"Legend of Zelda: Seeds of Time"

Link Thread Closed

Standard

This is a working title, but the basic storyline will go something like this, and is subject to change.

After the events of Link's Awakening, Link is on a ship back to the main continent of Hyrule when he stops on an uncharted island for food. He comes to a village called Dekusa where the villagers tell him (I need PEOPLE SPRITES that activate level messages when you touch them!) of a great famine that has struck their island, which the villagers call Deku, and is rumored to have mysteriously spread to other islands. Any seeds they plant in their crops fail to sprout, and the creatures have started acting violently. They tell Link of a Great Tree at the center of the island forest, but legend says that only a chosen hero can hear his voice. Can the tree help? Or will the tree be the one needing help?

Deku Leaf GFX, and A modified version of </object>MikeyK's Air Meter. The Zora Scale will disable it.

Here are the two newest sprites, and a new grassland foreground.

A Kargaroc wants to drop a bomb on Link, but will get a seashell in his face instead.

A Deku Scrub pops out of the ground to spit a couple of Deku Nuts at Link.

These are all from a mountain-ish area, with scattered trees.

Link about to whack a Green ChuChu with a seashell, and a Blue Octorock patrolling his perch.

A Deku Scrub pokes his head out of a tree trunk (They will come out of the ground in grassy areas)

Link picks up a bomb flower...What would he need that for?

A Flying Deku lobs a couple of Deku Nuts at Link.

Link's new companion, a Hylian Pelican, who is currently unnamed.

A Goriya whizzes a boomering right over Link's head.

A spear soldier charges at Link.

Looks very nice, ICB! I like your use of the graphics in this hack and the hack itself looks brilliant! I hope see more soon.
I noticed a small glitch. Look at the Rupee meter, it goes to C5 after you get a certain rupee. But other then that, It looks great!
Yeah. I need to fix the rupee thing, but I'm not sure how. I just want it to go to 255 and not FF. lol.

Are those things that waddle replacing koopas?
Why don't they shock you?
How To Design a Good Overworld
They do replace Koopas. They don't shock you because that would take a lot of coding that I don't know how to do, but I do have them set up a certain way.

Green - Can die with one Deku Nut, Sword, or Stomp.

Red - Stay on ledges, dies with sword and jump, but Deku nuts just knock it over and he gets back up in a few seconds (I really don't know how I did that, honestly, but it's kewl.)

Blue - Stay on ledges, walk fast, kick shells, can be killed with sword, but not Deku Nuts or jump.

Yellow - Follow Mario, Walk Fast, Can't die by sword, jump or Deku Nuts, can jump in shells and become super (Seen in video) can only die by shell, invincibility, or after it's knocked out of a shell and is stunned.

Hopefully you make this hack a lot harder, because the level in the video seems rather boring and easy especially for 6 hearts. Even if this is the first level, it should at least be longer to compensate for the difficulty.
Ha! There are no real levels yet. These are all just levels I threw together to test things. I dressed them up a little for the videos, but all of this is stuff is placeholder. I have six hearts because I am debugging and have them (and all the items) activated. There will be 7 hearts in total (That's all the health patch allows for)

I wouldn't make a hack that isn't challenging. Trust me.

This is really cool, nice smooth graphics and it looks fun, waiting for a demo :P Keeping my eye on this.
This is looking really, really good. You're level design is good, and this hack will be very "fresh" because it won't feel like SMW, but rather another side-scrolling game.
...and awesome use of smkdan's Sample replacer, I might add.

You are going to use the shop blocks and everything, right? But this is a really cool hack. :D
<TLMB> I use YY-CHR to edit DNA
Well, there's not really much to buy. Deku Nuts, Hearts, and magic barriers (basically it's a star) are all I could really set them to, but I may do shells and springboards, also. I've been trying to get bob-ombs to work in the item box, but so far, no luck.

I do have an idea for a "Pay to save your game" block, which could be used at any time, and would be set up in different places throughout the island, but I need to do a little research to write the code. There will also be "Pay XX Rupees to pass" blocks. I have to do SOMETHING with all those dang rupees!

It's kind of weird how you have to jump over trees to get by... Also there should be a way to disable the bomb timer when you throw it.
This hack looks awesome, I can't wait.

Someone make a userbar! (Userbar Maker)
Peace!Layout by Erik557 & LDA.
Thank you!

How do you get more hearts? Will there be Heart containers and Heart pieces?
Yaki,
I'm going to try to put in trees that you walk by, but they take up a lot of room in map 16. Besides, the broken tree trunks are what I'm using for "pipes".

Daisy.
There will be heart containers, which you will get after you beat certain bosses. Since the health patch only has 7 hearts total, I'm kind of limited.

(Whiter, I think your layout is breaking things)

This is looking awesome! Keep up the great work.
Here's a little bit of progress. I spent quite a while on the cave foreground, trying to capture the look from LTTP. I turned the swoopers into Keese, but I'd like it if they followed Link instead of just flew off the screen. The Stone ChuChu is a tweak of Schwa's Little Hedgehog. I set him to be invincible to everything but jumps, and you can only jump on him when he's walking away from you. Facing you, he extends his stony spikes.

The Tree Trunk "Pipes" are working now. I adjusted the SFX and the way they behave, as well as what image is used when entering and exiting, to make it more like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask when you jump down a hole. The exit "Tree Trunk" in the cave won't exist in the game. I will use motion blocks to lift Link up in a pillar of light as in OOT and MM. When he exits, well, just watch the video... :)

I hope I'm not highjacking the thread:
