It's quite a strain to read the list against your layout, could you possibly do something about that?

Could you change the
and
to
and
for us Internet Explorer users?
It's kind of hard to read for me.

Could you please not use the code tags for things that are meant to have multiple lines, like this list? Code tags can only display one line (why, I don't know), and they stretch the tables if too long.

FAKEEDIT: Welp.

If it's all on one line, it's because you are using Internet Explorer.

That's the entire purpose of the Code tags.

Either stop using Internet Explorer or bug... whoever's in charge of SMWC's forum code (Kerian?) to fix them in IE.
Good list, but these still need to organized by unique variants. For example, Super Mario World, Pilotwings, and (oddly) Tetris Attack all use an older, less common variant (where DA is the instrument command value), while F-Zero, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Mario All-Stars all use the more common format (where this same command is E0).

EDIT: Also, you left a few games off the list:

Arkanoid: Doh It Again
F1 Pole Position
Super Scope 6
Yoshi's Safari

There are probably still even more to be found. I wouldn't call this list all-inclusive just yet...

EDIT 2:

Oh, I wasn't aware that more than one Earthbound came out on the SNES. Looks like this might have been a mistake.

Really? SMW uses the N-SPC without the ADSR patch? I think this is a joke! Or did you meant "Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World"?
Didn't Yoshi's Safari use a different format? I can't recall it using the N-SPC one unless I have not checked well enough on that game. ^^'

I'm aware that SMW, Pilotwing and Tetris Attack use the older N-SPC format and the opening song for Panel De Pon (Tetris Attack, Japan version) uses a few different commands as well, if I'm not wrong.

As for Earthbound. The second part was only released in Japan called Mother2.

@Internet Explorer users, get Firefox or Opera already. ;>
Um, actually, the second part IS Earthbound. MOTHER 1 (Earthbound "Zero") was on the NES, and MOTHER 3 was on the GBA.
Heh, my bad. Earthbound and Mother 2 seem to be the same game. So it's only Earthbound at all, if I'm not wrong.

It couldn't have used a different format. I ported the Pipe Island track to Super Mario All-Stars' N-SPC engine for my SMB2 Music Patch, using the exact same method as I did for the other ports. (Yoshi's Cookie, Stunt Race FX, Super Mario Kart)

The N-SPC engine isn't the same thing as More.asm. More.asm doesn't change SMW's engine into SMAS', it just replaces a few underused commands with custom commands that don't normally exist in any version of the engine.

Also, since Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World is essentially the SMW ROM crammed into SMAS, it has the N-SPC engines of both games.
These are some great finds. I didn't think it was used in that many games.

Do you have any idea what the "ADSR patch" even is, or do you just type without thinking all the time? This is like, the umpteenth time you've done this now.

The only reason it is called the "N-SPC" or "ADSR" patch is because MORE.bin enables - as the name applies - more commands than the ones already present in the ROM. One of the first ones this introduced was $ED $WX $YZ, or better known as "ADSR". Future MORE.bin versions have included more commands, such as $F3 and $E5. It's not like MORE.bin suddenly enables N-SPC in the game. It was always there to begin with.

Anyway, this is a very nice list there Ice Man. I recall reading Mattrizzle's list back on board2, and I thought that was it for N-SPC games. I didn't know there were really that many.
My list mostly covered first party games. I never took the time to look through any others.

Here's some more instances I found, although two of them aren't technically games:
 • Bulls vs. Blazers and the NBA Playoffs (engine starts at E1D86 in the U V1.0 ROM)
This is the last place I expected to find the engine! I wonder if any other early EA Sports games on the SNES use it?
 • Satellaview BIOS (The engine is stored at F1560 in the ROM)
 • Super Game Boy BIOS (engine is at 3019A in the JU v1.1 ROM)
This means that Game Boy games with SGB-enhanced music have N-SPC data and BRR samples in their ROMs!

Also, wouldn't this thread be more suitable for the ROM Hacking forum? It's relevant to more than just SMW.
Does this open the possibility for a more automated process of porting music? Or are the differences between games too great for that still?

Exactly my thoughts.

Randomly, what does the N- in N-SPC even stand for? Nintendo?
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
Yeah, the N stands for Nintendo, since Nintendo games mostly use the same format, if I'm not too wrong.
