Want to talk about how a glitch made you die? Need help on Forest of Illusion? Can't find that secret in Star World? Then this is the thread for you! Share your experiences of Super Mario World, whether on an emulator or on an actual SNES, and remember to have fun!
One time I accidentally kicked my snes when it was on the title screen and it let my play the intro level.
when I would die it played the special world music.

That's cool. Also, I need help beating Tubular and I need some tips. It is an actual SNES, so savestates and TAS are not an option.

I hate that level.
the only tips I can really give is to dodge every thing and keep trying. (that is the level with the P.baloon right?)

I've also tried the cape feather glitch, but I never seem to go fast enough. Is there a secret to going fast, like button combinations?

what glitch?
If you mean the one wher you push < over and over I wasn't aware that was a glitch
if so No button combinations but you should only go slow if you mess up somehow.
try the cape again and don't push < super fast. try pushing < about every 1 to 1½ seconds.
I Hope that helped ^_^

It's the second room in Forest Fortress (0D6 in Lunar Magic), and there are 9 1-UPs at the other side.

Hope that helps!
I remember playing the GBA version a bunch. I used to find it frustrating, but it's s easy right now. Easier and more broken than the SNES version because of being able to hatch different color Yoshis from ? blocks. I was stuck on Tubular for a couple years and was the only thing stopping me from getting all 96 exits.
I currently have it on Wii VC and challenging levels seem to be few and far between. Yet for some reason I still find this game fun despite being able to fly over almost every level with the game breaker power-up, the cape feather. At least I'm not forced to.

How do you control the cape?! I can't hover.

Try doing it like this: While in the air, keep holding your Y and B button, but don't touch your directional. Wait a bit of time and simply press the opposite direction that you are flying, then wait a little bit more and do it again, and so on.

If you press the direction that you are flying, you'll dive, and if you hit the ground, you'll kill every enemy that are not flying or floating.

Thanks! Now to break Super Mario World!

I finally beat Tubular, then Way Cool, but after I played Space Invaders, all my data was gone! I started a new file and now I am up to Larry's Castle and Valley of Bowser 4 secret. (I know how to get the secret, you have to keep Yoshi to the end and swallow the key, then put it in the keyhole) Then to Star World and Special World. But the second room in Larry's Castle is giving me problems. Any tips or tricks are welcome.
I know that you can't jump if Kamek shoots magic right at you ( you'll die) and that if you're big, you have to duck. But the yellow block walls are the problem. How do you do it without the cape and not get hit?
Regardless of your powerup, you should be able to dodge his magic by jumping 'after' he shoots it, thus having his magic hit the yellow block wall, turning it into enemies. Do this enough times (or duck-jump into the small hole) and then you can get through. Alternatively, you could get lucky and have the Magikoopa spawn on the other side of the wall, thus not having to dodge the magic. Also, notice that Mario can spin jump on the magic without getting hurt.

Thanks! I got past #7 Castle and VOB4 secret, and I got both exits on Star World 1!
Can you really only go up to 96 on the title screen? I thought it was counting percent of the game completed like DKC. So i thought it could go to 100.
No, 96 is the total number of exits (regular and secret, does not count Front/Back Door, does count switch palaces and exits that do not reveal paths ala Star World and Forest of Illusion), and therefore means 100%.
