EVERY LEVEL ROY! - Screenshots

I wanted to give you all a demo of this hack here at C3, but I couldn't possibly have 4 levels finished by then with how slowly I work... So instead, I have screenshots! A lot of them. Maybe even more to come?














They're all of the first level, Snowball Forest. (That's right, it doesn't have Roy's name in it! :O) It's the only one that's been worked on so far. However, I DO have examples of other stuff that will be in the hack. Perhaps you'd like teasers? They're old, though!


Level 2, Roy's Northland. I made the BG using some graphics someone gave me a looong time ago. It really captures the essence of an aurora in a cold, northern region, doesn't it? :3 This also showcases the fact that this hack has moved to LM 1.71, so I get to combine tilesets even better than we could before! I will do my best to make full use of this...


This is what the OW looks like, though it's been edited even more since this screenshot was made.



You can't tell me you don't love the Marine Pop. :D Remember this custom Marine Pop I coded? It's only 16x32! (or 16x24 if you're small.) Not sure where I want to put it. Either AuroRoy Lake (lol) or Roy's Shoals (used to be Frosty WateRoy (lol lol)). :/ Anyways...

That's all I've got for now! Next, I'll begin work on Roy's Northlands. Ooh, I'm so EXCITED! :D

This looks pretty good, nice solid level design, and an awesome OW to boot! I'm looking forward to this.
Dang, I was really hoping for a demo, however I am still content with the abundant screens you gave me. It's looking like it will be better than ELI! and ELM! Do you still plan to merge all of them together when you have finished them?

JeRRy: It's a Frostbite Snowy. It's like a snowball, but it's so cold and hard that touching it hurts you- you can only spin jump off it. It kills itself if it stops or hits a wall, though. It's basically nothing more than an obstacle, you can't even kill it with a slide.

Zild: They're already merged. That's what slowed production down for a while, for the most part- I had to fix a lot of secondary entrances. But it's aaaall better now~
From this point on, I'll be using the same basic ROM to work on each entry to the series.

Aposke: It can't be Frosty WateRoy because I want the level to be on sandbars (aka SHOALS) so I have an excuse to use the tides and an ocean BG. XD but I guess it'd still be a waterway if it was mostly underwater...

by the way the next koopaling will be larry and the last one will be lemmy, solely because almost every time I mentioned ELR!, people asked what happened to lemmy :p

Question. When you are done with the series are you going to put them all in 1 mega-game because that will be SWEET.

This looks really good. I like most of the design, even Roy's northland. ATM, I have a custom track which is going on in my head for that level :P

As I've said multiple times, yes I am, but the series will unofficially end with the seventh World, since I don't think an EVERY LEVEL BOWSER! would be very fun at all.

Awesome. Judging by the screenshots it looks like you've outdone yourself this time, Riolu.

The thing that stands out, like with all your levels, is the level design. I kind of like that you changed the background in a few levels too.
And, as always, your palettes are very easy to look at.

Your Every Level hacks have always been awesome mainly because you put a ton of focus into the level design and don't keep yourself stuck onto flashy graphics, interesting music, and wacky ASM gimmicks. You always just build with what SMW had and generally, people seem to be able to do a lot better with level design going that way.

As for the actual hack itself, I'm definitely pleased with the look of it all. The levels look well put together, the palettes are great (which was expected highly), and the overworld looks rather cool. *shot*

Even though it seems you're using a few new gimmicks with ASM additions this time around, it overall still looks very fun and I can't wait to try it out.

Awesomely done.
I've loved everything in your Every Level series so far (despite me only playing Iggy!), and this one is no exception.
I hope this one turns out to be the best one!

It's 10, actually. 6 on the main path, four secret levels. :) Plus, it's on the main map, so yeah, it's a little big.

Kristian: Thanks! To be honest, I wasn't going to have ExGFX in this hack past the OW, but when I realized that no SMW BG would ever give me the feel of being in a forest that's at the shore, I had to get a ripped BG. XD It just snowballed (no pun intended) from there...

RC: Heh. Yeah, it was always my intention starting with ELM! to gradually add in new things, actually. ELM! added in nothing new but one piece of new GFX on the title screen and nowhere else and one sprite to do nothing but avoid a bug... ELR!, on the other hand, adds real ExGFX and real custom sprites...oh, and did I mention real custom blocks? :P But don't worry, I'll concentrate mostly on the level design...

I've played the other two 'EVERY LEVEL' hacks a while ago, and this one looks like it's going to be even better.

That looks pretty neat. I've never played either of the other EVERY LEVEL hacks, but I've heard plenty of good things about them. My only complaint would be that first screenshot...I personally think the vanilla SMW grass foreground clashes with the 8-bit forest background. (I assume it's 8-bit, anyway...looks like it.)

Yeah, someone mentioned that to me before, so I tried to make it fit more, but I don't have enough colors to give the trees more detail...
