Mario: Lost in the Forest Team Hack (34/91 Levels Inserted!)

The first level of World 8 uses some foreground graphics Daizo made a while back.

The next World 8 level is a vertical level that uses the palettes an background SteeledMiner used for his level Molten Mountain. While the forground and background graphics maybe completely vanilla many of the sprites are definitely not.

Next level for world 8 is a cave level. The gimmick is simple some of the rocks are exanimated to turn red hot for a few frames in which they will hurt Mario.



Also the redstemmed piranha plants are not a palette error the are they SMB lost levels kind that will rise even when Mario is standing on the pipe. Here's a few more screens of the level.

This hack has potencial! This is another team hack i am looking forward seeing finished!

Coming back to see how this is going, and I have to say I'm as impressed as ever (I AM STILL GIVING INFLUENCE! YES!)
Hey, you guys giving "alpha" patches yet while it's done to world 8 or you waiting till it's released? I wouldn't mind LP'ing it btw when it is near/is completed.
So remember kids! If you ever get caught having tosave a princess from a foreign land after getting dragged down a drain pipe, jumping while spinning in a circle can help you greatly by allowing you to jump on spinning saw blades, ghosts, and allow you to control your jump better!

As far as an alpha patch is concerned first there's still no overworld for this hack yet(I think Daizo did the world 3 OW a while back however I have no idea whether or not he still has it) so the hack isn't really playable yet despite the fact that the levels are almost all done. So don't look forward to a playable version until I am ready for beta testers.

Anywho I finished another level this one is an ON/OFF layer 2 level with an entire forest sinking into a pit of lava.

Nope while it is a downward vertical level there's no autoscroll those are three different reflecting fireballs and three different horizontal reflecting boo beams.

Alright this cave level is the last level before Bowser's Castle and with the exception to Bowser's Castle world 8 is now complete. However I'm gonna finish the pipe world and special world levels before I start Bowser's Castle.

Alright the 4th and final Pipe World level the last level before the Special World essentially is a sky themed one.




Now for the Special World I chose to make the grassland Special World level a tree rope/log level instead. It is completely vanilla and consists mainly of grinders and various kinds of moving platforms.

That is a neat use of grinders. Don't often see GRINDERs + lineplatforms (I'm actually serious, most of the time it's fuzzies or chainsaws)

Two more special world levels to show off first is a rainy stormy forest level.






and because this is the special world it is possible to have the very next level to be the exact opposite which is what we see here with this desert level.

For the first level It looks nice other than the fact I can't really see those logs :/ which is weird due to how many other platforms and enemies are bright as day.

As for the desert looks good other than the pipe in the second last screenshot :/

The Ice Special World level is a littler weirder and more abstract in its appearance. The gimmick is real simple though you need to use the sparkies to break the grey blocks.



The grey spikes will break aswell.

Yup it's slippery I know it's weird seeing a fire enemy in an ice level but I was going for the idea of the sparky melting the ice perhaps I'll change the palette of the breakable blocks.
