Original Graphics, Palettes and HDMA Showoff Thread

Of course original player graphics are allowed here, my good comrade. Also, with your running frames, I recommend taking advantage of Mario's extended animation tiles, like the running-frame hand, swimming feet and long-jump feet+hand. Your player will feel much more complete.
I love new player graphics and I wish there were more of them. Your style is very cute and I'm really looking forward to the end result.
Feedback noted, and very appreciated. Thank you!
Expect little to nothing from me for now.

Player graphics are the only thing I do right, so come tell me to make one you want.

Here are some Elite Koopa edits

Have a frost day~
It's alright, but the main FG is just a palette swap so all I have to go on are the trees and bushes for decoration. Those are pretty nice. If you were going for a sort of cotton-candy style, you've definitely acheived it.

also nice table stretch -_-

(ignore the yellow switch block in the first image, it will serve as a brick block like this)

how are my draws doing? I think so far I'm much better with drawings compared to my olds lol.
And I intend to use them in a possible horror mini-hack.

Too much pillow shading. Give this a read if you want to know more about it and how to fix it.

Also the heart and feather are too angular, to the point of the former looking extremely sharp, in complete contrast of what it's supposed to be: curvy.

Lastly, experiment using shine (very bright pixels) on things that are supposed to look smooth and reflective, like the heart, the star and the blocks (see SMW's question and turn blocks for reference on these).

But yeah this is an improvement over your rejected submission. Keep it up.
I thought I might as well draw my own characters, since it seems impossible to find something to mod online that happens to fill 32x32 well enough for SMW.

The hair is only green for palette reference, the character will have black hair and some faint light reflection. Once I'm sure on the shade of hair, some of that palette can be used to shade the rest of the body. I need to do something with the eyes too.

I've made some snails, they're not coloured to my desires yet and I'd prefer different shells. They don't need to bulge in and out because the sprite moves up and down 1 pixel so that needs changing soon.

Snails <- I've changed these up since, namely the shells. Thinking about introducing more colour options too.
The blue blocks and grassland are basic graphics to get my level design underway before prettying things up more.

I'm working on some fat vases and flowers too.

I certainly like the ideas behind them. There's a lot of potential with the engine of SMW and I think complete make-over hacks should be more common. It's a bit shaded from all the edges though, pillow shaded, although I suppose from the menu you're looking directly at them. They're looking good.

Princess Bowser/Bowsette fanart is trending like whoa right know, so I felt like drawing again and giving her a shot.

I've seen the memes lately, this is really well drawn and it fits.

So I don't really mean to bump this topic or anything, but since this is graphics related and I wanted to show what I had, I guess this place fits it.
I decided that for the hack that I'm currently working on will have a custom character, and I'll admit I didn't make all of the graphics by myself. They were originally made by No Body The Dragon (as they've posted it here and on MFGG), although they said that users could do whatever with them so here's what I got. The sheet is also heavily based on Mister Man's rip of Mario and Luigi's SMW sprites on the Spriters Resource.

I'll admit that I'm not all the best with editing sprites as you can probably see with the oddly stretched limbs and such (and for the holding an object while swimming sprites, I feel like if I tried moving the angle of the body it would get even worse), and I haven't really finished it yet, with only a few sprites of the bunch being finished and others having placeholder sprites, not to mention that even things like the pallet aren't final. I would appreciate some help and feedback on how I should improve some of the frames I've made or for working on new frames.
I have a DeviantArt, if you do want to see my art on there. I don't really visit it much now, though.

@Eternity: I would be inclined to believe you if it weren't a lie.

As far as drawing in fills go, especially with slopes. It's a good idea to copy the top half of the fill, and then paste it over the normal slope and just draw in the fill over the empty space.

Many drawing styles in particular look excellent. The first screenshot's bridge reminds me of the Ghost House tileset in particular; kind of homage, and is always nice to have around.

That desert tileset in the second screenshot is a really nicely done desert. Been a while since I've seen an original one that doesn't look like it's from Nintendo. Good work on that. Loving the shading, and the dark lines are a very nice touch.

The rocky? tileset, looks alright, and I understand it's a work in progress. I do hope you plan on adding some form of foreground decoration in the fills though, because it does look a little bland. Rocks or even small patches of grass coming out might do the trick.

@WhiteYoshiEgg: I understand you're trying to make a grass tileset, but I think it would look better if you had actual "roof" tiles instead of a Y-Flipped grass tiles. I know a lot of people do that, but for the sake of originality, make a proper roof tile. A good dimension for it would be 16x8. Just copy the bottom half of your fill, add some outline and shading; then you're good to go. The style of art with that fill might demand some extra work, but it'll be worth it in the end, trust me.

It's recommended to comment on someone's work before you post your own work.
@tiad64: Looks like a work in progress, but okay so far.
I'm working on a future tileset. I drew this layer 3 BG.
... in progress.
Feedback appreciated.
Edit: It seems there was no answer. Here's the final result of the layer 3:

Will be released in a future tileset.
Edit: Here's a bit of layer 2:

Since this takes place in an interior place, I need to add another thing to complete it. Feedback appreciated.
I'm having good progress on the FG. Expect a release at C3.

I like how simple to use your BGs seem man, really cool and user friendly designs!

I have been working on some OW gfx. Its not completely done yet but I need a break from literally only doing this. Any comments welcome!

Looks fancy, OGS93. Keep it up!
Sorry for double post, but its quite serious, so hear me out. I've done a layer 3 BG that will be released for the next C3. I thought I'm going to make the first so-called DKC2 use almost 2 GFX files, but this one beat it. Look at this picture:

It's based on this dungeon from Ocarina of Time. Here's my re-creation. Keep in mind I'm not that perfect and deviated a bit:

Don't worry. I will tone down the colors. I do have an idea for layer 1, but I'm not sure if I'm to tackle layer 2 here. Feedback appreciated.

Looks pretty good and nicely detailed. Interested in how it'll look in motion when you're done with layers 1 and 2.

Here's some cave graphics I've been working on for the past week after not touching YY-CHR or LM for a couple of years. Ignore the bridge, vine, and the wooden platforms.

It's still a work in progress as I'm not 100% happy with how the FG pattern looks, and the hills in the BG also aren't fully done. Any feedback welcome!
Nothing to see here. Move along.
