old blocktool is still useful for people that doesn't/can't use .net framework.
why is this site made the rule even though its"backwards compatible" with BTSD when jhonwil blocktool can still use it?

so is the site gonna replace all bin files with asm so people can't use the blocks with old blocktool on the moderated section?

Actually I think BT is outdated, and there is no problem to download and install NET.Framework for make BTSD runs. Let's just say NET.Framework is now necessary for insert blocks in your hack, and for use lots of other tools. Also, it's here if you do wanna try. This won't affect your computer, just give compatibility.

Level up
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
If you're not allowed to install/use .NET for whatever reason, then that's pretty much not our problem.
We're not going to stop upgrading our standards for a single person, after all you really are the first person I've ever seen complaining about this ever, which is a negligible amount, as harsh as that may sound.

And yes, replacing all .bin blocks on the site with .asm blocks is one of our goals, although not really one of high priority at all, pretty much nobody cares about it, bare for the occassional "LETS CONVERT THIS SHIT" movement.

Also, the next BTSD version will lose all backwards compatibility with .bin blocks if my mind serves right, so that argument will be moot soon enough.
Your layout has been removed.
how about this - all the blocks will be [bt/btsd] (both bin and asm)per file. good idea?both still works if it is

Sorry to say, but block tool can lead to glitches, which is why they want to change all blocks to be BTSD-Compatible. So no, if you're going to continue using custom blocks I suggest you just download NET.Network and get it over with.
i know the glitches and prevent it
-fall through top corners(rare chance as long the corner is blocked
-jump through corners when big mario jumps left towards the bottom left corner(to prevent this glitch block the corner)
-slowdown(to prevent this glitch do not add too much custom blocks)
-background garbage on the upper left corner(to prevent this glitch use:
varible scroll
fg=00 bg=00 top
fg=60 bg=90 middle
fg=C0 bg=C0 bottom
constant scroll
fg=00 bg=00 top
fg=60 bg=60 middle
fg=C0 bg=C0 bottom
so it won't show
for vertical level the background repeats every 2 screens use vscroll=none

Look my friend, BT is really old, outdated and buggy, if you're using, you can encounter slowdown in your levels.

Also, .bin files are very hard to code and very hard to modify, like IPS patches and .bin files can even have buggy and/or unoptimized codes that can lead to crashes or even slowdown.

I agree that .bin blocks shouldn't be extinct (or at least, BTSD still being retro-compatible with .bin blocks) as long as we convert them to .asm, which makes them easier for us to modify and use.
about the "as long as we convert them to .asm i was wandering about converting back and forth with asm and bin like if you want to edit/program the bin file the easy way, try converting to asm and then edit then when your done turn it back into bin. so that way its not that bad for editing as long you use the asm edit to bin.

if the convert from bin to asm is permanent(can't change back to bin) then the easy way doesn't work

So you can't use BTSD? Then this might interest you; it allows you to insert blocks directly through a .asm patch.

Just wondering, what happens when you run BTSD? What error are you getting? I think you should at least make some effort to try to get it working rather than relying on using jonwil's tool all the time.
but the automatic mario makers(make sounds as the recorded music are in beat) are gunna be wining about this...)
marisa stole the precious thing
super automatic anime

if this stops the bin blocks, the automatic mario videos will stop "music sounds"

automatic mario based on blocktool

Most everyone in the world can use Blocktool Super Delux if they install the .NET framework, which is required by quite a few tools for hacking SMW. Transitioning into a new tool wouldn't stop anything, especially not the Automatic Mario levels. Most Automatic Mario levels use what SMW originally included with the game, and the few blocks they do use are incredibly simple blocks that we have plenty of already.

Besides this, most Automatic Mario levels were designed back when Jonwil's tool was pretty much the only one around - there are plenty of alternatives that are actually much better and safer to use such as Blocktool Super Delux and the patch yoshicookiezeus mentioned.

As long as it's on youtube, nobody will care, really. Besides, as long as an IPS file of those automatic mario's still exist, they wont have to reinsert anything because the blocks are already in the game.
If you really can't use the .net framework, isn't there a custom block patch? Should be rather easy with a tiny bit of ASM knowledge to use .bin blocks with it.

Just 'cause the alternative isn't easy doesn't mean it's not acceptable.
i can handle blocktool very well without bugs

BT causes slowdown, but some people just don't notice it. Here is a patche to correct it, but I really reccomend you to use BTSD. BT will get outdated in not much time, believe me.

Even with the slowdown, .bin blocks are very limited and thus if you combine slowdown and the limitations of .bin block it's much better trying to use BTSD than BT.

You can use the block inserter patch or you can read BTSD tutorial and try it.
In other words...

asm blocks are far better than bin blocks, like how xkas patches are far better than IPS patches.

You'll just have to find a way to use asm blocks, or to use bin blocks somehow.

Or you can keep the current BTSD and download all bin blocks for future use.

not the bin block i trouble with its the .net program that refuse to help me with the btsd
im using blocktool + lunar compress i also have an error message about using xkas that won't start. by the way i think your saying this

soon the only way to have custom blocks is having the .net

i think you hate jhonwil,

im using zsnes and didn't encounter bugs

by the way i know about laptop that act like windows xp, if i get one, the .net program is accessible to use but i had to wait till next year..
