Super Sarah Land/Habibi: The Game

I'm sure you would all like an explanation for this unannounced release of not one but two hacks of mine. Hold your horses... here we go.

If you watch my hack reviews, you probably know Sarah (monkeysrool75), a great friend of mine and a fellow reviewer. She's helped out in many BTH videos, be it camera work or acting. So for her birthday last year, I created a small tribute hack known as Super Sarah Land. She's always told me I should upload it to the Central. Long story short, I finally gave in.

The hack can be downloaded here. Beware, though -- it's full of ridiculous inside jokes and other things that amount to utter crap. Why do you think I refrained from uploading it for so long? Also, it's basically a dead ringer for my hack Electra, built off of an old demo that never saw the light of day. You'll probably notice, for instance, that Sarah is a recolored Skye. I tried.

The second hack, Habibi: The Game, has origins in my old review of a hack called Patsy (whose gameplay involves walking through doors and dying, and can be beaten in thirty seconds). Since that hack was based on a book, I likened it to making a hack out of Habibi (a book I was forced to read in middle school and hated to high heaven), which can be summarized as "I moved to Palestine. I hate my life. I met a boy. I love my life!"

Ladies and gentlemen, that Habibi hack has become a reality.
Download it here.

I made it this year for Sarah's birthday (which is this Friday, June 5), which likens it very much to Super Sarah Land; that's why I released them together. I should mention, though, that she has no idea of its existence yet. Shhhh!

By the way, to understand how much this book sucks, just take a look at some of the one-star reviews here on Goodreads.

No moderator in his right mind would approve either of these hacks, so they'll be exclusive for download in this forum. Will there ever be a BTH video for them? Probably not. So... enjoy them. If that's humanly possible.

That's all. Godspeed, all you hackers.

If this won't be accepted to the site it self, why would anybody want to play them?

???

Who would want to play a rejected hack?
Many people would. It's just a matter of tastes.
For example, Zeldara's Glitch City hack was pretty popular and liked, but it broke many rules back then and it wasn't accepted.
But why would somebody want to play a rejected hack over an accepted hack? That make no sense at all...
Because personal tastes. (aka because they want)

SRH said it to you. If x wants to play a rejected hack, what would happen? Maybe it's actually good.
Then how would it rejected if it's fun?
You seriously don't get it, do you?

Some people have an appeal to stylistic suck.

I don't get...
For everyone's sake please leave the thread.

Just do it.

Why should I leave? I'm the only one who gave feedback in this thread...
Because I'm probably not the only one annoyed by how you keep posting in this thread showing you're not understanding that there's a possible minority that will play this hack if it interests them and have fun with it.

You simply don't get the fact that some people may like this hack even if it's not going to be hosted in the hacks section. You simply assumed that if this hack will get rejected, nobody will play it, which is a stupid stereotype.
It isn't a stereotype, it's a fact...
The fact that you say it isn't a stereotype but a fact doesn't make it a fact.

Seriously, you haven't even played the hack and you say it's bad already... :V

I'm pretty sure none of you guys played the hack yet too...
Kaisaan, the moderation standards have little to do with fun and "goodness" of a hack, but more to do with glitches, painful unsightliness, and death traps. Fun is too subjective of a criteria to be a sole factor in deciding whether a hack should be approved: hacks consisting of excessively blank and repetitive levels would be an "un-fun" factor that contributes to deletion but outside of that, the scope for a moderator to remove a hack they deem boring is limited. This should be the end of the conversation.

By screenshots alone, I can't really figure out what the problem is that would prevent it from being accepted. Is it buggy? The only thing that actually irks me is the 8x8 text characters running into each other; I'd always have the characters taking up 7x7 of the alloted area just to prevent that from happening.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Wow... I came back to this thread and this is what it turned into, huh? Weird neighborhood.

Kaisaan... drug store's down the street, go pick up a box of chill pills. Doctor's orders. The way I see it, you might as well be yelling at a wall. What's there to be so angry about here?

If it needs any clarification (which it hopefully won't for most people), both hacks are jokes. If you don't know who I am, I have a video series where I review bad hacks. Both these hacks (especially Habibi) cater to fans of the series. They're not meant to be taken seriously.

Okay, now that Kaisaan is gone, I guess it's time for feedback.
I just played Habibi, and to be honest, I was disappointed. Why? Because I was expecting something Patsy-like, but the graphics were good! It wasn't as boring as Patsy! Also:

4/10 - not enough forced deaths.

I can understand why you think this hack won't be accepted and I understand, but Super Sarah Land seems pretty good to me, judging from the screenshots. I also won't mind (though there may be people that care about them) silly jokes I won't get, so it seems pretty acceptable to me at the time. I'll play it and edit this post when I'm done.

E: Okay, done. It was pretty good actually, but now I understand why it's not acceptable, heh.
Also: lol... wat?
Ha, I totally get your complaints. It's actually amusing how hard it is to actually sit down and make a bad hack. Almost makes me respect the art!

I didn't necessarily intend to make it exactly like Patsy; the point was more to make a ridiculously short hack based on a horrible, plotless book. That said, it doesn't mean there won't be Habibi sequels down the line. Let's brainstorm...

HABIBI: DEATH REDACTION
HABIBI 2: LIYANA IN GRAPHICAL GEHENNA
HABIBI 3: LIYANA MEETS PATSY!

As you can see, the possibilities are endless.
