Here's a short beginning level from a hack I'm working on.
Here is my level. I worked on it really hard, but I hope it is good. I probably won't win, but play it in ZSNESWIN because when I saved it in Lunar Magic, it got saved in its own ASM or something and I kept dying so I don't know if the newest version will work in SNes9x v.151.
Here it is: I just named it

Random Untitled Birdo Level becuase I didn't know what else to name it, and it has Birdo as a boss. Here is the IPS patch.

So I took a long time to put together my special level called Ride On.

Why is it special? Because I didn't make this level to be a winner, I made it to be awesome. It's also incredibly short, but gets more "awesome per second" than any standard level.

Just don't judge it first, I can't tell you why, but just don't.
I made a standalone game once, look for Seabug Stampede on Google Play.

So you've wandered hopelessly through the Forest of Illusions and somehow have managed to find the correct route leading to an exit. You walk out of the forest and breathe a sigh of relief at your first glimpse of daylight. But your trials are far from over. Beyond the forest lies a castle. Do you have the courage to enter the dark, terrifying, #5 MORTON'S CASTLE ?

So yeah, this is my entry. There were never any other castles planned, the name was sort of an inside joke. I was too lazy to do any major overworld editting but that's obviously not what you're looking for.

My original idea for this level was to make it complicated and puzzle-ish, but after doing all of the work, I thought that a shorter, simpler path would be the best way to go.

So yeah: #5 MORTON'S CASTLE

Mario finds himself one day in a castle that seems very familiar. He doesn't have any memories of how he got here or what he was doing before this, but he decides to explore. The whole castle seems empty, except for some familiar foes that do not seem happy to see him.

Okay, so I lied... I'm submitting my original (and completed) level for this contest.

Phantasm's Tower

I removed the cutscene that will be in the hack version of Phantasm's Tower as to avoid spoiling plot.
Phew, this is totally a last minute submission. o_O
I hope everything works, since I didn't have enough time to test everything. It should work though.
So, enjoy my level, Forest Maze Fortress. As the name suggest, it's really maze-ish and you have to explore a lot to make it through the level.
The file seems broken, I am trying to fix it.
Just a question: If I find any glitches, am I allowed to send you a fixed version tomorrow, even when it is AFTER the deadline?

Deep Castle

Journey into the lair of the evil Sugardemon (a Bandit high in the ranks of Snatchen's group) and defeat her. Simple as that. Oh, you need a Lunar Cookie to get to her, though.

Sorry if it's bugged and stuff or whatever. This is my ONLY chance to get it right, because time is up for me, and my home internet is OFF. :( Won't get it back on until about this weekend. D: Enjoy it and the very first custom boss I made. And yes, it WAS rushed at the end...

Spade and the Valley Fortress

Play as Spade, the long-time winner of the "Most likely to discover Valley Fortress", who has just sighted the fortress! Battle monsters, playing cards, and security alarms as you work your way to your final goal: the priceless Valley Treasure!

Music ported exquisitely from Tetris Attack, by SNN and myself.
Almost all of the ASM made by me.
Credits found in the hack.
Buglist included, as I am not perfect.
There is a secret shortcut to the boss in the hack... can you find it?

Have loads of fun!

EDIT: Fixed a fatal bug where it was possible to kill the boss with a fireball... *facepalm*

EDIT2: Damn... Just found ANOTHER bug... Link removed.

EDIT3: Fixed. Let's hope this is the last one!

Like everyone else, not quite as awesome as I wanted it to be. Oh well. I've spent the last 25 hours working on this to finish up the coding and fix all the bugs I could find. I think I'm going to go to bed now.
Well, after an incredibly long month of creating and testing this level. I can safely say that it is finally done. I've put much effort into making this, so I now can release...

Here it is, finally. Took me long enough.

It's called "Garonath Goomba's Jungle of Darkness", by the way.

(No complaining about the message boxes not always displaying the first time or Garonath Goomba jumping through the walls. I have no idea what caused the first problem, and I tried diligently to fix the second, but to no avail.)

Edit: Oh, also, I didn't edit the overworld, title screen, or intro screen (in fact, the latter has some known graphical glitches).

There is my entry, I apologize for the VERY simple story, but given that it took me longer than expected to get some things working right, I was pressed for time to give the good story that I cooked up.
