[ACCEPTED] Good Question! - MercuryPenny

TAKE 4!

Since most of the hack remains unchanged, I am not going to repeat the same points again. I will however comment on the new stuff in this hack. I like how Thermostat Caverns was modified as it gives a more complete feel to it now but the main thing in this hack is the new level is Madness Fortress where difficulty is taken to a new level. To be honest, I actually really liked the level despite some oddities in it (and slightly unfair parts as I did not know I was going to be trapped at certain points) such as a falling spike on the castle floor. The music is quite appropriate however there is a crash after a scene (the end) which needs to be fixed. I could also not pick up the throw-blocks in the boss fight sometimes and that really annoyed me to make it a major reason for removal. The cause of it is the use of the sprites in the level I believe so mess around with them until you have a functioning boss room as this is a major reason.

Difficulty: Hard for the same reasons as last time.

Rejecting because of the two major issues in this hack. I would like them to be fixed before this hack can go any further.

Fixed two of the bugs noted, no idea how to fix the throw block issue.

Half-sure it's fault of the Bowser statues in the level. I'd replace them for some else sprite that doesn't interrupt the "flashing throwable block" action of the throw block. It's a very annoying issue and that'd still make me feel ambivalent about your hack's acceptance.

That or check your sprite header again.
I have NMSTL in the hack and the sprite header is set to 10.

Guess I'll change the boss room a little.

And just a note to reviewers; when you play this hack you may want to save a state when you are done in case I change the hack more.

Also see if it's all fixed now.

In case you're wondering, I love you #fim{<3}
Alright, I played the last version, and I'm very happy you followed my advice, I feel that now it's more acceptable.
I saw some improvements here and there (like in the final cave level), but my biggest happiness was the Madness Castle: this showed how much potential your level design has (although some parts with the Thwomp were messy due to layer 2 scrolling, I'd suggest you to fix them). I was thinking that it's actually bad to not have a midway point there, but since this hack's difficult is hard, I guess it could go.
The main issues that the hack has now (and that everyone else mentioned) are the throw block, which sometimes can't be picked up, and the music in the cutscene that crashes. Speaking of the cutscene, you may want to edit the message to something else (like "This is the end of the hack, hope you liked" or similar)
Due to the two issues mentioned above, I'll go with rejection: fixing them would make this hack get accepted.
Gotta agree with Mirann here.
From your reply, I take it you fixxed the thwomp problem, however, the thingy with big boo and not being able to pick up more throw blocks is really serious in my oppinion. Luckily, I could rewind far enough to fix it, but I was stuck with not being able to pick up blocks anymore and the bowser statue not falling down either.
From what I know, this is caused if too many sprites are onscreen. The block checks for free sprite slot, to spawn the throwblock-sprite in, and if there are none, it just doesn't do anything.

So, I guess removing some sprites is the way to go here. Though I really don't know why this happenes in the first place. Maybe the sprite memorie is wrong or something, I really don't know.

That and the crashed music still goes for rejection from me.
Also, I'll just go along with everyone else on the difficulty, and call it hard. (happy now?)

I removed the cutscene and changed the boss fight to remove those problems. Shouldn't crash anymore.

Also, the thwomp was indeed fixed.
overworld that ugly.
Sprite memory not that configured.#lm{sprhead}

The dificult is hard.

But i reject this hack.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

That is debatable. People have many interpretations of difficulty.

- Thwomp gets stuck into stone, please take a look on that.
- [1] [2] [3] > Still happening the same issue mentioned many times

Could you please get testers to check those issues before you update the IPS for the next time? I don't want to sound harsh but it's getting tedious for me to have to replay everything to find out bugs and worse, sometimes the same ones. Since it's a short hack, it should be functional at all possible costs and this is the fifth update of this hack.

Too ambivalent to show up a solid verdict.
Difficulty should still be Hard.
TAKE 5!

