SMW - Back To Basics (Demo)

A 5-level demo of my pure vanilla hack. No MAP16 edits and no palettes changed. Not sure when (or if) I will finish as I've been extremely busy with coursework.

NOTE: The overworld has not been edited. The hack ends after level 5. I disabled the path to world 2 so ignore the glitchy level tile.

This was good. We need more hacks that make the most out of the original resources like this one.

The levels had good design in general, and for not using map16, they also looked really good. My only complaint is that level 4 felt repetitive because of all the pipe between muncher jumps, but other than that it was good.
I played the first three levels and I gotta say for a pure vanilla hack you actually made it look nice with the decoration.

I like the way you structured your FG with the curves and some ceilings without making it feel cramped. However, the rather overwhelming amount of enemies doesn't go well with that kind of design. I often found myself getting hit because I was ambushed by too many enemies and having a hard time to dodge them because of the amount of slopes and walls. Level 2 was a major offender at that. Actually, the very entrance of the first level has both a goomba and a koopa coming after you from different heights, which asks a bit too much from the player considering the introductory situation. And lastly, Level 3 has two Amazing Flying Hammer Bro's, and they throw a lot of hammers since the level is in a submap, which again asks too much from the player.

So yeah, overall you should tone down the spritework here. Keep in mind this is the first world of your hack, so taking it easy would make the average player feel more comfortable for later challenges to come. Nice job with everything else though!
