Dark Side of the Kingdom ~ Team Hack | Looks like it died?!

I finished the first version of the river submap. Apologies if it may be a little lacking, I am still trying to get my creative juices flowing for hacking after taking a break from it. This is my first take on a river submap, so I didn't have anything I could base the design off of.







What do you think? Keep in mind this is the first completed version and I can redesign the entire thing if need be #ab{:P}
I really like that submap! It's coming along very nicely. Nice work! However, I have just a couple suggestions:

1 - I'd suggest adding some more decoration to the submap. Mayve some rocks in the water and some small aesthetic islands? Just to spruce it up, you know?

2 - The palette on the trees is a bit weird. I think the greens are just a tad bit dark. If you were to lighten them up a bit this map would be pretty close to perfect!

Once again...great work! Just adjust the things mentioned above and you'll be golden.

I feel really bad for saying this, but there's a huge problem. It has to correspond with the already laid Layer 1 tiles in the baserom. Do you think you could reconfigure you current submap to fit this? Then just send it off to me and I'll start a baserom update.

All right. I can probably have it by tomorrow, if not late tonight. One question though, are we allowed to use extra palletes? Or are we restricted to 4-7?

@LHB, that's perfect. I should have a baserom including that by tonight.

@RMG, if your level is done, follow these instructions:

1) Put all of your ExGFX in a folder.
2) Export all of your palettes and put them in a folder.
3) Export all of your Map16 and DO NOT save them as .bin files. Put them in a folder.
4) Export each level as a .mwl file.
5) Zip every folder and post it here.

If you mean that you need to start your level, go to the first post for the baserom. You might want to wait, I'll have another one up tonight.
@Egadd I have start it but I have noticed that a lot of stuff has been added to the hack and I download the base rom then this stuff was not in it so do I have to download the newest one?

in screen b of my level there is a urchin but he is going verticly and is suposed to be going horizontily,can you guys simply change the x position instead of making another ips patch?it's very minor!
Nobody will understand my pure hate for the redrawn tilesets.

New baserom update. Yep. I also made instructions on how to upload resources. Includes submap, BA's level, and fixed MBY's level. All good, all good.

@RMG, download this. Then make you level in here. If you need to port you level, make a .mwl file and insert it into the baserom, and start from there. Make sure you use LM 2.10!

I will cialm level 010: Cheep-Cheep River's Fortress.
Just like before, I decided to find the feel of my future level before claiming it. I'll be claiming Level 116 (and hopefully naming it Bubble Trouble) and trying out the new idea of mine.



I'm hoping to carry on the use of these moving bubbles, even though building the level will get more difficult and more restricted.
Looking good to me! It should be a stand-out level, as long as you change some of the palettes (and if you don't, I'll most likely end up doing it myself). Still, the idea should be great!

This is a good idea. But the palettes aren't good. And there are also some cutoffs. Me or Egadd are going to fix it though.
Bubble Trouble

This level turned out to be quick to make since I didn't need to make sure that whatever was built in was possible. The idea seemed simple enough, but there was a lack of background. I decided to put one in by using Layer 1, but this effectively restricted what I could do by making things more complex, and I had to carefully think about what to do to avoid making cutoff. Hope you enjoy and provide constructive feedback.

Tested this, and it was decent. Though the level design wasn't oustanding, the gimmick was used okay. The palettes and some tiles (which are cutoff in themselves, like the 1-high-clouds which have a strange outline) have to be changed though.
Bubble Trouble (Again)

I had to sacrifice the cloud background to avoid mass cutoff since that background was on Layer 1 and got stuck with the foreground. I also looked at some palettes and made other changes to make it work in the end. Let me know if it is any better.
