Mario Is Sick by Courptendo

Hack Name: Mario Is Sick
Author: Courptendo
Description: Well my first hack which is a Mini hack, Worked on this while I was Sick...Weird insperation.

Contains: 4 short levels. 1 world
SMB3 music and a SMB3 style small overworld.
One player only patch used.
Mario's pallet is different to make him look sick.
Has a weird ending.

Mainly I would say: Have fun and even though you can complete it quickly, doesn't mean it is rubbish, just have some fun with it.

Also read the read me please! Thank you!
A newer version was submitted.

Description: Well its the fixed version of Mario Is Sick. You don't have to read the Read Me.
Contains 4 levels.
ExGFX
Werid ending.
Have fun!

----------------------------------------

Reasons:

This is pretty nice, although there are a few things that could be fixes and would be better.

First of all, I can enter all of the levels without beating them...I don't really know what's the point of this in a story-based hack. Also, out of curiosity, why is the Doctor's House is the Green Switch Palace? (I think you should edit it)

Due the incorrect Map16 tiles, I can go through the wall here and find odd places like this.

Not sure this is a good excuse, but it'll pass I guess...

I know you were aiming for a "sick" palette, but the Fire Mario palette just really looks...bad. At least fix the shading and the order of the colors (the normal Mario palette looks alright).

*careful

So, that's it, in a nutshell. When these are fixed, I think you're ready to go.

Reasons

Sorry, but there's still some things left to fix.

Sprites interact with passable ground in a weird way. I reckon you're not the only one having this problem though, and if you can't fix it, that's fine too.

*actually
As for the idea itself... Meh, at least you're informing us beforehand.

A few wrong corner tiles here. Hard to spot, but stil there.

The yellow pipes cause a bit of cutoff to the ground and the horizontal pipe.

Not everyone brings the second P-Switch with them until the end of the cave, and those who have to replay that part because of that are really short on time. Consider resetting the time limit when one re-enters the level.

You definitely should disable the time limit in cutscenes though. You don't want people to die because of the time running out here, do you?

I guess that is all - I think everything should be fine once these issues are fixed.

fixed the problems,
The puzzle on level 3 is a bit harder and I have added reset doors.

This is my first hack to get through moderation (hopefully)

custom GFX

Enjoy the hack and look out for more of my hacks!

Reasons

The most important issues are still present, and unfortunately I've run into a few more problems I didn't see before.

Super Mario sometimes glitches through one-tile-wide gaps like this. Not too severe, but it's an easy fix: just move the platform up one tile.

Standing in the middle of upside-down ledges like here looks kind of weird. Consider using cloud tiles.

The leftmost upside-down corner tile is still incorrect.

The time limit still doesn't reset when you re-enter a room. Perhaps you should disable time limits altogether by setting them all to 0.

Wait, so if I grab the coins here (which is what pretty much everyone would do initially), I'm stuck here forever? Not cool. Get rid of the invisible blocks.
(And while I'm at it, the background palette could use some more shading/color variety. Not exactly a removal reason though.)

It's possible to jump in the small gap between a slope and a ledge and walk all the way back here. It doesn't allow you to cheat or anything, but it does look odd.
(Oh, and what's with that one floating ledge tile?)

You haven't disabled time limits in cutscenes yet - it's still possible to run out of time here. As I said, it might be a good idea to not have any time limits at all.

Sorry this has to drag on for so long, but your hack still doesn't quite make the cut. Just keep on fixin' stuff - this could be last time you have to do it.

Reasons

Argh, sorry I have to reject this yet again. This is very likely the last time I have to do so, though.

Not sure if this has been there before... I can actually enter the "START" point to get to a TEST level with no exit.

Other minor issues:

Wrong corner tile near Mario's head.

Looks like you forgot an R.

I'm pretty sure that's it now. Just fix these, and it'll most likely be ready to be accepted. ;)
