Major Complaints

Boring level design (such as long flat uninteresting segments).

Lazy sprite placement (such replicates of the same enemy type in groups over and over).

Extreme difficulty in the very first stages.

Sloppy and annoying object placement (such as floating Bullet Bill Blasters pasted over the Yoshi's House object, stacks of Munchers, and rows of invisible coin blocks).

The author should play some of the more well-known hacks hosted here and hone his or her skills before creating another submission.

Thank you for reviewing my ROM hack. I appreciate the effort.

You don't approve of it because the sprite placement is lazy, the first stages are too hard (which is the point of the whole ROM hack, by the way), the level design is boring, and the object placement is sloppy and annoying. Please specify where these problems are in the ROM hack and how you think I should fix them. Please provide pictures if you can.

I'd guess that those problems are global. You should just try to fix the entire thing (though I haven't played your hack).
These problems occur fairly often in ROM hacks.

I want to know where the problems are so that Mario's Deadly Adventure 0.5 will be accepted.

Dipalon, if you want to have your hack accepted, you'll need work hard and put effort while you've working on. You may want to play featured SMW hacks for an idea and inspiration you may use in your hack.

Oh also, you may watch cyphermur9t's "What Not to Do" video, if you don't know what's this. It's a video that demonstrates things you shouldn't have in your hack.
Version 0.5 is in my files.

In it, I've replaced most of the munchers with a more tolerable block
(black used block that hurts you if you touch it)

Annoying object placement? Fixed.

Boring level design? I worked on that, but the problem may still remain.

Extreme difficulty in the first stages.

...

Seriously?

Lazy sprite placement...

It's not that I can't think of anything better than "spam Thwomps";
it's that each level has a gimmick. You have to use that gimmick in order to beat the level, and that gimmick usually involves sprites.

The level names are puns giving a hint as to the gimmick in the level.

Oh, and as for the "What Not to Do" video? Could you tell me what I shouldn't have in my hack? I would rather read it than watch it.

Well... I played your hack and I wonder why this doesn't count as a Kaizo Hack. Unfair tricks like:
- Trapped by invisible Note Blocks so you have to wait until the timer runs out
- Mid-air springboard jumps (Copy pasted a lot)
Denying issues with your hack doesn't help anyone. You should play some recently accepted hacks to get a taste of what good sprite placement is like.

I'm sorry, I've been very busy with other duties currently. I agree that it would be better to provide some more in-depth analysis and will do so shortly. In the mean time, hang tight.

It's supposed to be extremely hard, so I guess it IS a Kaizo Hack...
What makes you think it does not count as one?

Prolly because Kaizo hacks are not accepted on the hacks section just yet.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
My hack is a Kaizo Hack and it must have been denied for that reason.

Thanks for the advice, you guys!

Version 0.5 is in my files, by the way.

I like this post. No, seriously. (read: what)

Anyway (continuing the main topic), you can upload your kaizo hack at this subforum, there you can get better feedback. I didn't download this hack yet, I will soon.

Watch out! This is extremeeeeeeeee!

Make your own Error Messages (they are images, so if you wanna make it for real, go on the Notepad and copy and paste this lol=msgbox("title goes here", 0+36, "message goes here") and edit some things out)
Err, thanks BurgerMan, but I'm pretty sure everyone here knows how a spammy post look like.

... by the way, how that can make this thread bump-safe? It was made just one day after Dipalon's post.

Also, please, don't reply to spam, just ignore it.
It was requested that I add some images to my removal log as visuals.

Oh, man...

I remember this forum.

Isn't it crazy how much the hack's changed since then?
