something something Pinci's SPC stuff thread (may contain EB ports too)

2016 edition
Also not using layout on this post 'cause link color stuff.

I don't have too much stuff, but I'll put some ports I have done this year and some from last year.

Kero Blaster - Approach to Hondo (.TXT and .SPC)

SaGa Frontier - The Opening Of A Journey (.TXT and .SPC) Masterlink helped me here with the piano/harp thing sample.

Kirby 64 - Friends 2 (Unused) (.SPC) Too much samples so it isn't compatible with SMW, I submitted an unsampled version some months ago to the music section though.

Cave Story - Meltdown 2 (.TXT and .SPC)

Clannad - Like The Wind (.TXT and .SPC) I hate sampled perc.

Crayon Shin-Chan 2 (SFC) - Park (.TXT and .SPC)

Crayon Shin-Chan - Kasukabe Boeitai No Yoru (.SPC) C700 cucked me with the ocarina thing sample.

Pokémon R/S/E - Rustboro City (.SPC) This one was for idol, it's a detuned clusterfuck but I put alot of effort on it so I'm posting it here anyway.

Madoka Magica - Connect (.SPC) A port made out of boredom, it's unsampled and I sacrified alot of chords, also the noise channel is shit.

Various Mr. Gimmick! songs. (.SPC) I started to work on the OST at around 2 months ago, however I have to make a midi whenever I need to port a song, so I got really lazy and haven't worked on it. I used MaxodeX's hi hat and crash cymbal samples from his Strange Memories Of Death port.

Umihara Kawase Shun - Stage 1 (.SPC Unfinished due to ARAM) fuck

Kirby Squeak Squad - Menu (.TXT and .SPC) I like how this one turned out, but C700 kills the quality of samples and adds some noise to them, disgusting.

Kirby 64 - Ripple Star Map (.TXT and .SPC) some samples aren't looped so they are kinda cutoffy but the echo makes it hard to notice.

Treasure Hunter G - Sad Freedom (WIP)

Live A Live - Nice Weather Ain't It! (WIP) what the fuck this isn't even a smw port Yeah this is an Earthbound (EB) port, only percussion is sampled, other instruments are vanilla. Inserting samples, their loop points and ADSR is a pain in the ass because you have to do everything manually (with a hex editor).

Super Mario 3D Land - Special World 8 REMIX (.SPC) Another EB port. This was originally a port made by RednGreen for C3 iirc, I never got permission from him to do it (in fact I never told him lol) so if he ever sees this I hope he doesn't get angry or something. I made this when I was experimenting with loop points.

Kirby's Adventure - Rainbow Resort (KDL3 Remix) (.SPC) Good ol' KDL3 Remixes.

SMWC VLDC9 - Space Map (.SPC) A composition I made for VLDC9.

SMWC VLDC9 - Mountain Map (.SPC) ^ same as above.

Well that's all, I hope my ports are good enough for you guys to enjoy!
or else burn in hell

This one is well ported, I think.
There's some cool shit here :P I think one of my favorites are Gimmick!'s Identity Believer, Madoka Magica's Connect, and your Mountain Map composition.
It'd also be very interesting to hear more EB ports; you made some really impressive progress there too. Lov it #tb{'U'}

Really liking the Kirby ones, VLDC9 Mountain Map is a keeper too.

BRR compression at its finest right?
Not a new port, but something I uploaded to the music section like a month ago, it got rejected because it wasn't looped.

Grass Land 1 x Shin Gakki

rip siiva gunner god bless
Animal Crossing New Leaf - 7PM
I don't like animal crossing games but some of them have nice songs.

I couldn't do better with the looping of some samples and also no panning because I'm using one earphone.

Original
Wait, when you talked about the ``BRR having noise´´ thing in your Squeak Squad port, isnt it because the SNES cant really process samples which are already stereo and not actually panned? I mean, there`s some samples I have that people got in C700 (that I`m sure), but I managed to remove the noise by making the samples mono instead. I dunno if that`s the problem or if you already know about it, but if you dont, then you could give that a shot. My samples are WAV, though, not BRR, so I dunno how you would be able to convert or remove them to/in the BRR format (I know about wav to brr, but I havent really managed to make it so it doesnt remove the loop. Never messed around with it enough, though).

Really love it.
Give thanks to RPG hacker for working on Asar.

Pincu you're so super cool #smw{<3}

It's pretty good as a port to smw, can't wait to use it.
I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...

It's because of the algorithms the BRR compression format uses.

@TLMB and @GHB Thanks!

Cave Story - Living Waterway

I ported this one with panning even though I only use one earphone, so the volume and panning may sound unbalanced.

EDIT*

Sailor Moon: Another Story - We Are Sailor Soldiers!

Another song, I really like this one but the fact that the harmony notes sound like "detuned" or in the wrong tone triggers me.
Kirby 64 - Ripple Star

I REALLY wanted to make this smw compatible, I'll probably submit it to smwc but a lot of samples will be downsampled.

As always, no panning because I'm using one earphone, therefore volumes may be unbalanced too.
I'm really looking forward to listening to your port of Sad Freedom, tho I'm kinda mad I couldn't get to porting it first lol.
I haven't worked on it since I posted it in here lol. I use mono audio and I can't continue it because apparently the echo I'm using sounds like shit in stereo.

Gleefully grins

Oh that sucks.
That Ripple Star port is so faithful, it looks like it was taken straight from the original game. Continue making ports of that quality dude, they're excellent.
@Mathos thanks!

Airship

I tried to keep it as vanilla as possible, I still cheated a bit because I used echo and smw uses echo for cave levels only :P

Could be a WIP, I'm not sure because it's hard to make good-sounding ports without adsr, but it's the best I can do without it.

Kind of testament of how "awful" the N64 was with sequenced music, limitations prevented some tracks/titles from even having stereo sound.
Enough rambling, good work on the port!

Well the echo is pretty trivial to remove xD
Overall I like it and it's fitting but one nit-picky thing is the leads in CH 4 & 6 with the "echo" lead in CH 5. Presumably an SMW technique but I don't really like the wave interference + pan going on as a headphone user. The FIR Filter from the echo is ever-so-slightly surround and disabling surround somewhat, but not really (placebo?), alleviates the issue.

Running it through Dolby Headphone it sounds more "normal" hence why it's nitpicky. #thp{LOL}

What? Sorry but I don't get what are you trying to say here.

I think you meant he needs to juxtapose the equalization by compressing the parametric wavelengths in an exact ratio of 3:21 hertz. Maybe that could alleviate the issue.
what

I like your port btw Pinci, although I'm not a fan of that hard panned @14, but other than that it sounds very genuine. Good job :P

Yeah I worded that wonky. *Any time there is a negative number in the FIR Filter, 80 -> FF (big to small), some of it ends up being in surround space or phased in some way. You could literally, if you wanted, take a mono track and basically turn it stereo/surround with no effort using the FIR Filter, though the "panning" might be wonky.

It's not a big issue and could be "imagining" the difference because I'm deliberately turning surround on/off playing back the offending section.
When in doubt just zero all the coefficients and set one to 127 (7F), generally the first.

*Not entirely true. 81,0,0,0,0,0,0 would result in the same sound as 7F,0,0... except the resulting waveform is flipped, but that does not constitute as Dolby-based surround. It gets tricky fast so let's stop right there.
