get the "Chronicle 2" sword
Probably a lot.
-Megaman 2 (on Megaman Anniversary Collection)-I hated the fourth Wily's fortress boss, the one with the turrets behind the gates where you had to make strategic use of the crash bombs, the only weapon that would work, and missing one would mean being screwed.
-Sonic Mega Collection-after finding out that there didn't seem to be a save feature on the games and getting frustrated on the Chemical Plant boss. I literally broke the game disc in half.
-Zombies ate my Neighbors-the farthest I got (starting from level 1 onward, without starting from any passwords) was about maybe level 20 or 22. I hated the Snakeoids (more like giant worms actually) and having victims that turn into werewolves pretty much requires the speed shoes and frame perfect timing to rescue them before their transformation. Actually I hated all the boss enemies because they take too many hits of anything and move seemingly randomly. I don't think I'd have the endurance or the patience to play through all 48 regular levels in one session.
-The Impossible Quiz 1-mostly fear of question 82 (the one where you have to clip all the toe nails really fast before the timer runs out) and either 92 or 95 (the one where you have to click all the numbers in order and there's a guy singing on stage). I found it harder than the sequel because of not being able to freely use
skips
or fuse stoppers.
-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (GBA)-I don't remember exactly why, actually.
-Sonic Advance 2-I wanted to see if I could collect all the Chaos Emeralds before beating the last level. It is a fun game but the Special Stages hurt my thumb really bad, which isn't very fun. The way to get to the special stages was so much guide dang it, it was impossible without a walkthrough. Collect seven special rings and get to the end of the level without dying, which isn't very fun either. Due to the sometimes roller coaster/pinball level design, exploration is not really feasible.
-Metroid Zero Mission-For some reason the escape sequence after Mother Brain was more frustrating and annoying than the battle with Mother Brain. I might not have given it a fair chance, tho.

Tao's Adventure: Curse of the Demon Seal: This was an RPG that seemed intriguing. The main objective was to ascend through numerous floors of a tower defeating monsters by casting spells by drawing symbols onto the DS touch screen. The tower floors had little variation to them and everything felt very repetitive, and when the second boss continually kicked my ass, I just threw in the towel.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: While I know this is regarded as one of the best games of all time, I had played Twilight Princess first. Seeing as how OoT was quite similar to TP, I got tired of playing it once reaching the well dungeon.

Was really tempted to give up on Paper Mario: Sticker Star because of the tedious backtracking aspect, but stuck it through to the bitter end.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct: I played the game until the third area and then I gave up. The game was so slow and boring and it had nothing to do with the show. #w{x(}

Any NES Megaman Game: I remember being younger raging at these games and still to this day I can't beat a Megaman game.

BattleToads: It was all cool until you got to the cave level. After that the game is like "Oh you want to keep playing? Well we're about to change that." So many hours spent on that level...
;D

Final Fantasy III (DS version):
Played about 20 hours of it before I concluded that I absolutely didn't enjoy the game at all. The game was just too frustrating (too much grinding, too many random encounters, too few save points, broken bosses) and the battle system just didn't have any depth to it whatsoever. I really hate 8-bit era RPG battle systems and it was a mistake of Square Enix to not tweak it for this game, even if they were trying to stay true to the original.

Final Fantasy XIII:
Actually was so damn annoyed by this game that although I was already at the final chapter I didn't complete it. I just couldn't take a single more battle. The battle system was so broken.
SO
AWFULLY
BROKEN!

Yeah. Isn't it weird to see someone complain about not one, but TWO Final Fantasy games and not mention the story as a complaint? I have the feeling that a lot of people are focussing too much on story nowadays and completely ignore what games are all about: Gameplay. It happens especially often with classic RPGs like Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy VII. Don't even remember how often I have heard people calling at least one of them the "best game of all times", only mentioning "great story" as an argument and completely ignoring any negative gameplay elements (like annoying encounter rates). But hey, that may just be me. To me solid gameplay has always been more important than a good story, but if other people actually play games only for great storylines, that's fine. Or if they actually enjoy the gameplay I consider frustrating. Also I should mention that I actually like FFVI and FFVII, just think their weaknesses are often ignored.

To get back on track, though: Bad gameplay is basically what ruined both, Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy XIII, to me. Both had, at least, solid storylines and I didn't even mind the linearity of Final Fantasy XIII that much.

Secret of Evermore
This is kind of a weird case. I DID actually complete the game a few years ago and did at the very least like it, even loved some aspects of it. Then, one or two years later, I started playing it again and about halfway through it I got so pissed off by it that now I absolutely hate the game. All of that mainly because its absolutely horrible dungeon design, but also some other aspects. And I just don't know how the hell I could ignore the fact that the game contains pretty much EVERYTHING I hate about game design the first time completing it. Like, literally, I don't even want to think about the game and its annoying dungeons.

