Need help with "addmusic" or porting?

Link Thread Closed
no no. what i meant is that if i use

Code
addmusic.exe smw2010.smc -se

then the .txt files that do not require the N-SPC patch will still work correctly? or will i have to use N-SPC .txt's only?
oh, of course they would stll work fine, if they didnt, that would be bs
and what the hell,
i looped this 1 part and now suddenly the octave is to high when it never happened before
thanks alot, i may just insert them. i've been searching for good music that didn't require those patches :).

BTW if my selected music doesn't work for 3 straight tries, expect a request here.
what kind of request?
and i freaking hate looping >.< it just doesnt wanna work with me

Take these .txt files and add to this .ips and send me the resulting .ips

Something along those lines. After I find some more music. I'm thinking of porting some myself.

EDIT: Is there a limit to the total bytes I can use in addmusic for my level themes? I'm only using 7 files (total ~15 kB) for my OW and the default misc. music that came with v4.04, so...
the kb isnt the insert size, the insert size is the ammount of bytes the song takes, like a 23kb can be as little as 7000 bytes without any looping, and the limit for songss is about 15000bytes per sound bank which is every 4 songs you insert,
20-24 25-29 and so on.
ok, thanks. so... as a general rule, insert size is less than txt size?

Sorry in advance if I'm GETTING ON YOUR NERVES! :)
the insert size is totally dependent on whats in the txt file. while the txt file size has alot to do with it,
you could make a 3gb have an insert size of 40 bytes
so it shows you shouldnt pay attention to the file size as opposed to the music code inside.
edit: no worries, i like to answer questions if i can
lol ok, so do you have any problem with my pseudo-future request?

#w{O.O} while typing, i got this tip: Don't be afraid to ask questions on the forums. (or something like that.)
no, but id much rather make sure your able to do it yourself as well.
i feel pathetic when it comes to actually making a hack though,
You should see my early demo. CRAP on a stick. I haven't updated since 2007 :(

SS thread.
IPS of the demo. (Unlocked)

I'm currently doing a scrap and replace to adjust to 1.71 and find some new patches.

1 question. Do the MORE patches interfere with the "[Xkas] All Switch Blocks Have Powerups v1.2" found in the patch list?
i dont tink so, but get skype then we can move faster in this currently offtopic conversation
nty. anyway, i'm out for now. thanks for the help though.

will post again once i try to ADD my music
ok, but remember, if you wanna freely ask me about music or whatever, ill see a skype message usually 24/7
I need some help. I'd like to make a complete SFX overhaul of SMW and submit it as a base hack. There's only one small problem:

I don't know how to insert SFX!

I know how to make SFX files because it's the same as making music, but I don't know how to replace old sounds with new ones. When I put my sounds in the ID folders, how do I indicate/know which sounds I want replaced? I downloaded an SFX ID chart, but it starts at 00, at IDF9 starts at 2B.

Help would be appreciated!

Look in your RomiAddmusic folder.

- Treat SoundEffect.ini like you would for AddMusic.ini.
- Treat the 2 folders, "1DF9" and "1DFC" like they were the "LEVEL" and "OW" folders.
- Use ASM to LDA the sound effect from $1DF9 or $1DFC

Good luck! :D
im gonna try making a port using samples, so just 1 question,
what samples am i able to delete that doesnt use sound effects?
You don't need to delete any samples at all. Use the newest optimize.bnk, Carol's MORE.bin, and then you can freely use any samples from 14-3F (as in, all of the free ones) by using $E5 $XX $YY in the TXT file.
i guess i could try learning the adsr difference carols more.bin offers,
its still $ED right? also would this clash with songs that need more.asm or would carols more.bin still work? just curious and do they clash if both more.bins are used on the same rom?
I think I recall patching Carol's MORE.bin to a ROM with Romi's already in it, and it worked just fine (granted, you might have to do some ADSR tweaking for certain songs to work with Carol's).

And yes, it's still $ED.
