This is a revamp of a rather old hack, Super Mario Bros. 5. I don't think it would really make sense to change the title now. :/
Good fucking bye.
I've been intending to comment on this for a while now, yet have never actually got the time to - anywho, this looks like a great hack! It definitely has a retro feel to it, which makes me smile. Even though I haven't had the chance to check any of your prior submissions, I can already get the good level design vibe from those screens. I especially like the looks of that Pipe City level - those gigantic pipes definitely cut it for some appeal.

Overall, this is looking like lots of fun, and I really look forward to the next release. :)
That castle area looks good! Did you draw the ExGFX yourself? I've never seen it used anywhere else before. The general redrawn graphics look very nice! #w{=D}Free counters!
Are you talking about the castle graphics used in the screenshot of Clawgrip's Fortress? If so, those are original, and most of the tiles date back to 2006.

The screenshots look really interesting! Can't wait to play this one.
It may be a while. I'm waiting on Mario's Personal Agent to finish coding my final boss, and I may request a sprite/generator that reduces gravity for the level it's placed in.

Alright. Time to revive this thread again. Progress has slowed down a bit since my last major update, but this hack is still in production.

With a little help from Translhextion, the Wiki, and YY-CHR, I've changed Lemmy into Larry. The change was prompted by the fact that the Non-Dynamic Podoboo patch messes up the original Larry battle by causing the Podoboos to have glitched graphics. If that's Larry, then where's Lemmy?

Here he is.

The penultimate room of the final castle. The water's too polluted to swim though, so Mario must travel by submarine.

The final boss's chamber is a throwback to the Super Mario Bros. Bowser battles. The boss himself isn't there yet because I'm waiting for Masashi27 to code him. MPA dropped the ball on me because I wouldn't leave him alone about the boss.

Very nice! I see the hack is nearing completion which, quite frankly, makes me happy. It looks really fun, good-looking and well-designed. I can't wait to play it! Though, I must ask - have you addressed the issue with the Fire Pillars yet?
I'm addressing that by enabling Layer Priority on whatever objects they tend to be placed over. This should eliminate the cutoffness.

The boss room could look more "cool" if it had some fake red gradients near of the lava.
Despite a couple roadblocks on Sunday with Xkas and SpriteTool bugging out to the point of nearly causing me to cancel, I've continued to work on this hack and it's nearly complete. As of tonight, I only have 2 more levels to do before a beta is ready for release.

The first level of Lunaria, my hack's secret world. These levels have a moon theme and LevelASM-induced low gravity to go with it.

The second level has pools of lava and some fire-spitting enemies. This yellow Snifit is one of them. It's a Flame Snifit that shoots 3 fireballs.

Mario CAN make that jump. The Low Gravity LevelASM gives your jump a SERIOUS boost.

Mario flies around in a little UFO, dodging angry stars and popping off enemies with missiles while rocking to an SMW rendition of Around the World by Daft Punk.

My final boss. It uses Iceguy's Ultimate n00b Boss sprite as a template. It's not what I originally envisioned, but it works, and is a pretty tough boss to beat.

Oh wow. I must confess I've not looked at this thread for about 8 posts. That final boss seems very nice and it's nice to see Masa is taking requests so willingly too (he's currently making me that minecart I told you about). All in all it's really good seeing how far the hack has come and by the looks of it, you don't have much left of it.

It is absolutely excellent! I always loved the level in space but when you know there will be a certain gravity during the levels it really makes you want!
I ended up doing the boss myself with Iceguy's Ultimate n00b boss template. I'm not very patient, so I figured I should do it myself instead of pressuring someone else to do it.
