Yes, without savestates. I get easily frustrated
I'm currently playing VIP 2 and I feel this is the most difficult hack I've played already. The levels become suddenly difficult too early (in World 2 basically, where I needed to start using savestates).

I use savestates and rewinds almost everytime in the VIP Series and some other japanese hacks.
Indeed, every hack on the VIP series is impossible to beat without savestates at some point. At least in VIP 4 I was able to reach world 6 without using savestates in most of the levels (I still needed to use them in some levels because some of them really skip the difficulty gap), but the situation with VIP 2 is hilarious, to say the least.

Impossible to beat without saves?
Clearly you've never watched raocow. .-.

The Hyper series is brutally difficult. Been playing the VIPs on and off without savestates and can definitely agree with that difficulty. Some of the levels in the later Super SIG Worlds are incredibly difficult (most notably SIG 6 (haven't even played the hard mode yet) and SIG 18 - Hard Mode). Have yet to play Hyper 6, but based on gameplay I've seen online that'd probably have to be the most difficult non-Kaizo hack I've seen. Hardest that I've played so far.. probably Hyper 4. There's a vertical level with a fish generator in it and Bowser's castle is absolutely unfair in some of the rooms in the game, most notably the one with wonky physics and an autorun sprite.
I am replaying Super SIG Worlds. Now I am replaying Super SIG World 30 Normal Mode, then I will play Abyss Mode and it's not the easiest hack but not the hardest. Which hack from the series would you think are the easiest or the most difficult?
A2MT. Is. HARD.
Especially since you can't keep your power-ups because of power-up filter applied to all levels. With latest version (at least the one that was released at C3, IDK about it's progress right now) it got better - it makes you always big after restarting at checkpoint, but I didn't played it much, so I can't tell if it got a lot easier.

And of course VIPs and other VIP-styled hacks.

I suppose we're not taking into account whether the hack is actually good or not. Because it's common knowledge that the hack is unfinished and even raocow didn't enjoy it all that much. There's no doubting how nonsense hard it is though! I haven't even attempted it yet personally but I watched cow's let's play series of it as it was coming out a few years ago so I know. .v.

To be honest, I've never played A2MT, but I've seen some videos. I will have to try it. Is it on SMW Central or another website?

I mean it got picked up in 2016 and now it's finished more or less.

Version released last C3. There's also link to Talkhause thread where you probably can find newer versions (again I can't check, talkhause doesn't works for me)
