Well, I don't think there is a game released or announced that is a definite purchase for me, but there are at least a few that are pretty likely (and, I guess, a couple that I'll get anyway because I backed the Kickstarter). Assuming we're only talking about new games, my list would be something like...
-
Mighty No. 9: Will it live up to the Mega Man legacy? Well, I'd imagine that partly depends on whether Inafune decides to implement that idiotic ranking system that he put in Azure Striker Gunvolt (it was a stupid game mechanic in Mega Man Zero, and he brought it back?!), as well as how close the level design is to the classic and X series.
-
Soul Saga: An indie RPG. I not only backed the Kickstarter but am even registered on the creator's forums, and everything seems pretty cool. Problem is, I've been trying out the betas, and they have some serious balance issues...mostly because enemies take
far too long to defeat, not to mention they have some pretty obnoxious abilities for being the first normal enemies in the game. Seriously, I've fought bosses in RPGs that went down quicker than those guys.
-
Yoshi's Woolly World: As much as I'd love a new Yoshi game, that only applies if it's actually good. I know Good-Feel is supposedly a competent developer, unlike Artoon/Arzest, but...after having three out of four Yoshi games turn out thoroughly mediocre (and I'm sure the spinoffs like Yoshi Topsy-Turvy are even worse), I don't trust Yoshi games anymore.
-
Bravely Second: I've seen no reason
not to get this...I liked the first one, though it definitely had its problems. The "choosing between jobs" mechanic sounds like an annoyance (especially when the pairs involve a despicable, unsympathetic character against a character with a really useful job, which I know they're already doing at least once), but hopefully, it won't be the case for
all of the jobs. Mainly, I'm just annoyed that they haven't announced a North American release date yet.
-
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC: Pretty much, see my note for Bravely Second. Though I've heard the story gets pretty depressing, unfortunately...
-
Rayman Legends: Okay, so this game isn't
that new, but I still don't have it. I've heard great things about it, but I've learned the hard way not to get games just based on that. And considering I didn't really like Rayman Origins, I'm not so sure I should get this.
-
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse: I recently got the Director's Cut version of Shantae: Risky's Revenge on Steam (should have just gone with the DSiWare version...the resolution settings seem to be buggy in this one, and at least the other would have been portable), and it was reasonably fun, though it suffered from the problem of being a Metroidvania, which I'm sure would be 10 times worse in the third game because it's bigger.
-
Gunman Clive 2: The first one wasn't super amazing, but for only $3.00, it was worth getting.