There is really nothing left to discuss here except the remaining glitches present in this hack. I would say that this hack is nearing acceptance but there are a couple of things that need to be fixed. There are still areas where some glitches happen such as Madness Fortress and Pokeys and Moles. The former has areas where there are sprites stuck and such (also some poorly placed ones but they are unusual so I am not going to make a big deal out of it) and the latter has some glitches with the sprites. Please fix them.

Difficulty: Hard (ugh)

I would accept it but I would like an update to fix them. I think that resubmitting hacks without fixing anything significant several times would get the user banned a few years ago although I am pretty sure that is relaxed now. Remember to thoroughly look over things in the future.
I actually second Everest's idea.
Also because this is getting tedious. But mostly because there aren't really any gamebreaking unfair bugs or problems left.

The thwomp still can glitch through the ceilling, which isn't really all that bad, I mean, sure, if possible I'd like it to be fixxed, but for now, who cares xD

The dissapearing sprite tiles in the pokey and moles level... I just don't know. You got to be doing something wrong there.
Otherwise I really don't know how this still isn't working out.

Seeing as apparently you applied the patch and did everything right (unless you fucked up the isnertion).

Lastly...
Did you swap the gimmik here?

I tried getting testers for one of my earlier hacks and they didn't help at all. Any major glitches that remained were found by me and the rest were all the reviewers.

By the way, I posted this as a point of advise:

so that you don't have to go through the same 7 levels again.

At times, but it's easy to see whether it's animated or not.

Anyway, updated. Pokeys and Moles is changed to Sumos and Moles because the pokies have been removed (*applause*) and the MAdness Fortress has a midway point and the Thwomps have been fixed. I'll repeat this: use and old save! I am at this point only changing the last levels so...
I'm reviewing this version.
Honestly, there's nothing much to add: the main issues I mentioned in my previous review (the throw block glitch and the cutscene's music) have been fixed succesfully. The level design kept good and fun, and the aesthteics has been untouched.
The difficult is still hard.
I would accept this hack from this point, although you submitted a new version, with more fixes and such, so I guess I'll review the new one once the post by Mirann will be done~

And finally the hack is totally functional!
I have nothing much to say about the updated version except that Sumo and Moles feels a bit easier and empty, though it's not a bad issue at all. Good job fixing all the issues of the hack!

Leaning towards accepting the hack.
Difficulty should be Hard as I've mentioned six times until now.
Hopefully the final take? Find out!

I played this over from the beginning for the heck of it to see if there was any interesting changes and for the most part this hack has not changed that much but I am pleased to see that the glitches are fixed for this version. It seemed you modified some areas a bit to make it easier (Sumo and Moles come to mind for this one). Overall quite good enough to be accepted though although I must say the difficulty remains pretty much the same so do not be fooled when I said that some areas have been modified.

Difficulty: Hard of course. You can see my first review as to why.

I guess this hack is ready to be accepted now. Nice job MercuryPenny!
At long last, this story comes to a close.
Kinda glad, for I'm really out of things to write for this hack :<

Yeah, the verdict shall be accept.
Glad to see the bugs and other unpleasant things fixxed. If you ever update this hack, maybe try adding an overworld than ^^.
I don't mind not having one, but it sure looks better if you do (granted, if one sucks at making them, then maybe it's better to stay with none)
Difficulty: HAving played the level so many times already, I can beat some of them without even dying once (with luck)... whatever, I'll go along with the hard.
Short review here, but if you add all the previous ones together, it might just be my longest xD

Finally this hack is good enough to get accepted!~
Glad to see that there are no more issues with this. The biggest change from the previous version is the Sumo and Moles level, which got less challenging from the previous version, but still enjoyable. Beside this, level design is unchanged, as well as aesthetics. The difficult kept hard.
So yep, I'd accept this hack after the whole fixing rush. Remember to not be lazy when you'll do your future hacks, because you have a great potential~