BIT.TRIP RUNNER
It was kind of a bad game design decision that made me dislike this game. In the first nine or ten levels it's rather easy or at best slightly challenging to get at least a regular perfect, so after completing these levels you are tempted to try and get a perfect in every level. Then level 11 suddenly gets so insanely difficult that it's nearly impossible to get a perfect in it. That level was basically where I gave up. Hadn't it been for the perfects in the first few levels I would have probably even liked the game.

Sonic Unleashed
Day levels were awesome, night levels fucking pissed me off.

Really can't think of any more games right now. Surprisingly...
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
Super Mario Galaxy 2

I enjoyed this game for like the first 3 worlds then it started to become irritating as fu**. It seriously more of the same accept for a lot more dumb annoying stars to obtain. I mean I like challenging games but I feel its only that way do to the motion controls. I liked the first game quite alot but this one I just find more irritating then fun. (Seriously never done some much raging.) I was going to come back to it but when I found out about the Green Star thing and said screw it.

I just ended up hating this game in the end.

Pretty much any game on the Wii with a heavy focus on motion control, but the biggest offenders are Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 and the Wii version of Okami. I really wanted to like these games; the visuals and music are absolutely phenomenal, but the wii motion controls are just so god-awful to work with that it completely ruined the experience for me. And while at least Okami has the PS2 version I can work with once I obtain it, I've got to hope that Nintendo does some HD remake compilation pack for the galaxy games sometime in the future for the Wii U. Otherwise I'm SOL.

Earthbound is another one of this, partially because the beginning of the game is so unbearably slow, and partially because I begrudgingly played it after almost being forced to by certain parties to the point where I still don't even want to touch the game.

I actually have a vita, and have Sound Shapes even then. I just can't enjoy it.
1. Spyro - Season of Ice (GBA) - Possibly the worst isometric platformer ever. I just couldn't beat it because the persepective made vital objects like the gems almost invisible at times, and hills seemed lower than they actually were.

2. B&K Grunty's Revenge (GBA) - A good game, but I just cannot beat the final boss. I really dunno why.

3. MOTHER (NES) - This game is ludicrously hard, because you encounter enemies randomly unlike EB and Mother 3. This makes it so that when you have low HP and PP in the game, you are essentially screwed.

4. Meet the Robinsons (WII) - Fun, and puzzles were good, but my copy had a fatal glitch that rendered the final boss fight unwinnable.

Trust me, that part isn't THAT frustrating. The trick is to not rush it. Be precise, but also take your time, because they don't crumble THAT fast. Trust me, there's more frustrating things in the game.

*cough15%Hardcough*

For me, I'd have to say Super Mario Galaxy 2. I got EVERY SINGLE STAR but the final one, which I never got because LOL FREAKING DAREDEVIL RUN, NO MIDWAYS LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL. The Hammer Bros at the end ALWAYS killed me, and Cloud Mario's kinda annoying to work with when you DON'T need his clouds. :(

THIS

FUCKING THIS

It took me about 4 hours to finish Odyssey 1-11 (not in one sitting), and when I did finish the level, I had 50/93.

Never doing a perfect on that level. NEVER.
Blaster Master (NES) - This is really just because I was very young at the time, but I just could not figure out how to get past the first stage. I'm sure if I tried it now it would be much simpler, though.
pac man 2 the new adventures: like seriously what the f do you do?
mario galaxy: i get like vertigo when i play it or watch it being played

Haha, I tried this game at three different points in my life but I could never get off of the first stage. I'd make a serious attempt for like 30 seconds and then just throw pellets at Pac-Man and watch him react.
Hrr hrr

I have that game, and I beat it βP. For the first stage, when Pacman is looking at the bottle at the farm, hitting the bird will make it attack Pacman, knocking the bottle to the ground so that he can get milk from the cow for the baby. I figure that if you cared though, you would've already just looked at an online walkthrough, so eh.
I thought it was fun, and I really like the minecart portions of the level β\

I'll also support that Pac-Man 2 wasn't all that great for me, though in general I don't like point-and-click adventure games so even if it was on PC I still wouldn't have liked it. I've also given up on Bit.Trip Runner because the lack of checkpoints made it really obnoxious to play, but I liked the idea enough that I'll try the sequel out sometime.

Is that the SNES game? I had that once. Managed to get to the city area before I couldn't go any further. It's sooo frustrating how Pac-Man just will not do what you want him to do half the time. This was before gamefaqs, too! >_<
