1. Okay so, before I put in the patch, I used the clean ROM verifier. The ROM was clean.
2. I expanded the ROM. Of course!
3. I did set freespace.

I use snes9x. It can play a clean ROM fine, but after I put in the patch, the messages (such as savestate usage and loading the ROM) turn from white to yellow. What does that mean?

That's okay, that just means that the checksum does not match up, because you altered it. Saving in Lunar Magic will fix the checksum.

How do i get those trees to be black and sparkly-ish green like at 20 seconds in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvY1MNF26-w video?
Your layout has been removed.
it's actually easy. just change the OW Palette of the Big/Small trees to be green on the outside and black on the inside. as for the Sparkle's, Look in the 16x16 OW Tile Editor near the bottom, there will be sparkles

Hacks I Support:

errr another thing: what is OW? is it a program or tool to edit over world tiles? (havent tried to do any custom tiles since the first time i tried it, corrupted my whole hack >.<)

edit: ok i figured out that ow means overworld but i still dont know how to change the pallette
Your layout has been removed.
Click the Star button in the Overworld Editor then pick the Forest of Illusion in the dropdown box on the right of the window.

Look Below for what the Big and Small Tree Palette is.

Orange - Small Tree Palette
Light Yellow - Big Tree Palette

Change the Black to green or whatever then change the other color's to Black

Hacks I Support:

thanks =D
edit: ok. on the lunar magic screen the colors have changed. however, when i actually play the rom they aren't.
Your layout has been removed.
you have to press "Save RGBs to Rom" when you change the palette

Hacks I Support:

I know in some levels, if Mario touches the Goal Sphere, he freezes in place and some levels he keeps walking like passing a regular goal.

How would I make it so he stays in place?
I tend to lurk around this place.

I'm hoping to return soon.
Horizontal Level - Mario Walks
Vertical Level - Mario freezes

make it a vertical level to have mario freeze in place

This video shows someone palying in one of the test levels. The music in the vid is said to be an unused track which resembles NSBDS theme tune.
Is the music true or false. If it is true is there anyway I could use it in a hack?
Obviously false. The person who made the video just removed the original audio (as seen by the lack of sound effects) and placed some other music track over it.

Little question, if you will do a hack, and you want to put a dificulty in the name, for example kaizo, what is the definition of kaizo? It means very hard? If it's that I wouldn't put it.

Hover the mouse over a number to know what it is. (Seriously, just one submission!)

'Kaizō' translated would mean something like 'restructuring; modified', so it doesn't have the meaning of 'difficult; insanely hard' by any means.

Although people refer to very difficult hacks as 'Kaizo'.
Oh, thanks, I only want to know what means :)

1. Use YY-CHR (Note: Rename yychr.eng to yychr.enu for it to be english)
2. Read the F.A.Q.

What do you mean exactly? are you meaning the CHKSUM thing when you play it in ZSnes? if you are then just ignore it. it just means something has been modified and will ignore it next time

Okay, Xkas problems today!
I recently downloaded SmallHacker's double line patch and successfully pointed it to some freespace. However, when I go into the game, all of the names are blank!
So I snuck a peek in the the ReadMe...

Basically, this hack adds a second line of text for level names, but unlike A Yoshi's idea, it doesn't remove Mario or the lives counter, nor does it increase the amount of letters per line.

This hack is compatible with Lunar Magic... ... ... ...in the sense that Lunar Magic won't screw anything up. The old level names will still be in the ROM and Lunar Magic will keep editing them, but they're not actually used. In other words, you'll have to edit the new level names manually, either by using a hex editor after inserting the hack, or by editing the ASM file itself, then reinsert after each change. The former choice is recommended, as it allows you to use a table file while you're editing it.

Speaking of Lunar Magic... For this hack to work properly, you MUST have edited the level names in Lunar Magic. (Okay, maybe it's enough to just save the overworld; I'm too lazy to check. Do both, just to be on the safe side.) In completely unrelated news, we should be thankful for an ASM hack installed by Lunar Magic. SMW's original method of storing level names sucks.

By what do they mean? Should I use a hex editor? How can I edit the ASM file itself? (i.e.)

I'm really confused, and I can't change it back because of a fatal accident in the backup folder. Please help me! (If I get one tl;dr, I'm gonna...)
Like how would I inser the letters?
EDIT: When using the Status Bar Editor, it asks me to link to a certain file. What would it be? Graphics? The Rom Name?
@Missingno - For the Status bar question. you have to link it to the Graphics Folder then it will ask for the SMW Rom

Hacks I Support:

For some reason or another, I tried entering my local fortress in my demo. It did the no Yoshi entrance, but the normal music continued with a black screen. It didn't cut to another music or anything. Help! I chose to lead to Level 1B.
