* SMW2: Reloaded! {New Screenshots!}

Well, I've been working on my current hack SMW2: Reloaded! for a bit, but i never got around making a thread because of my lazyness, and Super Mario RPG was getting quite addicting. As you may have guessed, i'm officially releasing a Demo of my hack, with 2 brand spanking new levels! Yes, there are only two levels, both with pretty easy difficulty, but i assure you it will get harder demo after demo.

Anyway, here are some screenshots! (The demo is located underneath them.)

Two images of my first level, 1-1: A Wigglish Welcoming

Above screenshots are outdated.

Plus another two images from my second 1-2: Into Goomba Forest

Hopefully this will be yet another fully complete YI hack sooner or later. Although, i won't be posting much demos after this, because my schooling starts on Monday, tomorrow. That's mainly the reason why i'm posting the demo right now.

I hope you enjoy, and give me some feedback!
Just played through it, and it's definitely one of the higher quality Yoshi's Island hacks out there (and trust me, there are so few good YI hacks out there). It was really nice to see that effort was put into making this. I've already pointed out the bugs on IRC, so I'll skip right to the review stuff.

Design-wise, it was well done. There were no boring chunks of flat land - the terrain was filled with slopes, and decoration, which make it a pleasure to play. Enemies and items were also placed fairly - no huge clusters of either.

Appeal-wise, it looked quite great. I especially liked the palettes used in the second level - I could tell that every effort was made to make this part feel like an autumn adventure, and it was executed perfectly.

Overall, this hack, though short (obviously), is a very nice start. All of the common errors made by starter YI hackers were non-existant (i.e. crossection glitches, misaligned slopes, not knowing how to count (side P.S. - I have actually seen a hack that had 62 flowers on the first screen)). I'm looking forward to seeing how far you go with this.
I just played this hack now and I must say it was very good and I enjoyed playing it. I like how the start is nice n short. A welcome into your hack.

Also, I've told you the bugs on IRC and so as SNN so fix them.

I hope to see this hack actually being completed since there are so little YI hacks out there. 1-3 sounds good also so try your best on that.

Other than that, keep up the good work :)
I saw the screenshots, and you've caught my eye on this.

I'll try this out, I guess. I'm not really used to YI, mostly SMW.
Hey, thanks for the feedback.

Unknown, have you gotten around playing it yet? :)
Judging from the Screenshots, it looks very nice.
I think I´ll play it sooner or later.
I think you should work with more vertical level design, because it was based upon horizontal style way too much imo.

Otherwise it was quite a nice experience, but you shouldn't use taptaps that often.
^ Lol what is wrong with tap-taps?

The reason i didn't work with vertical level design is because

A) Level 1-1's background repeats the higher you go
B) Level 1-2's background was plain brown and once again - wouldn't look good.

Although, my 1-3 has some vertical design, so when i post my next demo you'll see some.

Ps: I like Tap-Taps ...
I always hated Tap Taps when I played Yoshis Island, evil little enemies...
Please, don´t put too many of these in your hack xD
Okay, okay. I'll remove unnecessary Tap-Taps just so it pleases you. I'll make sure i won't place as many in my upcoming levels :D

Btw, my next demo update might be a while, i'm aiming for 1 world completed -extra, and i'm trying to finish Pikmin 2 and Cave Story, so don't get your hopes up for a update this month, or the first half of March ...
I played through it a while back, and I must say that you did a very nice job on this small-two-level demo. I like how you used lots of different objects in the first level, and although it was a little short, it was rather fun for a first level. The second level is also rather cool, though I really liked the first one. :P

Also, can't wait for the next demo! I'm sure it's going to be even better than the first one, for sure!

EDIT: Sorry if I'm kind of bumping this thread... I just felt like I would throw a comment away in here. D:
Thought i might as well update you on my progress.

My lazy side got the better of me these past 15 days, so i only got two levels completed. I don't want to show too much, because it'll ruin the levels, so here's what i have:

These two are from my 1-3

These three are from my 1-4

Although, my 1-3 didn't come out quite well, so i might consider re-touching it before i release my second demo, which is going to be, hopefully, all of World 1. I don't want to work on changing it now, otherwise i'l lose total motivation. My 1-4 i like, plus i spent so much time on those castle walls i'll be crazy to even THINK of redoing that level. Also, i accidently (again, for the 4th time), matched the castle's palettes with the Yoshi's colour, which i think looks quite nice, so i'll probably continue doing that purposly throughout my hack.

Feedback would be nice, but it's 5 screenshots, so eh.
So, castle 1 is going to be based around lava? Will the boss of the castle be Marching Milde?

Looks good, considering how the castle walls are a pain in the ass to make.
Those new screens look really nice. :O

I like how you figured out cross-sections and castle wells, it adds great detail to your level. I haven't played the current demo, as I'm waiting for one that's at least one world long :P. I hope you do so, because this is looking quite nice. ^_^
Glad to see that this is still being worked on! ^_^

Anyway, both those levels are looking great, as usual. By looking at those screenshots, I don't really think you should remake World 1-3, but since there aren't any videos of it around or something to show a little of your level design, I don't really know if the level turned out so good... although it DOES look nice in those screenshots, IMO.

The castle level also looks enjoyable, and I really liked the palettes you chose for it.

Keep it up, looking forward to the next demo, as well as some updates regarding this. :)
Those screenshots look really nice, Blumiere. I like how you're using the cross sections and castle walls as decorations, and the design also seem good too. It should be really fun to play!

Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Judging by what Broozer said, i might leave the FIRST half of my 1-3 as it is. It's originally called "Racing Past Platform World", but i might remake it so i can rename it something along the lines of a Wall Lakitu, them being the dominant enemy in that level.

@Breakfast, yes, Marching Milde is my 1-4 boss :3

ps; i was also going to make Naval Pirhana my 1-8, but judging by how popular the comination of Marching Milde and Naval Pirhana has become, i'm thinking of putting the Tap-Tap boss as my 1-8, i already came up with a name that fits perfectly into Translhextion :)
Looks good, when can we expect a demo?Free counters!

I'm not setting an exact date, because i know i'll have my days where i'd slack off and re-do levels.

But the weekend is here and 1st term holidays are approaching, so i'll hopefully be getting a lot done this month and next month.

Milestone! 500th post! (i deleted my 500th post, so post 499 will have to do.)
