New Years Resolutions/Goals

Personally I don't believe in New Years resolutions because people think they need to be perfect, and when they understandably aren't, they give up. Rather than make unrealistic resolutions, I set myself goals for the year. If I live up to them, great. If not, that's okay, just keep working on it next year.

I didn't write my goals down last year, but I specifically remember wanting to up my social skills and be a better person, both of which I did pretty decently. I still gotta work on myself but hey its an ongoing process and any progress is a good thing. The only goal I failed was watching more anime, but my cousins are bugging me to watch Naruto and Erased so I might live up to that goal this time.

Here are my goals for the year:
-Continue working on being a better me
-Make significant progress on a hack
-Improve my porting skills
-Watch more anime
-Not fail high school during my last semester LMAO
-Make good use of my gap semester

If resolutions work for you that's great. What are your resolutions/goals for 2019?

Normally my resolution is something along the lines of "Stop procrastinating"/"Start and actually finish a project this year" but that never goes anywhere.

One thing I've been considering is talking more to my family about my personal issues this year, since there's been a lot of things I've been keeping bottled up to myself which probably isn't doing me any good since I'm not sure what to do about some of them.

maybe I should just say "I won't stop procrastinating" so that the world will make me fail on the resolution in a good way

I usually forget my resolutions after a couple of days. Most imprtant to me is to continue the upward line towards maturity and a stable mentality as with the second half of 2018.

I'm also going to go the budget route, not spend incredible money on blinking new things only to rarely have true fun with them on my own (looking at you, Nintendo Switch). I would much rather go back a generation and go for games I may have missed for budget prices on the X360/PS3/Wii U instead.
- programming: keep learning C, learn ASM, C#, PHP, node.js+MongoDB
- projects: work on all current projects before starting new ones. there's like 8 of them. then work on some ideas i haven't started yet
- profession: get a part-time job again, a bit of extra money is always nice
- place: probably only happening in 2021 but it'd be nice for me to get my own place to live y'know
- people: talk to them more. please. i know it's difficult but please just talk
- personality: stop being a piece of garbage literally impossible goal

oh and I guess I should also put "play more games" and "stay focused on your college's classes" and all that

it's late. you can tell because i'm writing in lowercase

the more you know :trademarksymbol:
It's most always the "start actually doing things this year" thing, but of course, it never happens.

I think it could also be
- clean up through comp for things I no longer need
- watch cartoons I never got to watch fully
- (and)
- play some more games
because I never had enough time for any of these. And maybe "finish projects" too, because I always start too many and forget about them.

Also, I see what you did there, RanAS. Good one

My YouTube channel
I want to make a new YouTube channel for my music, and take it off the ground by next year. I want it to be a flourishing channel. Right now it’s super small, but hopefully I can turn that around.

My goals to be a pop musician one day :>

Here’s a link if anyone’s interested. It’s a small channel rn

I have some in mind:

-Start learning a new language
-Organize my room and keep at it
-Learn some coding using Python or Java
-Hopefully finding another part-time job
-Save up money for unexpected situations that needs cash
-Practicing drawing and painting more often

SMW/ROM Hacking goals:
- Promote a more relaxing/less pressuring ambience with more balanced standards and expectations.
- Encourage more productivity and innovation.
- Share more ideas and work by involving different SNES hacking communities together (VileLAB Project).
- Produce more tools.
- Work on Touhou Mario 2.
- Allow people have fun/pleasure at hacking again.

Real life goals:
- Stabilize on my new "real" job (just got hired as Software Engineer). Gonna be a very fun challenge.
- Keep a reasonable good performance on my university even with a full-time job.
- Increase productivity by being more efficient on problem solving.
- Hang out more, visit more different places on São Paulo (one of the biggest cities of the world yet I barely know about it because I always stayed most of the time on home).
- Practice more exercises and good habits. It's essential to keep your body balanced.
- Improve people management and teaching skills. I have plans in being either a teacher or an actual leader one day and I know it demands you a lot of preparation.
- Increase self-esteem and love. No longer depend on anyone to be happy and motivated.

Just to build on what I've already accomplished. Continue not smoking (I quit in September), continue losing weight (I've gone from 98.5Kg in October to 90.5Kg), continue going to the gym and get a career.

As for SMW Hacking, I really want to build the base ROM this year and release a hack in the early to mid 2020s.
